DIEHARD is the term here. we are hard to kill off. Jerry's mental incapability to realize he cant GM (or be an owner depending how you look at it), properly will not kill us real fans off.

Leave the weak stuff to the bandwagoners. We built tough with two shades of blue (navy blue and royal blue) silver and white running through our veins!

Schottenherimer seems to somehow not only be in the mix, but the betting favorite to be the next head coach.

The guy they didn't have enough faith in to be anything more than an assistant OC to McCarthy.

The guy that if he left Dallas right now would not get any attention at all for an OC job and would probably get demoted to a position coach somewhere IF somebody wanted him.

I can't think of a more "we don't care at all" hire than Schottenheimer. This is basically just a tiny step above Jerry naming Stephen the HC.
Cheap and compliant with Jerry's 'suggestions'.
Then again it could be seen as short term pain, in exchange for real change.
There's nothing worse than a 2025 minor improvement to legitimise Jerry's claim that he's turned the corner and his plan's working.

If Jerry Jones being the clearly failed GM of this team can't run me off, no head coach choice is going to at this point. This is my team. Jerry just happens to be the owner of it right now. I can't imagine abandoning the team I started following way before he became owner just because of him or whoever he hires.

But as far as fandom goes, that's already changed some. There are games I have not watched the last couple of years, while I had never done that before. I had been recording games and watching them after finding out the score to preserve my health, but I always watched the games later to dissect what happened, see where the loses went wrong. I haven't been able to bring myself to do that since the Green Bay playoff loss.

Nah, but it would shift my focus further towards the college game. My lady is a Lions fan. Maybe they take priority in the living room on Sundays. It's been fun watching Baker Mayfield resurrect his career in Tampa. Wouldn't mind catching a few games there. Maybe he surprises us if he's the guy, but I have less than zero faith that will happen. The fact that the organization is putting out feelers is disgusting. Jones needs to stop being cheap and hire a rising star. All of these half measures and luke warm hires...not going to cut it anymore.

Wouldn't change anything on my part.

I've already accepted Humpty Dumpty as Owner/Meddeler/GM so the bar can't go any lower

He's in the mix because everyone else is telling Jerry to take his incentive based deal and albatross QB contract and cram it up his cramhole.

Honestly I'm a big fan of all of this, I'm enjoying watching Jerry get dragged daily. He's earned every bit of this and I'm going to watch from shore as this ship slips under the waves.

This is basically saying " we are gonna suck for the next 5 years while we the organization and you the fanbase put your lives on hold while we wait for Jason Witten to learn how to coach in the NFL". Meanwhile," I give you this puppet, Brian Schottenheimer". And don't forget to stop by the ProShop for jerseys and merchandise.

I’m surprised one of Jerry’s grandchildren isn’t in the mix.

I'm not telling anyone how they should fan, but judging from the first few responses I can now see why someone like Schottenheimer is even being considered for this job.

Jerry operates with almost zero repercussions from the fanbase.
You're one of the few posters on here making sense anymore.

It would absolutely change my fandom. I already didn't watch any Dallas games the last month of the season. I was willing to see if they learned their lesson from last off-season, but hiring Schottenheimer would be doubling down on that. We're officially in the Al Davis phase of Jerry's life and career. I don't need to watch it on a weekly basis. Somebody wake me up when it's over.

Are we really surprised?
With Jerry in charge, I never expect the right thing to be done.
