I think having an 81 year old delusional, looney, narcissistic salesman as our team's GM is what's truly keeping this team from getting over the hump and changing from MM, or Dak is not going to help anything until he's gone.
No doubt. Our personnel isn’t good enough to win this league. Now if you were to say we paid a quarterback who the world has finally woken up from the jig he put on everyone, I would agree with you.

We've recently seen franchises win SBs then dump their starting QB when the bill got too high and the Championships stopped. Then, they rebuilt and returned to contention, thus lapping the Cowboys, in short order.

Black pilled doom and gloom planning is no way to win Championships. Being too scared to make changes has never resulted in greatness.
Name those teams who have dumped their expensive QBs whom they have won championships with, only to win another championship with a cheaper QB soon after.

Name them...

I love our schedule this year . We are playing some of the top teams in the league .

Playoff teams from last year: Phi & NY (twice), SF, Sea, Buff, LAC & Mia. That’s 9 games against playoff teams .

And while they may not all be playoff teams this year we have a couple on this schedule who are expected to be potential playoff teams in Det & NYJ.

So, it’s quite a schedule. And if we fare well against most of these especially SF & Phi in our conference then it will bode well enhancing our expectations.

And if it leads to winning our Division then will also elevate our expectations . That’s the type of proven or new results I’ll be looking for to meet the type of hype and hope many are wanting to promote before the season begins.

Sorry, that is just a bias...the man is still target on as to base values and solving them.
Maybe. I know my thoughts are not the end-all, be-all.

Logically, what he is saying holds no water. See Eagles, Rams.
Big swings sometimes pay off but they also can backfire. Jerry isn't willing to risk a backfire and his team becoming irrelevant, as it was in the early 2000s. There are about $9.2 billion reasons why, but it has also made it harder to get back on top. They need a lot to fall their way.

My point was just that the NFC is more open than it has been in years. If the Cowboys can't make a run now, when will they? Next year's QB draft looks deep. Teams that don't have one now will get one soon.

Nobody knows when if not now. That’s a rhetorical question which can’t be answered.

But I’d agree that remaining relevant and interesting contender is Jethro’s top priority. He doesn’t want to start over unless it hits rock bottom or implodes .

This is a good enough team he can hype and promote . That’s enough to keep the revenue rolling and squash criticism towards his involvement.

Despite this frustration from fans everything is hunky dory in Cowboys Football. Lol

I don't disagree, but that won't change as long as he's able.

But the pieces are in place. The NFC is more open than it has been in years. If not now, when?
well one possibility is never, fans dont like to consider that but it is possible.

So is many years from now.

As far as this season, well we will find out later on, it is possible, but it is hard to say or see right now.

It also depends on how it goes with SF and Phil, which are the main two blocking dallas.

Hey, how DARE you call Jerry an OLD., DELUSIONAL, LOONEY, NARCISSISTIC, SALSEMAN.

I don't think he's a salesman.

I thought so last year but it's even more this year. You would think we could just stumble into a title game once in a while.
Based on how the rest of the league has performed the last 30 years, odds were actually very good that Dallas should have lucked into a conference title game.

It really is just a matter of time, but this team is the best that Dallas has fielded in years while the NFC is nearly the weakest it has ever been. This is the best chance to break the curse that they have had in quite some time.

I've considered it. I'm already resigned to the very real possibility that I saw my last Cowboys SB in January of 1996. But I'm looking forward to seeing how this season plays out, and I'm glad it's starting soon. There are some reasons for optimism, but anyone who watched the 2015 season knows how quickly things can go south. We'll see.

While I agree that this is one of our strongest teams in years, I find myself still holding my breath. The Oline, the LBers and RBs have me concerned.
I feel we have a 2-3 year window at best. This is Dak's year to show he IS the QB he must be.
While I do like the QB pick up, I'm surprised that was done over shoring positions that are thin, and players that would make this team significantly better - were available.
I hope we can have a positive year and make at the least the conference game.
They have definitely NOT gone all in like the Rams did.
I'm leary of the Giants game on Sunday, their defensive line could give us problems if we have to start a backup over Smith at left guard.

Dallas has just been snake bitten at the worst times.

2006 the stupid fumble.
2007 or 08 the infamous Giants collapse in the playoffs
2014 Dez drop
2016 Romo breaking something for the 20th time. Entire team didn’t show up in the first half
2018 Rod not adjusting to the rams run game/obvious gap reads.
Etc

Seems like when the stars align to make a run the team just shoots themselves in the foot

..that's like the ole' saying, "The harder you work, luckier you get". Not necessarily, some just get Midas touch, regardless.
