Eh, we will see. I bet he will sign here or elsewhere near the range I just mentioned. Maybe more like $2-3 mil, but I think that is pretty close to the value teams will peg him at. Everyone saying "31 other teams have passed" don't understand how this works for vet running backs. There will be some form of market for Zeke going into training camp. It's not like he is a horrible player. He's basically league average. The contract + his level of play the last 2 seasons is what made it a disaster.
Either way, Dallas is going to need to sign a veteran RB.
Zeke is still working out with Dak and some of the Cowboys at Dakyards according to in his Instagram account.
While the NFL is suffering from Christmas syndrome.
Everyone has all these bright, shiny new toys. Time to put the old ones away.
Same every year.
Can't argue. Zeke is older. Not the player we drafted. But he's not in deadfall. Look at the numbers......
I took the list starting with Pollard to get the lower tier. You got name, total yards, attempts, and per carry
Tony Pollard 1007 193 5.22
Dameon Pierce 939 220 4.27
Austin Ekeler 915 204 4.49
D'Onta Foreman 914 203 4.50
Alvin Kamara 897 223 4.02
Raheem Mostert 891 181 4.92
Ezekiel Elliott 876 231 3.79
Jonathan Taylor 861 192 4.48
Jeff Wilson 860 176 4.89
Isiah Pacheco 830 170 4.88
Devin Singletary 819 177 4.63
Joe Mixon 814 210 3.88
David Montgomery 801 201 3.99
Brian Robinson 797 205 3.89
Cam Akers 786 188 4.18
James Conner 782 183 4.27
AJ Dillon 770 186 4.14
Latavius Murray 760 171 4.44
Khalil Herbert 731 129 5.67
Cordarrelle Patterson 695 144 4.83
Leonard Fournette 668 189 3.53
Taysom Hill 575 96 5.99
Antonio Gibson 546 149 3.66
D'Andre Swift 542 99 5.47
J.K. Dobbins 520 92 5.65
James Cook 507 89 5.70
Kenyan Drake 482 109 4.42
Rachaad White 481 129 3.73
Kareem Hunt 468 123 3.80
Chuba Hubbard 466 95 4.91
If you average out the total yards, the median is 733, just above Khalil Herbert.
The average number of carries is 165.
Going by the median Kareem Hunt and D'Andre Swift have a very small sample size. (Swift has yet to play more than 14 games in a season)
Hunt has the same average per carry as Zeke, yet he has less total yards and less attempts.
Yes, Zeke had a bad per attempt, but he was productive in getting the tough yards, and playing behind a makeshift line.
Nobody can guarantee under the same situation the guys with the big per attempt wouldn't drop off if they had more attempts.
Can't figure it out. Why would you take somebody with a small sample size over a known commodity that gets you the tough yards?
