If Dak struggles like he did in 2019, how long before Dalton steps in?

You must have been watching the game from an upside down position.
Dak never had the Cowboys close, and he choked under pressure and threw an interception directly to a pass rusher.
we were within 10 points in every game in the 4th quarter....

you must have watched when you were drunk out of your *** like every other time

for Gawd's sake please go to AA and seek help

Dak is the starting QB period. Dalton is here as a backup. In terms of Dak struggles? he put up the 2nd most passing yards in Cowboys history, his 30 TD's 4th most in the league with only 11 ints. I think by now most get it there is a group who does not like Dak, all I can say is too damn bad he is the QB

Dak did not play well vs good teams in 2019. If he plays under the tag, the Cowboys are not bound to him long term.
At what point do you think he would be pulled?
I think that Dalton would get a shot if the Cowboys struggle to a .500 mark after 8 games, or if the Cowboys were to go into a three game losing streak early in the season.
How much leeway do you think McCarthy will give him if he is struggling?
The fault with this comment is it assumes if the team is at .500 after 8 games it is because Dak is playing poorly. It's possible that could be the case, but it's possible there could be other issues creating the problem. That said, if Dak plays on the franchise tag, and both Dak and the team are playing poorly halfway into the season, I could see a possibility of a change. That said, I think the odds of all those circumstances coming together are slim.

I really don't see how. But if he does pull him before the bye.
I think it would be decided at the bye week.

With so much on the line to be decided if Dak is still under the Tag..

they probably would let the season play out under Dak and see where things stand.

So I do not think we see Dalton unless we are way ahead. Or hopelessly behind.

In all fairness..Dak has to have every opportunity to settle his position as the starter.

I want him to clearly win or clearly show he is not the guy.

The team does not want the indecision lingering past this year.

Dak has already settled his position as the starter.

Dalton will see the field right after Dak is carted off.

Not until then.

Dalton will play if Dak gets hurt or if Dak gets sick with food poisoning or some such thing. It's unlikely he'll get pulled due to bad QB play. I can only see that happening if the bottom totally fell out with his play being so bad he doesn't even look like an NFL quarterback. I consider that unlikely.

What's the weather like in this fantasy world of yours?

Dalton will step in if Dak gets injured or the Cowboys are involved in a blowout. The notion that Dalton was brought in as an alternative, or to supplant Dak, exists only in the minds of people who hate Dak and/or have decided that he sucks. The Cowboys obviously do not see him that way.
