I love how the Lions game ended

Well, I won't deny that.

We have a lot of ref-whiners here, and apparently I struck a nerve without mentioning any names. A call goes our way and they turn into Johnny Cochran for the refs.

What a surprise. :muttley:

So it's what this forum would be doing had the Cowboys lost 21-20. It seems fan forums are the same the world over. Go figure.
Pretty much. I usually creep on other team’s forums after a loss and if you cover up the names of the coaches, QB and team you would not know what fan forum you were on. I remember when we beat Philly a couple weeks ago the Philly fans wanted Hurts traded, AJ cut, Siririani gone and the refs are out to get them. Pretty standard stuff. I think it’s pretty natural NFL fan reactions.

Tonight the Lions fans are pissed. Like really, really mad. I don’t blame them, I’d be saying the same thing. It’s an imperfect situation. We’ve had questionable calls go against us in big games and playoffs. When we cried at the end of the day it was still an L, just like tonight for the Lions. I think as Cowboys fans it’s reasonable to question the refs for some of the calls against us in big games. Also for Lions fan I think it’s just as reasonable to not trust the officials. They’ve been screwed more than us over the decades. I feel some fan bases have more justified questions about the refs and integrity. The Lions and the Cowboys do. Steelers, Packers, patriots, not as much IMO.

But anyway, we just beat a playoff team in December in a playoff type atmosphere. I’m going to enjoy this without any negativity. It is fun being on this side of things.

Lions fans being big mad only adds to my joy over this win.

I was never complaining about that, just called out the hypocrisy of some of this fan base.

I didn't even have to mention any names. They outed themselves,

Not only did the Cowboys win, but a flag was thrown in their favor to preserve it. The refs didn't have to do anything. They could've left the flags in their pockets and the Lions win. Instead, the flags came out. Despite the Lions protestations, and even an ounce of common sense, the call went the Cowboys way and they won.

The "refs are out to get us" crowd turns into the greatest defenders of refs the world has ever seen. "Of course the call was right! How could anyone see anything else?" Meanwhile, had the roles been reversed we'd have 20 pages of threads announcing "proof" of an anti-Cowboys conspiracy, taking away our winning two point play.

It couldn't have played out any better. "The refs are out to get us, but not this time. They got this game-changing call right. Good job, refs."

Unintentional comedy and a Cowboys win. A perfect night.
It’s a different day and age. It’s more than “ complaining about Cowboys losing because of refs. The conspiracy crowd has a “draft kings” app and a fantasy football game going on. They are force fed close up angles of video and still images all week of “holds” on social media because holding and pi are subjective but not reviewable yet there’s a 100m a week on Dallas.

I see it as a Brand problem for the league, I don’t blame the fans, that’s an old school way to look at it but short sighted.

The problem is the overtime rules. Let the teams play the whole OT until the time runs out rather then this who scores when or how stuff.

I think that’s why teams go for the two at the end of regulation so they can avoid nasty OT scenarios.

No because our coach just about lost the game for us with his inability to understand clock management. He’s going to cost us an important game. So no I do not love how this ended.

Yeah, all the posters who claimed the league is rigged against the Cowboys because Goodell hates Jerry seem to have a problem explaining how the refs basically gave us the game off a technicality.

I will take it, but I am under no illusion that the Cowboys proved they are better than the Lions.
The refs didn't give us the game on a technicality, there was a legitimate foul on the play (illegal formation) and the lions had the chance to correct what the ref said (but it still would have been illegalformation and we would have covered 68 coming off the line).

they may not. it does seem like the cowboys are victims more often than not. but in any event who cares? we won. why is your first thought to take fans to task?
He is just doing checks and balances. People attack the the integrity of the game that others love by saying the game is rigged, staged and there is an agenda against the cowboys every loss. When that happens repeatedly, you can’t expect a true fan of the game to use it when that crowd puts their head in the sand. I for one, respect the OP for calling it out regardless of what team he roots for. After all, above all, we are fans of the NFL.

Most of conspiracy theorist come from the rift that Jerry and Godell had years ago

IMO

Officiating is bad league wide now and that’s a couple of games now the cowboys have been beneficiaries

Micah does get held an uncanny amount of times but I think all the good ones do

He was one of 3 defenders that stood out to me the others being DLaw and Wilson

the only real controversy was the Lions HC unfathomably going for 2 when the odds of converting that were against him.. The refs made the right call and again, there is no debate, it was a penalty every single time. People need to let this go. They are creating something out of nothing. The refs have been dog doo all year across the league, so I am not sure why its being called a conspiracy. Its blatant. Tonight and last week the Ravens vs the Niners, we saw 2 good clean games called by the refs. Its not ether or...with the refs.

Agree.
But unfortunately when things like this happen it seems a certain element of karma, fate or Football Gods have a way of balancing things out in the NFL.

*Although I do have an outlier in that the Saints are still "owed one" from the most egregious non call PI in the playoff history of the NFL.

We can say this much concerning the refs. Conspiracy has been confirmed in spades. All year the refs have been crap. If thats a conspiracy and we are conspiracy theorists, then I will own that title proudly. However, last night and last week Ravens vs Niners, we saw 2 clean games called by the refs. I acknowledge it when they do their job. Both things can be true you know.

Nah agree to disagree it’s just football . Win some lose some

Officiating is bad league wide it’s just that we’re cowboy fans and we’ve been on the bad end of some calls we just notice it more

I’m pretty sure that’s at least 2 games we’ve been beneficiaries and not victims this year and they were probably right calls

If I was Detroit fans I’d be more pissed at illegal contact on Gallup and then my ire would turn to the coaching staff and their aggressive ness on 4th downs

i don’t think it’s an integrity of the game defense at all lol. if that’s the case, so be it.

I absolutely hate how it ended because it yet again exposed the complete stupidity of our HC in terms of clock management and the stupidity of our DC to not learn from the obvious weaknesses of his defense that the opposition repeatedly takes advantage of

Unfortunately, because we made the playoffs, Mccarthy and Quinn will stay and Dak will get his 55+ million and we will be in the same place next December. Relevant but not a real contender

Live it up Cowboys fans, this is as good as it will be for the foreseeable future

I hear what you are saying, but I would have preferred if they ran out the clock at the end instead of leaving almost 2 minutes for the Lions to score. I also would have preferred if the defense did not play so loose on that last drive. That was just too easy. In the playoffs they will be facing good teams and if the defense cannot make a crucial stop at the end of the game, they will not get very far. Everything about the way that game ended, on both offense and defense has me concerned.
