No, he isn't going to the Browns. He will play and it will be for one of the following: Cowboys, Broncos, Texans, or Jags.

Exactly my point, he holds the cards to play or not to play if he's traded, he won't be playing for the Cowboys, Jags is a loooong shot but I can see it.

Except none of these teams are interested in trading for him or paying him....sounds real enticing

"We are interested only if you are released and only if we can knock your contract way down in our favor and we can get out of it with no pain at all"

that is some sales pitch to the guy that can take them to the SB

Because if the Cowboys are set on making him a June 1 cut to spread the cap hit out over two years, there's no reason to cut him now. You can't use the cap savings of a guy designated a June 1 cut until after June 1.

The only reason to cut him now is if you wanted the cap savings now to spend.

Make them sweat. Personally I wouldn't cut him period.
I would talk to him and his agent and tell them to broker a deal if the teams don't want to pony up because the Cowboys aren't cutting him loose otherwise.

They know he will be cut, they also know he is not looking for the big bucks, he just wants to go to a contender, they are playing their cards, let's see if Jerry makes them bite.

that is a huge gamble for teams with crappy QBs

Jerry should pay him just to avoid playing him in a possible a SB against DEN or HOU

now if we make them cough up a first then we are stronger and they are weaker, which is usually the goal of a GM

Well that, and you know, it would actually benefit Romo. But why should the team take that into consideration? They never have before.

Give it a rest. It will be done when its done. I'm focusing on the draft because that's where we are going to fish or cut bait.

Why are we just delaying the inevitable? Why wait until June 1 when the entire league knows we are just going to end up releasing?

By waiting Jerry is giving it every chance to try and trade him. If we release him now everyone will say why didn't we wait until at least the draft to see if we could trade him then. Jerry is trying to avoid a backlash if he gets nothing for Romo. At least by waiting he won't be criticized for not waiting.

Would agree to switching first rounders (Denver, Houston, Jax) and a 2017 2nd. If push comes to shove switch firsts plus 3rd and 5th picks. It's going to take Romo restructuring his salary before a trade IMO.

I don't think we do, partly because it would just be our luck that no team needs a QB when the Eagles get away with a steal to the Vikings for Sam freaking Bradford.

But, if I've said it once, I've said it a million times and will keep saying it...there's really no good reason to release Romo at this point. Be patient and wait and the buyer's market is more likely to turn into a seller's market.

If we get a 6th or 7th round selection, we'll be lucky, but that's a long shot.

And when Prescott Bridgewaters his knee at training camp... then it will make a difference to even you that we still have Romo on the roster to save the season. You were saying whatever happens, happens... right.
Then it would be like old times. Romo hurt and another season tanked, mate.

I say let him light up people in pre-season and then see whose bluffing. The turtle, not the rabbit will win this race.

Ye of so little faith in Kellen Moore.
That is called as misdirection, correct?
The issue is Romo, an old, fragile QB with a one-year layoff. As a GM you'd sign him, right?
Optimism can be myopic, mate!;)
