I haven't seen anything from him in these games, other than him seemingly running the wrong route a lot. I understand he will have a lot of growing pains like Dez, but at least Dez flashed a little something. He has had 2 catches in 8-10 targets in the last 2 games.

What am I missing?

He's tall and fast. Fans love measurables. Meanwhile Harris continues to prove Beasley and Williams aren't on his level. It's funny to me.

The thing is, he isn't even that fast. His top end speed is pretty good, but he has no burst coming off the line.

What love...He's a rookie and like every other rookie receiver, they take three years to develop....I don't expect much from any of these rookies in their first year, other than Frederick since he's a first round pick and offensive line is such a disaster inside..The rest of the rookies hopefully can contribute on special teams...

Apparently, he has already beaten out Harris for the #3 spot. That is the love I am talking about. Also, I don't think he plays special teams.

Your trying to grade a college player on a few preseason games be patient and let the guy try to learn to read defenses. He won't see much action from Romo till he figures out where to go.

APPARENTLY, he's beaten out Harris.....based on what?? Harris plays the slot, Williams plays outside..

From what I have read, he is going to be the #3 WR:

Absolutely correct, we love measurables, the problem with Harris is that we have no one with his measurable to compare him too hence why there is so much love for Beasley. With Beasley we have Wes Welker to compare him too which IMO is still is unfair because Welker is a lot stronger and in his prime was lot quicker than Beasley. On the other hand, Harris is an interesting receiver because he's not big nor is he extremely fast but his physicality is tremendous for his size. You just got to love Harris because he knows his assignments and makes plays. I hope to see more of him in the game because he's a reliable guy. My fear with Williams is that he's going to cost us a few pick 6's, and in the NFC East the most competitive conference in football we can't afford to lose off of mistakes....

Agreed. I understand that they probably like Williams' potential more than Harris' and they invested more in Williams than in Harris, but I think Harris is a better WR today. All Harris keeps doing is taking advantage of his opportunities time after time (sans the PR fumble last week).

At the very least, it's pretty obvious that Williams and Romo have not shown strong chemistry. Remember how bad the chemistry was at one being between Romo and Roy Williams? And how much the lack of a threat at the 3rd WR spot hindered our offense?

If Williams beats Harris out for the #3 spot, I just hope it's because they honestly feel like he'll be the better WR for this team in Week 1. Don't just hand him the spot to justify the draft pick.

I agree with your op. Theres nothing there to explain all the love for him except a good healthy dose of optimism. 1 catch in 4 targets aint gonna get it done. Harris doesn't have great hands but he's got experience. The way Garrett doesn't even hand out stars for the helmets till someone makes the team makes me think players are gonna have to show something great in practice or be a high draft pick to get much playing time the first year. Same thing for Escobar.

Did you guys see Austin working the Bengals last night from the slot? That's why Williams starts. He plays on the outside, which moves Austin to the slot where he's unstoppable. Simple enough?

That is EXACTLY the issue...you nailed it...when Harris plays, that means Miles moves to the outside and Harris takes the slot...it is very clear to me that one of the strategic plans for the offense this year is to get a lot of Miles from the slot...having Williams play and develop on the outside is the path the getting this done...and you're right, Miles has shown that he can be DOMINANT from that area...I am talking Victor Cruz level of dominance...I think it is a brilliant plan and I think Miles may have a probowl level year as a result...assuming he stays healthy. Kudos on making this a "simple" discussion.

Austin was at his best playing outside. His monster year in 2009 was mostly played outside.

so Harris plays the slot really ? and I have no love for Williams - I think it was another bad pick

I really believe that Terrence Williams is going to have to have a great training camp to beat Dwayne Harris out of a job for this third receiver spot. I know there is going to be a competition for the spot but these offensive coaches really like to use Miles Austin in the slot and Dez Bryant opposite on the outside so that leaves the receiver next to Austin and right now, I believe that guy appears to be Harris. I honestly believe that Harris along with Bryant has made the biggest jump as a receiver in the terms of route running and catching the ball. We all have seen what he does in the open field with the ball in his hands on punt returns and the feel he has for reading blocks plus pound for pound he is the best blocking receiver they have on this squad. I do not see Harris’ height as a limitation to him because I feel like he turns that into a strength for him

I really like what both Beasley and Harris bring to the offense, IMO Harris will be the #3 WR with certain packages for Beasley. Romo knows these two WRs and trust them more then TWILL.... TWILL is raw and no one knows if this kid can play in the NFL or not.....he needs more time to develope.

It's the usual "realist-knee-jerk" reaction. Don't pay much attention to it.

I agree, he might be the next big thing but right now I could bet Romo has more confidence in Harris, at least that's what it seems.

.......and in the end, that is really what counts, Romo confidence in a receiver, means he gets balls thrown at him.
