I think the players union would have a problem with something like this, even if he agreed.

Many of his sponsors may like a word with him also.

He may sign up for a discount for years ten and eleven of failure out of guilt, but no pay cut is coming now so don’t get hopeful.

the players union would never allow that....giving back money would create open season from the owners on getting money back from players...the greedy soul less nfl owners are bad enough as it is.

You want to start winning this fanbase, and frankly, the locker room back?

Take a pay cut so we can keep the guys we have and improve even more on the free agency market.

Most of us are at the point where we would rather just trade you but your value is at an all time low. So we know we’re stuck with you so take a pay cut and prove your accountability!
A it’s cut makes the team way better abd most likely gets us a superbowl. It also means Daks career can last as long as Brady abd manning. Quietly, they both had amazing pass boockibg fir probably 12 years straight.

Cmon. Nobody should ever have to give back money after getting paid. I wouldn’t, and neither would anyone else. He’s most likely our QB next season. The end result of that season, will absolutely determine his future with Boys. Wait and see what happens then.
I tend to agree with this thinking. If we say it is a business when someone gets cut or traded, then it is a business when a contract is done. Jerry was dumb enough to give Dak $40 million per year so he should live with it. At the same time, Jerry has the right at any time to cut anyone he no longer wants to pay. If he cuts Dak he gets nothing, not just a pay cut.

But I think there is an alternative. Dak has a 6 year deal with the last two years to be voided. No doubt Jerry will restructure him this year to lower his CAP value. Once Jerry does that Dak is not going anywhere for at least those two years, so Jerry has to extend him. The extension is a great opportunity to lower Daks compensation while agreeing to pay him the remainder of his existing contract in full. The extension allows Dallas to spread out his bonus money while Dak can agree to take less money in the extension.

But here is the rub. Let's say Dak plays light out next year and has a great season fulfilling his promise to throw fewer INT. Then all this talk about taking less money would sound foolish. Jerry should approach him now about a new deal. If he refuses then I hate to say it but it is better to cut the cord now that to drag this out for another 4 years. I don't think Dak is getting any better so his trade value is as high now as it will ever be.

Better still, reimburse season ticket holders half price for the half-*** effort he gave this season.

I think hell take a restructure but if he took a pay cut that would work as well. Do you honestly think that jerry would use the money right? Jerry is still going to the dollar store

Dak should take a 10-15% pay cut. Sends a positive message to the locker room and the fan base. If there is ever anyone who needs help with their image it's him.
Daks agent would suffer a coronary just reading this…..it ain’t happening

it's not giving money back, it's accepting less moving forward to allocate towards improving the team. and plenty of guys have done it over there years. not a new or novel concept. unlikely, I'd imagine, but possible and a solid idea.

A pay cut won't win the fanbase back.

Playing well and winning games is what the fanbase should care about.

This years team was fine and good enough. The QB was the weak link.

The same Dak that in 2019 turned down a $30M/year offer, in 2020 turned down a 5-year $175M deal that averaged $35M/year with $110M guaranteed only to play 2020 on a $31.4M franchise tag and then in 2021 refused a 5th-year contract demand from Dallas to then force Dallas into a 4-year $160M deal with $126M guaranteed.......

...that Dak Prescott???? If you think Dak would do anything to help Dallas wherein he isn't getting additional money for it you are fooling yourself.

Dak knows he bent Jerry over and will do it again so long as Jerry allows it to happen. Dak isn't about the team but only about Dak.
or the same Dak Prescott that played the final year of his rookie contract for something like 2.3 million, while his peers (Goff and Wentz) were getting massive extensions. That guy, yeah.

why??? just why must we put up stupid crap like this. Name me an NFL player that took a paycut from a guaranteed contract..... not a restructure to help a team deal with the cap, but a straight out pay cut?

Ill wait.

happens semi-regularly. Darius Slayton just did it to stay in NY. Jimmy G did this offseason as well. Zeke just voluntarily offered to.
