If Columbo is our starting RT who do you keep in reserve at tackle?

Look, if we had 2 young FSs that were better than Watkins (like we have 2 young tackles that are better than McQ) then your analogy would be perfect.

bottomline: IMO, BIll will not run the risk that McQ be snatched up by another team, he constantly raves about his potential

He constantly raves about him being a hard worker, not his potential.

And the bottome line is Wins. In that case Fabini will help us more.

are you kidding me? go back a couple of PCs or 2

and how does a backup tackle help you win games?

If Flo or Colombo go down Fabini is the better backup. Watch the New Orleans game. McQ looked worse the Tucker.

from same PC

Do you trust McQuinstan in a game?

No, but he’s got a of ability Brad. I don’t know what he’s made of, yet. But he has all the skills to do it.

summerisfunner-theogt......I compliment both of you. Excellent discussion gentlemen.

Actually he has said that he has all the tools to succeed in this league along with an ability and willingness to learn.

If Fabini is not starting there is really no place for him on this roster. He would be the epitome of a progress stopper that Parcells talks about. Basically with Pettiti you can keep only him active on game day and inactive McQuistan. In a pinch if Pettiti were to go down as well then you can have Kosier sub in.

Thgere is no point for Fabini being around at that point.

If you think both tackles will play all 16 (19? :)) games this is true. If you think there's *ANY* chance of an injury then you keep the best backup who happens to be Fabini.

if you coach like, "what if there is an injury?" you give up talent that can potentially help you down the road, as in the case with McQ and BP feeling that if he taps into his enormous potential, that he's going to be a good one, now I could see if we needed a starting RT, and it was only Fabini and McQ fighting for the role

and think about it, if you're keeping Columbo and Pettiti, Pettiti has been practicing at LT, so we have Pettiti and McQ practicing at both RT and LT, not Fabini, that has to tell you something

Actually at this point Pettiti is light years ahead of FAbini. All I ever see Fabini do is miss blocks and get beat. At his age this tendency will only increase. I just think the guy doesnt have much left in the tank.

And it is also very possible that after 6 weeks into the season and practicing with the team McQuistan could seriously contribute as well.
