If the Cowboys don't go heavy in FA, why not re-sign Dak?

Most likely no because they wouldn't have gotten the picks plus Stafford has been banged up the last 2 years (I don't blame him, he's 36).
La Porta is great as is Gibbs but not sure if not having them makes them miss out on the playoffs.

But I was more so saying if they had Stafford instead of Goff not factoring in age or trades just simply skill for skill.

I AM on the Dak Bandwagon and extending him at 60 mil a year will still allow us to get the top FA players needed.

I mean, if we don't extend him, who's gonna replace him?

Give the man his bag and let's go get those blue chip FAs!
so why should Dak possibly get 6 million a year more than Burrow? Why should jerry just bend over and Make Dak the highest paid QB? Jerry is doing it right IMO.

Dak isnt going anywhere IMO, but no way should Jerry just say sure Dak... here is 60+ million per year because it is what you are asking for.

I just heard the worst Dak hate take ever from Cowturd. He just said everything has to be perfect for Dak to win games throughout his career. Besides season 1 with Frederick, Tyron, and Martin in their primes along with young legs Zeke, I would like to know the all pro talent that Dak had carrying him. The Cowboys defense was limited in season 1 and the receivers were more name guy then actually talented. I get you want clicks but don’t poop on Dak to make Lamar look better. The Ravens have always had a top 5 defense since he has been in Baltimore and we know nobody is concerned with Lamar’s arm.

Would this team go out and get the top DT, RB or LB on the free agent market if we had a QB on a rookie deal or even between 20-30 mil a year? Probably not.

I'm not on the Dak bandwagon, but the best bet is probably extending Dak and shoring up the run offense AND defense.
Dak's team has to participate in the contract discussions.

Cowboys had 9 all-pros last season....thats should have been enough to get to at least an NFC championship game.

If you are suggesting dak is the only one receiving criticism, that is absolutely false.
I go on other teams message boards and know a ton of fans from other teams. They don't trash their players like most of the entitled Dallas fans do.

Dak was horrible VS GB but the defense didn't give the team a chance to stay in the game. I always hated how Quinn was in the coaches box.

What if Dak's agent is asking for 100M per season?

No way to judge signing or not signing Dak without knowing the agent's asking price.
he isn't. he told us when he said he doesn't play for money. :lmao:

what blue chip FA's are you referring to?

and if they were going to extend dak, i'd have to think they'd have done so. this is playing out like they're taking this year to dump money / players and see what happens, regroup next year.

Firmly believe the only reason that they haven't extended Dak, is that his agent is waiting for Tua and Lawrence to sign extensions and once they do then we will see negotiations start in earnest between the Jones and Dak's agent. Fairly sure Dak's agent wants a 4 year deal and Dallas wants a 6 year deal. A 4 year deal means a sizable contract at the end of 4 years at 34 while Dallas wants control for 6 years.

I know plenty of fans that want to move on from Dak except none of them offer any plan of life after Dak. Losing isn't an option in Dallas and never has been. Hitting on a draft pick next year is 50-50 at best and would guarantee you that the analytics of those QBs next year then probably goes down to 25-75. Jerry isn't getting younger and wants his best shot at a Super Bowl run the next 3 years running. He isn't going to tank a season and neither are the players. You want Arch Manning, fine, but be willing to anti up every draft pick for 2 years to go to the top and get him in 2026 because that is what it will take.

Dallas has, at least for the last 5 years, mainly build through the draft and will even more so if the analytics work at well from this draft. Analytics can tell them who is the best player that fits their schemes in every round when making the picks. Regardless of what the so-called experts say of where a guy should be drafted, analytics is strictly about the player and how that player would perform for this offense or defense scheme.

Fairly certain that the analytics are also figured in on what the extensions should be with a top and bottom amount and based on the salaries of the others at those positions.

It is business of the NFL now.
Tua can be tagged for the 2025 season, Lawrence can be retained on the fifth year option in 2025, and tagged in 2026. Miami and Jacksonville don’t face the specter of their quarterbacks becoming free agents in less than 10 months. Jerry Jones may want to consider at least some sense of urgency in deference to Dak Prescott. Waiting to “see some more leafs fall” guarantees he’ll be negotiating with free agent Dak, not “you’re our quarterback“ Dak.

9 pro bowlers but I guess you consider pro bowl players all pros. Did you watch the Cowboys last season. Dak was on point all season and developed Lamb/Fergurson into big time players with a shaky offensive line and average running backs.

Market price aint 60 million. Burrow has been to an afc title game and a SB, so market price would dictate Dak be below Burrow.
Gotta factor in that the cap just jumped more than $30M though. Dak at $60M would still be less than Burrow's $55M per.

All things considered the floor for a Dak deal should be $60M.
