If not Garrett, then who?

I don't know what it'll take but our coaching staff have to be better on Game Day.

The HC is not the problem. I don't see how starting over from scratch is of benefit to anybody. Jerry is still there lurking.

Upgrade the talent on defense.

How does this game change if the defense does not spot the Packers a 21-3 lead? Everything is connected.

Would I like to see them make smarter decisions? Yes.

But that game came down to a hand full of mistakes and I can see only two that falls on Garrett.

1. Not calling a time out when Butler needed to get back off the field before they get a penalty.

2. Spiking the ball instead of calling a time out.

Otherwise this came down to poor defense early and player mistakes which causes that deficit and the ultimate final field goal.

They made more bad decisions than that. How about not running the ball late in the 2nd half when they were in FG range? They gave Rodgers too much time then as well but we thankfully stopped them. That screen pass that was picked was a bad throw by Dak but it was another bad call by the coaching staff. There is an article on USA Today or one of the sports sites showing the Cowboys run that formation infrequently and they ran it against GB before in Week 6 and Hyde knew what was coming the moment the WR went in motion. That's a big mistake in the red zone.

Also not using Elliott more in short yardage situations was another major gaffe yesterday.

Yesterday was not a well coached game. And at this point, Garrett has had more than enough time here. It's put up or shut up time. Firing him now is not what is needed. But the clock has now started. As I said, another early playoff flame out next year and anyone excusing him should have their heads examined.

What the Hell was I thinking. You are right.

I am giving up being a Cowboy fan and just wait until the last play of the Super Bowl to pick my team each year. That way there will never be a disappointment.

Or i could simply just follow the lead of all the sage here at ***BLOCKED*** ™

I have been a huge Garrett detractor. But this season tells me he has the right tools tom get this job done.

Add a few players - DE, LB, DB (2), TE, T, WR - and this team will be here again and even better.

I hate to say this because I will be ridiculed about it, but I am beginning to see Garrett as finally coming into his own here.

Fill out his tool box Jerry, and let's tee this up again next year and see where the team is.

So everything has to be perfect for Garrett to win? I got news for folks...past performance is no guarantee for future success in today's NFL. We were relatively healthy; we had two rookie phenoms; we had home field advantage; we had the best OL in the game to go with one of the most talented RB's to come out of college in years; we had a healthy Sean Lee. During the game, we even had the momentum turn, the clock on our side and a chance. Yet, Garrett came up small again. Anyone that thought our D wasn't going to be tested and exposed this game by a first ballot HOF in his prime was just fooling themselves. This game was going to be won on offense and limiting Rodger's touches. Again, Garrett came up small.

Every season has it's share of adversity. We are woefully out-coached. You think they would have been prepared for the 12 men on field issue? How about the lackluster start which led to a 21 to 3 deficit? It's all BS. And little will change next year because the same clapper is going to be roaming the sidelines hoping for another QB to save his *** again.

Well I am so glad you are being rational here.

I don't think there is anything particularly outrageous about questioning just how good Garrett is, especially in light of the fact, we lost a big game, as a home favorite in a game where the coaching staff made some pretty questionable calls from the opening moment to the last seconds of the game.

Nor is it outrageous to suggest that if this team fails to make the playoffs next year or has another early flame out, that his job status should be in question.

Garrett is taking much deserved heat, who would you replace him with?
He's a good motivator, but I feel he lacks the strong personality to get in his coordinator's face and challenge them to up there game. I can't see him getting after Linehan and Marrinelli, questioning Jones, for that matter. That being said, who is available that would provide an upgrade?
Gruden, Saban, any thoughts?

There is not one coach available that is has good, let alone better, than Garrett. We are lucky to have him.

Garrett just went 12-4 and 13-3 in two of his last 3 seasons. And the abysmal season that is sandwiched by those two great years saw this team lose countless one score games (historically a coinflip) with some of the worst QB play in the history of this franchise.

Garrett is a very good but not great coach. Believe it or not but we're lucky to have him. Look around the NFL. How many coaches are you 100% taking over him? The list is shorter than you think.

Then find another team. If there is nothing here to be proud of or root for because it is all dark and hopeless, then go find another team to follow.

Stop. This is a overreaction. 2 weeks ago people on here were praising him for Coach of the year.

Amazing how rapidly things can change. Maybe if the Cowboys had gone 9-7 and barely squeaked into the playoffs as a WC with a rookie QB that was sketchy at best.

But the way it all went down? Hard NOT to start pointing the finger. Especially the way they came out of the gate last night.

LOL and there it is. Eventually these things always devolve into some form or fashion of the argument that one is a better fan of the team because they don't criticize them like someone else might.

You've had a few of those responses the last few days and I thought you were better than that. I've always liked you as a poster but I see there's little substance behind the screen name.

I think Garrett and the OC also did a terrible job to end the 1st half. They get the ball down to the Packers 15 yard line with over 1 minute in the half and they still had at least 1 timeout. They go empty backfield 3 straight plays, (all incomplete pass attempts), and then kick a field goal. That failure to think the game by Garrett and Linehan, possibly cost the Cowboys 4 points, and left Rodgers with just over a minute to work with. The defense was thankfully able to keep them from adding to their lead at that time.

I am not saying anything about being a better fan. I am saying if you believe there is nothing here which indicates next year to be bright because of some horse crap about this being a league that changes from year to year, then truck your happy butt over to the Patriots team and revel in happiness.

All the finger pointing and grousing going on ignores so much positive that hasn't been here in twenty years. Nothing during the Romo era save for 2014 offered hope. Then the management allowed the running game to walk and Romo got injured.

So if this is such a done deal that there is no cause to think this team will rise from these ashes, then TYA baby.
