He is going to need to be extended, or we suffer through a 49 million cap hit next season. Then a 52 million hit the following season, if he is not released.

Right there is his opportunity to decide if the couple hundred million he has "earned" in his 7 year career is enough, or if he needs to go for the big bag once again.

If I had 200 million in the bank and a reputation/legacy going down the tubes I'd be focusing on doing the one thing that would have me both rich and beloved, rather than rich and despised.

That's just me though. To each his own.

or the same Dak Prescott that played the final year of his rookie contract for something like 2.3 million, while his peers (Goff and Wentz) were getting massive extensions. That guy, yeah.
The same Goff and Wentz who made it to super bowls before their rookie deals expired?

I got news for you all. I for one would not take a pay cut and neither will Dak.....and neither will any of you that are saying Dak should take one. The only way he is taking a pay cut is if he gets fired.

I also got some more news for ya'll....Dak isn't going anywhere.

happens semi-regularly. Darius Slayton just did it to stay in NY. Jimmy G did this offseason as well. Zeke just voluntarily offered to.
damn... please read what I said. I said NOT a restructure, not something done to stay with the team... im talking about a player that there is absolutely nothing the team can do to force the player or incentivize the player to take a pay cut.

Dak can not be traded without his approval. The Cowboys can not cut him. His money is his money........ no player in his position will take a pay cut.

Brady was offered as an example.... sorry, he is a one off that ha always taken less because he had so much money he could do what ever he wanted. Him taking less wasnt even comparable to Dak. You all calling for him taking less is because your argument is he isnt worth the money(I agree) and thus he should take less money until he wins.

Brady was the best qb in the game based upon SB wins, and he took less not because of poor performance, but he took less in order for the team to keep good players.

I did read and you did not say anything about "not something done to stay with the team" not really sure why that's a caveat. And yeah, just because Dak also sucked, the reasoning for the paycut would be to keep/acquire good players and improve the team.

Like sure the niners could have moved on from Jimmy G had he not agreed to a paycut, but he likely would have made much much more on the open market.

In any event it's definitely not likely, but not out of the realm of possibility.

Here is what I said: Name me an NFL player that took a paycut from a guaranteed contract..... not a restructure to help a team deal with the cap, but a straight out pay cut?

In any event, Jimmy G could have been released and he wasnt going to get more money elsewhere... thus the niners had the leverage to get him to restructure because he wasnt playing like a SB QB. Had Jimmy NOT agreed to take less, he would have been cut. The Cowboys have no such leverage. Dak's agent would laugh at Jerry if they brought up a pay cut for Dak. QBs and players in general often restructure their contracts, but it is not a pay cut.

You want to start winning this fanbase, and frankly, the locker room back?

Take a pay cut so we can keep the guys we have and improve even more on the free agency market.

Most of us are at the point where we would rather just trade you but your value is at an all time low. So we know we’re stuck with you so take a pay cut and prove your accountability!

Dak bet on Dak. And won. It's laughable to think that he'd voluntarily give any money away now that the ride is over. He knows it as well as we do. But blame Jerry. Dak was a bus driver before he snapped his leg, and Jerry still crippled the team with the contract. That's all on Daddy. It was as haphazard and stupid as trying to dump 70 million on Gregory.

The money isn't the problem. The lack of talent Dak has is the problem.
Bingo... Daks deal isnt ridiculous for a top flight QB. If having Dak was putting us in the NFC title game eavery year (Burrow, Mahomes) Dak's deal would be a bargain.
The fact is he is pushing 30 and he has 2 playoff wins and never got past the divisional round.

I have finally given up on him. He ha sstunk too many times in big games.

In all my years of coaching I used to use the expression(stolen from parcells) you are what you are. Good hitters hit. Bad hitters dont. The best hitters I ever coached seemed to always come up big .... because that is just who they were , they were great players.

If I sent up my 8 hitter that was not a good hitter at a crucial point in the gme and I was expecting her to come up huge, I was kidding myself.... and just like Dak, that hitter COULD come up big, because anyone can come up big once. But doing it consistently is only done by the best, and that is why Dak doesnt, and Mahomes does.

This is the best solution that can be given, Dak assumed the responsibility for the defeat, ok very well they are just words, he must prove it with deeds and the first step would be to cut his salary, since with what he has demonstrated he does not deserve to earn that money , this is where the type of person he is will be shown, and if he really cares about nothing but money or has the Cowboys shirt on.

That will never happen. In fact he is probably trying to figure out how to get Jerry to sign up for the extension plan.
