I’ve been following the Cowboys since 1962. I believe I’ve only missed watching a handful of games in that time. Thinking back to the early days, the face of the Cowboys was always Coach Landry. We didn’t see the owner or hear from him on every team issue. Tom Landry took care of all that… and that was that! The fans were brutal in those days too. I remember fans and sportscasters saying the Cowboys were a soft, finesse team, not tough enough to win against Green Bay or Pittsburgh. According to Cowboys detractors, they were very talented but not tough enough to win a championship. Then the ’72 Superbowl happened and later, the ’78! The Cowboys set a lot of winning records in the 60’s and 70’s.

Later, the face of the team became Jimmy Johnson. The new owner tried to bask in the limelight, but ultimately, the face of the three SB winning Cowboys was Jimmy Johnson. Jerry Jones paid the bills, but Jimmy Johnson worked the trades, the drafts and the winning strategies in that era. Although physically there for only two of the three, all three wins are deservedly attributed to Jimmy Johnson’s coaching acumen.

So, what’s changed in the last 28 years? I’ll let you be the judge.

I'm curious what this forum would've been like then.

Internet and instant news technology like smart phones. It used to be "film at 11" and now it's BREAKING NEWS with instant or live video. There are interviews and live podcasts going on all the time.

I remember waiting for SportCenter to see the highlights of each game. Now SportsCenter is old news by the time it airs. We live in a right now world for news.
The issue (problem) is Jerry not technology

And you, sir have to criticize and demean to make your points. You are wrong and may be a Jones for all I know
Don't approach upon the basis of points presented, means you first took the step you complain about. Get your facts straight or carry on, not just talk about it and just insult. You left topic, and I still root for them and the leadership...point of discussion to begin with.

Tough guy on a keyboard
I played football at the collegiate level. I served in service from Viet Nam to Afghanistan. Was Postal to retirement, and most recently was a Corrections Officer.

I talk facts and true insight, not just a priviledged preference. You a Cowboys fan?

Sorry, I have no idea in what language you are speaking. Stop with the aggressive and nonsensical responses. You do this a lot

Actually, Jerry was just as much involved with the trades if not more than Jimmy

I thought Jimmy targeting the players and Jerry worked the trade. That is usually the owner's responsibility, right?
If I recall, it was Jerry that wanted Emmett. And Jimmy wanted nothing to do with troy. That’s why he drafted. I forgot , with the supplement they were a great team I’m not given either one credit or critique.

I come from a military family. My father was 2 years Navy in WW2 and 20 years in Air Force flying 3 tours in Korea. I highly respect military service. But serving doesn't give a fellow the right to speak to people the way he does on a fan site. This is supposed to be a fun site with differing opinions. I've been a fan for over 50 years and have earned the right to voice my opinion, no?
Jimmy had a revolving door.
That's pretty spot on

Still nothing more than full of yourself...grow up, Laddie, or see a recruiter for real values. You even played before?

Your responses are little more from experience than on topic and continually running from points presented. Your response is no more than vanity and convenience. You bath mouthed first, the Cowboys, and then didn't own up in the proof of merit. You left topic long ago and now have left topic completely and are instead displaying an unneeded level of survivors' response. I'm still talking good stuff about the Cowboys. They are still a good franchise and are not the losers you present for reasons that you play with. Disprove my actual direction and reasons to post about the Cowboys. The facts are not foolish as you suggest by shown intent.
This, I believe
17 years and a Union Representative for 5. I didn't say that I went Postal...and you are full of being a coward and not owning up, Son.

So you fess up to being a brat...my Grandfather carried a duffle bag in Normandy. My Father took 184 depth charges on the US Plunger in the Sea of Japan. My Brother made a training manual that was used in Naval Air Station in Kingsville,Tx...for entry level Navy Pilots on jets. Me, I served 23 years and was a NCO for 19 years after attending the US Air Force Academy following a Congressional Appointment from Senator Kika de la Garza......and your point really is?
