If We Lose a Playoff Game Due to a Missed Maher Kick

It comes down to who you trust more, a street free agent or an erratic CFL kicker on his 10th team who has how missed 5 of his last 6 XP attempts.

The pressure of a playoff game completely broke him.
I am leaning toward picking someone up....we can't miss even one pat this week...

The idea to have two and let Maher kick to deep ones is good with me.

They may look at a few kickers but if it would be a highly questionable move to bring back a kicker you cut in training camp and depend on them in a playoff game. I’m not positive but I don’t think Lirim has ever attempted a regular season kick in the NFL. If he was dependable he would’ve ended up on someone’s roster this season.
Lirim kicked in a game for us last year when Legatron was injured and was perfect on XPs, I believe. Whatever though, if Maher is really the best they can do before Sunday so be it, but it's also a highly questionable move to rely on a guy who just missed 5 kicks in a row. That decision has to fall on someone.

Even Maher's kick offs were jacked last night.

He missed 5 in a row, time to go street shopping for someone who can hit within 35-40 yds.
He’s been making those consistently it’s the PATs he’s been missing.

Feces happens. Humans play a game managed by humans.

If society can give second chance to dog killers, women abusers, rapists etc by allowing them to play professional sports...Mr Maher gets one as well for missing a kick. Good grief...its a game.

Next time you screw up Shirley you will be given a second chance.

I have confidence in Mr Maher. He had a bad day at the office until proven otherwise.

Go Cowboys!

Do they have to kick from that hash? I can’t remember the rule.

Regardless of the position, kicker, QB, wr, rb the key is to not let the game come down to 1 position or 1 play. Be better.

Lirim was given a very good opportunity in training camp and got released. Once you set sail in the playoffs it’s hard to move on from a kicker. If you do and the kicker you replace them with cost you your season, you’ll be facing heavy criticism. It’s not like there’s a consistent kicker out there waiting to be signed. Maher did make his last PAT so maybe that will get him back on track.

Would you trust him on anything right now?
After what we saw last night not really, but we’re pretty stuck having gone this far with him. He only missed 2 FG’s all season. I still trust him more than some kicker that’s been sitting on the street the entire season.

There are many reasons why I would really like for this team to win it all this year. First is the joy of adding another trophy to the trophy case, and knowing Dallas, most likely, had to beat the eagles a second time to get there and succeed.

And I admit, bragging rights have something to do with it.

But a huge reason is the fandom of this team, that denigrates everything that falls short of the Cowboys beating each opponent by 20 points or more, and owning all of the stats.

It just seems like people don't enjoy the successes. And in the final analysis, if Dallas were to close the deal, how many here would look back and realize they spent a championship season whining and not enjoying the ride.
Sadly most of them wouldn't even get it, but that's why I personally don't care for winning ain't everything ,it's the only thing mentality. You miss so much thinking that way.

Great post

"Lose a payoff game due to a missed Maher kick...."
Then the GM and President should immediately submit his resignation and participate in no more team activities.

Ooh, super fandom rearing it's head.

It's playoff football. A kick often decides games. Maher just missed 5 in a row. Yeah, he made his last one, so what.

I'm gonna reiterate what I said. Don't let it come down to a kick, or a pass, or 1 stop. If you are a SB team then you are good enough to play well so 1 issue doesn't cost you a game, or you aren't as good as people think.

How many TB12 Super Bowls came down to Vinatieri kicks? 2 at least?
