If The Fans and DFW Media Ran The Cowboys

To shine a ray of humor into the darkness of an otherwise abysmal December (in regards to football, at least).

Hos is an intelligent fellow. He understands that you can recognize a problem even if you don't necessarily know how to remedy it. Hos is merely parodying the somewhat fickle nature of fans on message boards.

To quote the great Bill Parcells.

"just because you can identify a problem, doesnt mean you can fix it"

I can't give a lot of responses right now. I have to go to a funeral for an older gentleman from my church and the family asked me to be part of it.

For those questioning the purpose of the thread let me just supply one short, quick answer. I wanted to poke fun at all of us and lighten the mood a little bit. Please note I copped to some things myself in that post, i.e. being a "greedy draft *****."

I think it's rather funny how we can all over react. Nothing more. Nothing less.

I do feel I owe TD3 a full explanation, but I have to take care of this first. I hope you all understand that. There is a priority preventing me from saying more right now.

If the fans in North Texas had any say in anything relating to any sports franchises in this town...they would all be in other cities.

Whiny, sell out, no heart, no faith and no backbone group of fans here.

the cowboys would be in LA had the fans of north texas had anything to do with them.

Trust me, and I mean this with all sincerity. WE WON'T MISS YOU WHEN YOU'RE GONE. It can't happen fast enough!!!

DC, I don't want to be that harsh but I just don't understand why Theebs has been blasting the fans of North Texas like he has the last few weeks.

Our fanbase is no different then any other fanbase.

You mean to tell me the Yankees fans don't have their fair share of clowns?

I love our fans, even the dumb ones.

Why?

What is the point of this thread?

It appears to be that you wish to call out everyone who has a different opinion then you but that surely can't be the case. Can it?

If the intended point is something that I am missing then please enlighten me.

If the point is as I perceived it then....

Why?

You perceived correctly, even though just the other day he said it wasn't "his MO to call out people". But, I don't expect anything less from him - rail against the same thing he does himself.

I believe that 100%.

I am not going anywhere anytime soon though, so thankfully for jerry people like me will keep the attendance in the stadium from dipping into the 40s like it was in the 80s.

Now go pat yourself on the back you should be proud of your hometowns level of fans.

please by all means be that harsh, it wont bother me one bit. Go ahead and tell me to leave.

the fans here are nothing like fans around the rest of the country, I have played the defender forever. I could defend the texas stadium crowds over the past 3-4 years. they were good. It was all about football. Even if there was a lousy atmosphere for alot of the games in those years too. I would still defend it.

Not anymore though.

the fans here are like the fans in miami, atlanta or los angeles. Its just not that important to them.

Theebs is just frustrated like the rest of us.

After all, the problem resides not with the people wearing the 3-D glasses, but with the person who approved the idea.

The laughable thing about it is, 50% of the "fanbase" that he finds so repugnant, are like him, transplants who couldn't get here fast enough because of the sky-high cost-of-living and their own inability to find and hold a decently paying job.

Forget 'em, and have a safe trip home!

actually its a mixture of frustration and anger and it is pointed directly at the people who buy tickets for the cowboys games. Or you know, have season tickets but sell them for a profit to the other teams fans.

I know jerry would do anything to make money and bring people in. I have come to peace with that a long time ago.

I am just tired of the attitude down here from the fans and the media.

the stadium just made me so sick last sunday that I will never defend them again and in fact do the opposite.

it's a horrible horrible atmosphere and it is what the fans make it.

That 3d picture cracks me up everytime I see it. Was it from an official promotion? Or did you reassemble it from other shots?

the only thing about Jay Ratliff I think he gets worn down at the end of the year. he's been mia this December so far.

Is that why Norv said hes the best DL he has seen the whole year last week?

That doesnt apply to me at all.

My cost of living was fine, basically the same as where I live right now.
I turned down a job before I left to come here.

I spent my whole life wanting to be a part of the team...and the crowd in some way shape or form. I wanted to live here so bad, so that on the weeks when we played the giants, Commanders, eagles etc... I could be a part of that energy.

I wanted desperately to know what it was like to be a part of the other side of it, I wanted to walk down my driveway and pick up the paper and have it be Dallas Cowboys beat writers, I wanted to turn on my tv and have the sports be all about the cowboys....

I wanted to become a dallas cowboys season ticket holder as bad as anything I have ever wanted in my life, you have no idea what it means to someone like me to get to be a ticket holder. I cherish each and every minute at every game like its my last time there.....

that is all I wanted, just let me be in on the good side, I wanna feel it from the other side after 25 years of hearing it the other way and missing out.

So my wife and I made it happen because it is something I wanted more than anything. My wife left a tremendously good job, we left all my family and all our friends.

Just to be a part of the energy and the atmosphere of being part of the Dallas Cowboys every week.

so go apply your stereotype to someone else.

We have not won a Playoff Game since 1996.

Like someone mentioned, we have the worst winning percentage in December in the last 10 years which is worst then the Saints in the 1970s.

We see the Owens, Tanks, and Pacman's of the world being signed and the lockeroom being chaos.

We hear players sending text messages saying it is business as usual after a loss.

We see Keith Brooking saying he was disgusted with Practice and thought he had to pick a fight with somebody to up the intensity.

We see Terence Newman get on ESPN First Take and question the "Brain Trust".

We see the team go 13-3 and then get beat the first game in the Playoffs by a team we beat twice.

We suffered through the 3, 5-11 season under Dave Campo.

We saw Bill Parcells revive this franchise and many now think Jerry Jones is quickly destroying it.

We see Bill Parcells saying the Cowboys teams he coached are the stupidest he has ever had.

Despite all that, the fans in Arlington, TX, voted to foot half the bill for the $1.5 Billion Stadium.

Despite all that, the Cowboys are still king in Dallas/Ft. Worth and are as popular as ever.

Despite all that, Cowboyszone membership keeps growing and growing and growing.

Maybe we can start encasing batteries in snow and throwing them on the field like they do in Philadelphia?

Maybe we can start coming to games with bags on our head like they use to do at the Superdome.

Maybe one of the local radio personalities can call a boycott, which eventually leads to the owner of the team having to meet with the fans like they did in Cleveland?

Sorry, but I love our fans and I bet Jerry Jones does too.

True, but I don't understand the need to rip North Texas Fans like myself.

I applaud the fans of North Texas for sticking with this team through thick and thin even though we have not won anything of any significance for quite some time.

Yes, whine and moan but we only do that because we actually do care about the Dallas Cowboys and want them to perform better.

It is like my old High School Basketball Coach use to tell us, "When I stop yelling at you, that is when you should worry because at that point I have given up on you".

Like I stated, one of things I like to do is stream radio from stations in other cities and they are just like the fans on 103.3 ESPN, 105.3 The Fan and 1310 The Ticket.

I went to the Saints Messageboard (when I wasn't getting "server is too busy" error) and it was the same exact personalities but different user names.

My whole argument is that Dallas is no different then other major markets.

and I agree with that. Fans who call radio stations, post on message boards etc...are filled with passion.

I dont include you in this group by the way that I am complaining about. If you take the time you do out of your life to post here as much as you do I know you love the team and would bend over backwards for it.

One of my only friends really that I have here, is as passionate and excitable about the cowboys as I am, so is the rest of his family.

I am not talking about the people who are into it for the football and do stand by the team.

I am talking about the ticket buyers and sellers who just give up and do nothing but whine and barely pay attention to the game in the stadium.

The same crowd I see at rangers games, which I think might be as bad as it gets in sports is now out crawling all over the new stadium. Its awful.

And again, dont tell me about winning and losing. If you need your team to win to be a fan, your not much of a fan. Its not about that to me. Its about loving the game and being about the game and having passion for the game, while rooting for your team. that is why people who are like this get upset when players do things to mock the tradition and the legacy of the league and its former players....

that passion does not exist at live sporting events here. Sorry, it just does not. High school football only it seems.

like I said the other day, why arent all these people who call pre and post game shows who are so mad and passionate about the happenings of the team out at the stadium doing this.....it would be a tremendous atmosphere.

and before you say its about money, which I do agree that money is a roadblock for many right now........in 03 when I first bought tickets here...I payed 37 bucks a seat.....the cowboys had some of the lowest ticket prices in the league. It wasnt about money then..it was about that inner passion.

I am only dissapointed in the fans in the area...not the area. I like it here I have what looks like it could turn into a good career and my wife loves it.

so sorry for your stereotyping behind I dont see myself leaving anytime soon.

Why you would be happy that someone who just wants the fans and the environment for the team to be great would be happy its not is sorry and indicative of the problem here.
