Firmly believe the only reason that they haven't extended Dak, is that his agent is waiting for Tua and Lawrence to sign extensions and once they do then we will see negotiations start in earnest between the Jones and Dak's agent. Fairly sure Dak's agent wants a 4 year deal and Dallas wants a 6 year deal. A 4 year deal means a sizable contract at the end of 4 years at 34 while Dallas wants control for 6 years.
I know plenty of fans that want to move on from Dak except none of them offer any plan of life after Dak. Losing isn't an option in Dallas and never has been. Hitting on a draft pick next year is 50-50 at best and would guarantee you that the analytics of those QBs next year then probably goes down to 25-75. Jerry isn't getting younger and wants his best shot at a Super Bowl run the next 3 years running. He isn't going to tank a season and neither are the players. You want Arch Manning, fine, but be willing to anti up every draft pick for 2 years to go to the top and get him in 2026 because that is what it will take.
Dallas has, at least for the last 5 years, mainly build through the draft and will even more so if the analytics work at well from this draft. Analytics can tell them who is the best player that fits their schemes in every round when making the picks. Regardless of what the so-called experts say of where a guy should be drafted, analytics is strictly about the player and how that player would perform for this offense or defense scheme.
Fairly certain that the analytics are also figured in on what the extensions should be with a top and bottom amount and based on the salaries of the others at those positions.
It is business of the NFL now.
