Claiborne was not doing so good in this game and I notice some of us was giving him crap the whole game. Right when we need a turnover Claiborne give us it in the form of a pick. Let all give props to him.

aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh

no. he gets paid to do a job, you make his pay reflect his pay, than ill say something. until than return the rest of the money for what hes cost the team throughout all the games. and stop being impressed wiht one play. Carr did this too against the Steelers, does everyone still love Carr? nooooooooo

Why do we owe Claiborne an apology? He picked off an over thrown ball. His play on the field has been atrocious. I think he owes us his salary ... cause he's basically stolen the money.

Claiborne does not owe anyone anything. Not his fault our GM made a foolish mistake and evaluation.

Hold on.

I am basically in the camp, seemingly the same as you, that Claiborne is a below average CB and can <essentially> be called a bust.

Having said I don't blame the Front-Office for taking him. He was the absolutely consensus #1 CB in the draft by everyone in the 2012 draft. You can fault the Front-Office for also giving up a #2 round pick -- which in retrospect only compounded an already bad mistake, however, I don't think you can blame them for taking the #1 CB on everyone's draft board.

I'll let that pick cancel out the TD he gave up on the goal line that let Minnesota back in the game. Now it's up to him to make for the rest of the mistakes he's made with good plays.

My only problem with this reportedly they did not do the diligence required before spending a 1st and 2nd round pick on the player. By all accounts they had barely talked to him, and obviously didn't do the level of scouting you into someone you are planning to spend that much on., because by their own admission they said they never thought they had a chance to get him in the first place.

Jeff Fisher, who obviously had chance to get him, and needed a CB, was only too happy to trade out of the spot, at below the chart value price even. He obviously saw something the Cowboys never did.

I get it, everyone thought this kid was going to be good. But I think like the dog wagging his tail in the poker painting, Jerry saw they had an opportunity to go grab a shiny object, and he did it without considering the cost or ramifications if he was wrong. A lot of the problems we have with Mo now could have been discovered before we ever pulled the trigger, no matter what everyone's 'consensus' was (like him being dumb as rocks).

I gave him my props for staying in it and coming up with the pick to seal it! I was angry with him the whole game though.

Lots of bad plays all game and one huge one at the end. Congrats for the pick but the good and bad plays basically seem to cancel each other out to my thinking. Even Claiborne, himself, was critical of his play. He was right -- he needs to do better.

Ok here is my apology.

Mo, I am sorry that I ever rated you so high on my draft board. I am sorry that I was ok with the trade up to get you. You suck Claiborne.....you are the worst draft pick over the last decade for us.

Claiborne made a nice, athletic play on a poorly thrown pass to ice the game. A very nice play, indeed. But I can't say it makes me feel any better about how terrible he looked the rest of the game.

Well, no. Not new. He was waiting patiently in line behind Matt Johnson and Phil Costa the last few years. Now it's Mo's time in the limelight. Hooray!
You are probably right. But if he loses his starting job that might quiet the crowd some.

If I am picking in the top ten in a draft I don't consider taking anything other than a QB, left tackle, or defensive lineman and otherwise think you do everything in your power to trade out of that spot. You certainly don't trade into it to take a corner.

I respectively disagree. In the past 25 years or so Rod Woodson, Deion Sanders, Charles Woodson, and Champ Bailey all went in the Top 10. Obviously all 4 are in the HOF are going to be there soon.

The Cowboys problem is, for reasons only known to the front-office, considered Claiborne to as good as a prospect coming out of LSU as the guys above.

I have watched that play many times this is what I saw.

Claiborne made one heck of a play, some of you say that the ball was over thrown and I didn't see that. Claiborne tracked that ball down better then the receiver did. Receiver stopped and jumped but had he kept running it would have been closer.

I say Claiborne tracked that ball down cause even when the WR stopped in his route and jumped for the ball Claiborne continued running and then went up for the ball.

Great play by Claiborne

Props? Yes.
Apology? for getting beaten on two TDs?
For his consistently underwhelming play for us?

He's lucky he has a job with the Dallas Cowboys, once a hotbed for good defenses and good defenders.
I like Carr. Claiborne is strictly journeyman if that.

Austin Davis said the same thing in his post game presser, btw. "Their CB made a great play."

Side note, I like that guy. If I'm STL, he gets to keep playing and, hopefully, develop and prove himself. His post game demeanor was as impressive as his play Sunday.
