If Parsons wants 30 million per year are you paying him?

This isn't better for the cap hits. Isn't the goal to be as cap friendly as possible? Everyone complained about Zeke's contract, yet in the 7 years he was here, only one year was a bad cap hit. If they FT Parsons twice, that's back to back big cap hits.
Oh no I’m not disagreeing with your stand.

Just simply saying that it seems everyday there is a “Oh no we cannot pay Diggs, Lamb and Micah thread” and it’s a way to spread the hit

You don’t technically have to pay Micah for another 5 seasons.

2 years on his contract, 5th year option, with two years of franchising if needed.

I don’t know why people freak out about this now
People freak out cause this front office is not good with negotiations and likes to give out bad money...

Parsons is a game changer, one of the few in the league. Look at how much he improved the Cowboys defense since he arrived. Other teams have to game plan for him and it makes it easier on the rest of the defense. While everyone is crediting Quinn for the improvement, it is actually Parsons who has turned things around.

With that in mind, how do you not pay Parsons, unless you see him breaking down? We'll have to wait and see what he wants and what kind of a deal he is willing to sign, but if he is willing to work with Dallas on a fair deal, I would sign him, even for $30 million.

Why would you pay a QB who is maybe just above average and not a game changer $40 million but not play maybe the best defensive player in the league $30 million?

Why can't fans see that the $40 million per year QB never happened?

2021 $17.2 million
2022 $19.7 million
2023 $26.8 million

He won't see the 2024 money. Those slices of the pie are just fine.

you would have to say yes, he is our best player and at such a critical position, you never know your luck at the skill positions this draft, but we should definitely hold this star.

Predicted, but not guaranteed. I'm not signing someone to a crippling contract if it means destroying the ability to compete for the next 4 or 5 years. Are they trying to win championships or trying to keep people fat and happy?
So you’d let one of the best players in the NFL walk? Ok Stephen. And his contract won’t destroy the ability to compete for the next 4 or 5 years. I will help the team compete for the next 4 or 5 years.

Think of it this way, and I'll use our favorite player, Zeke. He played 7 years for the Cowboys. Had they not given him an extension and let him play 5 years, plus two tags, that would have been worse than what they did. Cap hit wise. All paying him did was cost Jerry more money, and who cares about that?

What they could have done is just let Zeke play out his 5 years and be done with it. But there was a hold out. Parsons can't do that based on the new rules. But do we really want to piss off that player and be done with him in 5 years? His big cap hits won't start until 2027 even if they extend him after this year. I wouldn't worry about it.

I think a lot of people don't understand how contracts and extensions work. Most people don't pay attention to that and automatically think the second they get an extension they are a drag on the cap. Or that an extension means a new contract. Both are totally false.

Anytime you have a superstar at any one position, expect to pay the existing amount and then some. It's an ongoing process, like it or not.

Would you resign him for that amount? I have a feeling thats what he is going to be asking for. Lets also assume he continue to play like he has played up until now.
It doesn’t matter what we think. What do we think Jethro and Son will do?
