I don't think we are getting squat for Tony

Cowboys are not looking to move Romo. He is under contract and will be the backup. You are operating on speculation.

Keep dreaming. He is under contract for 54 mill over the next 3 years not even is jerry that stupid. Some fans may be I don't think Jerry is.

Why are we just delaying the inevitable? Why wait until June 1 when the entire league knows we are just going to end up releasing?

other than giving the IGS a nugget of whatever, what difference does it make?

Just a reminder of Jerry's last comment on this topic:

"“He’s considering options,” Jones said of Romo then. “He gets to say and control this situation every bit as much as we do.”

There's only like 2 teams that would be in play for him. The broncos and texans. If the texans want to throw away another season let them do it. At the same time keeping romo for a backup this year really wont matter with the defense. Whatever happens happens.
You realize you said the same thing last year right?

Other than the fact that he missed the end of the 2013 season with injury, had multiple back injuries in 2014 that forced him to be shot up with painkillers before every game and miss every Wed practice, that he broke his clavicle in 2015 and missed almost the entire season, and hurt his back again (3rd different injury since 2013) in 2016 and ended up missing half the season... yeah hard to figure out why he is considered fragile.

I'm not a big believer, anymore, on the 'Wow, look at all this freak injuries Romo has had" theory.

40 sacks a year regularly, no running hame and Garrett not being able to pick up a blitz did that..

None of what you said negates the fact, a 250 plus defensive player fell on Romo, while sliding and his spine was compressed and the only reason he slid 'awkward' in the first place was because it was his first game back after being off the whole season and he gained weight, because he couldn't practice while resting from the surgery and couldn't run fast or be agile enough yet... With a compromised position for a spine like that anybody could have gotten hurt.. you've got heavy lifters pulling their backs when they simply go to pick up a box, because of poor positioning...

He want's to play but he wants to play for a contender so he can get a chance to get his ring, I sure think he'd rather be #2 on Fox's team on Sundays while living in dallas with his family and earning $3 Million a year rather than go to Cleveland or SF while earning more and finish wirh a 6-10 record.
You think he'd play for those teams instead??
I know for sure that he isn't going to write a check to the Cowboys.

There is no rush, they clearly aren't looking to do much in free agency anyway.

I would keep him til the end of preseason, if no one offers anything than release him.

That way the $5 million in CAP saving this year can than be pushed into next season as a carry over.

I'm not talking about the next 3 years, just the next few months. Not even I anticipate that contract to be fulfilled to term.

The Bronco's are not interested in Romo; not unless it's a very low salary. They didn't draft Lynch in round 1 to have him sit multiple years.

I think it's the Texans, and they aren't going to trade for Romo when they know both he and his salary will be cut eventually. Then they will make him a 1-2 year incentive-laden offer at low guaranteed money.

If we keep Romo, the 2017 cap hit is approx. $24.7 MIL. If we trade him, the cap hit would be about $19.6 MIL for 2017. If we cut him, designated post June 1st, we pay 10.7 MIL this year and 8.9 MIL next year.

So is a 6th or 7th round pick worth passing on the 8.9 MIL deferral? I don't think so. I'd want at least a 4th, maybe the 5th since we don't have one. Otherwise, cut him.

The rest of the football world doesn't think so either and hasn't for weeks.
just had to say, cool avatar :) my second favorite living comic, right behind Louis CK. "When I have less than a gram of weed, I consider myself out of weed" lol. By the end of his shows I'm amazed he always kept it together after those glasses of whiskey and the cigars, I'd like to hang out with him.

Anthony Brown was a 6th round pick. If you can potentially land a decent player it's worth it. Imo

Let the Broncos and Texans watch Savage and Lynch in OTA's

So you are saying he'd play for the Browns instead of retiring, that's where we disagree.
Saying that, no way that happens, I believe he plays, there's 2 options, either he gets released and signed by the Texans or Broncos or he gets traded to one of thise teams.

No, he isn't going to the Browns. He will play and it will be for one of the following: Cowboys, Broncos, Texans, or Jags.

I am probably wrong, but I'm beginning to think that Tony's playing days are over. I hope not, for his sake, but the longer this drags out make me think that his chances of being a starter for another team are dwindling. Teams that are contenders like to have their starting QB in place early. jmo.
