Love the big man but realistic.

LOL. He got hurt in a freak accident last season. It is football you know.looks good until about 4 days into training camp and he's hurt
Anyone saying if healthy put Tyron anywhere but LT is a complete football moron. This argument is short-sighted when you take into account the importance of continuity and the development of Tyler Smith.
Yes, Tyron (on paper) is better that Tyler and LT. Though, even when playing LT he has posted poor games when returning from injury--he really needs 1-2 games to get back to himself after missing time.
So what will happen is that eventually Smith will exit the line up and you will begin the game of musical chairs which weakness the entire left side & stunts the development of your future LT.
Swing gives you excellent depth and maintains his heath.
good point, thats exactly what camp is for.O-Line needs chemistry... period... best 5 with the best chemistry... we are assigning starters in April? Why go to camp?
I guess. I’ll take availability over being j shape. Word to Nate Newton and Larry AllenOne thing you cant knock Tyron for is his work, he does show up every year in great shape like perfect shape for an OL... literally if he was not injury prone he would be the OT every other OT is judged from.
This is pretty much what Jerry indicated. Tyler will be the LT. Tyron will be the RT. And Steele will swing. However, there also seemed to be some talk about Steele possibly playing LG, and McCarthy has talked about the best five starting. Frankly, I think the best five are LT Tyron, LG Tyler, C Biadasz, RG Martin, RT Steele, but we'll see.People just need to stop with the "Tyron should be the swing tackle" argument. When healthy, Tyron will play. Why? Because he's still the best OT on the team. You don't sit your best player just because he MIGHT get hurt. If he's healthy, he's one of the top 2-3 OT's in the entire NFL. If he get's hurt, you deal with it.
His restructured contract is incentive based, where he gets docked pay if he does get hurt. But Tyron will start. He will either start at LT or RT. Tyler will start. He will either start at LT or LG. The undrafted Terence Steele will either start at RT, or be the swing tackle. There is NO SCENARIO at all where Tyron Smith is the swing tackle. Either he's healthy and starts, or he's hurt, and the younger guys play. If Tyron gets hurt, then the Cowboys have 4 players on the roster who can fill in at the swing tackle position - Waletzko, Ball, Edoga and Richards. All but Waletzko will get time at both Guard and Tackle during training camp.
We dont know what are backups are right now, again I'll say we have seen players get better from year to year with MM... yes the 10 years before that we didnt see this.EVERY update on Steele says he will be fully ready by camp. So worrying about him now is like worrying about Tyron now. No point.
BUT this whole situation is why the Boys should have been a lot more DILIGENT about getting a REAL LG on the roster. Right now we have 5 good to excellent starters and NO REALLY GOOD BACKUPS. IF ONE GOES DOWN our available backups are not any comfort.
One area where I might debate with you is this.People just need to stop with the "Tyron should be the swing tackle" argument. When healthy, Tyron will play. Why? That's is fine and dandy, but have a plan what to do once Tyron goes out. This is the argument for upgrading LG.Anyone saying if healthy put Tyron anywhere but LT is a complete football moron.
Tyler has lots of potential but he did not play all that well last year. He is still raw (remember where he went to college; it was not Wisconsin, Notre Dame or Iowa that continually cranks out OL ready to play but Tulsa) And this idea of saving him as Swing is just as stupid. You put your five best starters up there at THEIR BEST POSITION. Right now no one with a brain doubts our best LT is Tyron. ANd bluntly speaking WHO ELSE have we got at LG BUT Tyler?
Problem is, he is never healthy.People just need to stop with the "Tyron should be the swing tackle" argument. When healthy, Tyron will play. Why? Because he's still the best OT on the team. You don't sit your best player just because he MIGHT get hurt. If he's healthy, he's one of the top 2-3 OT's in the entire NFL. If he get's hurt, you deal with it.

If he's healthy, you play him.Which is almost never. 17 games in 3 years.
That isn't top 5 material.
I agree with the premise though I am not sure I would say he is top 2-3 in the NFL anymore as there are several elite OTs that are completely shut down. However he is certainly top 10 and that means he starts as a top 10 LT is a luxury you do not waste.People just need to stop with the "Tyron should be the swing tackle" argument. AmenHe needs the Romo treatment during the season. He will show up in shape. Give him the extra day of rest and if we are up big in a team sit him.
And if they somehow magically stay healthy. Offense line would be beast.Left to Right starting 5 Oline:
Tyron Smith
Tyler Smith
Tyler Biadasz
Zack Martin
Terence Steele
Here is our starting Oline. Book it.
Dont be shocked if Tyron doesnt end up in canton with Larry...I guess. I’ll take availability over being j shape. Word to Nate Newton and Larry Allen
Without getting into a long speech I have wanted to see Tyron given the boot. He can't stay healthy and always fades down the stretch he gets called for holding more and can't run block because he's too slow. He could be a depth player but he shouldn't be starter. That's the problem with this organization they hold on to players way too long. They could of traded him 4 or 5 years ago when he was worth something but now it just restructure and keep around.People just need to stop with the "Tyron should be the swing tackle" argument.
