As bad as Weeden is at least he's won a few games in the NFL and in all fairness he's still a developing QB. This is only his 3rd NFL season so there's still a chance he could improve some. With a QB like Vaughn you're starting from scratch with a player no one thought enough of to even invest a draft pick on so it's going to take years of development to have a chance with him.

Weeden is much further along in his development and although he was dreadful yesterday the chances of having success with him are far greater than with a young inexperienced QB like Vaughn. Show me one undrafted free agent QB who ever had success leading an NFL team their "rookie year?"

Sorry there KJJ. I just don't agree. If you watched the Cleveland film when he was there he had the same issues that plagued him this past Sunday's game. Locking onto the receivers, no progression, throwing late, throwing inaccurately, etc. These are traits that any NFL calibre QB is supposed to know especially going through your progression and not locking onto your receiver. If he hasn't learned this trait by now, most likely he never will. Its time to dump him - seriously! Vaughn would be a better alternative and could probably drive the bus just as well as he can. This is from me watching him play during preseason.

He showed in the preseason that he has better touch than Weeden.

He showed in the preseason that he reads coverages better than Weeden.

He showed in the preseason that he has a better feel for pressure and how to handle it than Weeden.

The only thing Weeden seemed to do better than Vaughan was throw the ball really, really hard.

I know a lot of people feel you shouldn't rush rookies into action, but enough have shown that if they've got it, they've got it. I think Vaughan has something and I'd rather him be given a shot even if he fails to get some game experience.

I thought Weeden deserved to be cut after the preseason because it was pretty clear that he's not an NFL quarterback, but I knew Dallas wouldn't do that and just go with young arms behind Romo. Sometimes teams overvalue experience.

Which pre-season are you referring to gimmie? I saw none of that with Vaughan but he was hard to judge playing in garbage time with back-ups who won't make the team. Personally, I didn't see all the hype. I may have seen more from Tanney the year before, not that I'm advocating bringing him back. I just don't see where you can form those opinions from what we saw in pre-season. No disrespect, just my opinion.

I think at this point of the season we are stuck with what we have. Kitna isn't coming back and who else do you get at the half way point to learn the system? This is our 2014-2015 team.

Why are we stuck? We've seen teams bring guys from off the street and win in today's watered down NFL. We should know that better than anyone since we've made these scrubs look like All-Pro's. Weeden's not the answer and he's an absolute scrub. He offers absolutely nothing. When you have a QB that can't throw it to a WR for most of the game, it's time to move on. Now is the absolute time to bring someone in. Romo may be back and it gives the new pick-up time to learn the offense, especially if he gets as many (reported) snaps as Weeden during the week. Weeden needs to go and the stink that he left Dallas fans having to root for that scrub.

There are certain things I don't think you develop out of as a QB. Chad Hutchinson, for instance, had absolutely no pocket presence. That wasn't going to change with time.

Weeden has flaws to his game that I just don't believe can be fixed with experience. Yes, you're starting from scratch with Vaughan, but the things that make a good QB seem to be present.

If I'd seen any reason to hope with Weeden in the preseason (and I was looking hard), I wouldn't feel the way I do. As is, I think we have a better chance of winning with that undrafted free agent QB despite the odds. Neither is likely to win very many games ... and given that, I'd rather see the rookie.

Vaughan looked pretty decent to me in all of them. He felt the pressure. He made the right reads ... most of the time. He showed the ability to put enough on the ball to fit it in tight spaces and enough touch to put it over the top.

I'm not saying he was perfect, and I'm not even saying he'll turn out to be any better than Tanney, I'm just saying he's worth a look over what we have in Weeden. Now, I do believe that he could turn out to be a player based on the things that I saw from him, but one preseason isn't enough to go by ... especially facing a bunch of backups.

I'm not trying to overly hype him. I believe something is there but could easily be wrong.

hilarious to watch the Romo haters in their desperation. A washout in cleveland is suddenly their great hope; until he stinks it up.

I would take Kolb at this point. That is how bad Weeden is.

Bring in Jared "The Hefty Lefty" Lorenzen. He can double as 1Tech or backup Guard.

Get over yourself.

Weed looked OK vs. Skins, he had a bad outing vs. a team we've struggled against (2008, 2011, last preseason) w/ Romo.

The others didnt offer much help.

Get over yourself

Where did I say Weeden was our great hope? Just more of your tiring spins to fit your agenda. I posted all summer that Weeden sucked and continued it leading up to Sundays game try reading my posts. All I'm saying is even as bad as he is he's still a better option than an undrafted free agent rookie QB who has never taken a regular season NFL snap. If you can't see that then your insight into the game is even more skewed than I originally thought.

If the Cowboys thought Vaughn was a better option than Weeden he would have been the backup to Romo entering the season. I've had it with your Romo hater crap and have given you every opportunity to knock it off. You ever again refer to me as a Romo hater or put anymore ridiculous spins on comments I've made you'll be off my discussion list and any further replies to my posts will be a waste of your time.

Everyone knows Weeden has flaws but he does have over 20 regular season starts to his credit which gives any team a chance to stay alive. The flaws Weeden has may never be fixed but the decision was made to go with him this summer as the backup and the Cowboys can't turn back now. They prepared HIM to be the backup not Vaughn who's gotten nothing but mostly mental reps since the preseason ended. Vaughn could have all the talent in the world and fail miserably because he's not prepared and doesn't have the experience to start. He's not going to lead the Cowboys to the playoffs if Romo has to miss an extended period. The same can be said for Weeden but the Cowboys have a chance to hang in with him for awhile due to his experience.

He did look pretty good against Washington leading the Cowboys to 10 of their points. All we can hope for is that if he has to continue to play that Sundays game was as bad as it will get with him. I watched Vaughn in preseason and he looked good at times and not so good at other times and that was against players battling for roster spots. The Cowboys certainly didn't see anything in Vaughn during the preseason to make them name him as the backup over Weeden. If Romo can't go for an extended period and Weeden gets hurt or continues to suck it wouldn't surprise me if the Cowboys do call up Kitna. They might get so desperate they could consider going after another veteran QB if any are available before turning to Vaughn. The Cowboys may be screwed with Weeden but they would be ROYALLY screwed with Vaughn.

So is that the answer to replace a complete scrub? Do nothing? Other teams can find guys but we're completely frozen. Bring Tanney back for all I care. Look at the CFL. Scour another team's practice squad. I mean, we brought Kitna back and you're telling me there's no one else out there that can give you better than a 37 QB rating? We have/had the #1 running offense. All we need is, literally, a true bus driver that can make the most common throws. If we want to stand pat with Weeden, then what can I tell you. He's that bad. If Weeden has to play again, and he just might because we're going to rush Romo back too early, then we risk our playoff hopes after a 6 and 1 start because we couldn't replace a scrub. He's that inept and it would be one of the biggest wasted opportunities I can think of.

What do you not agree with? No one here has been more against Weeden than me. lol I had debate after debate saying the Cowboys would be in trouble if he ever had to start...BINGO! As bad as he was Sunday it's certainly not out of the realm of possibility that he could play a much better game. As a rookie he had a terrific game vs Cinn passing for well over 300 yards and a 114.0 passer rating. It hasn't been all terrible with him which is why the Cowboys signed him. Colt McCoy sucked in Cleveland which is why the Browns used a #1 on Weeden in 2012. McCoy only lasted one more season in Cleveland than Weeden but McCoy having 2 years more of NFL experience may have been why he was able to play such an outstanding game vs the Cowboys last Monday Night.

Everyone said McCoy sucked prior to that game and laughed at the thought of him beating the Cowboys. There's a lot of things Weeden may never learn but Vaughn is in diapers right now when it comes to the NFL. If the Cowboys were to turn to him after the bye....SEASON OVER! If Garrett was ever asked if he would he even consider starting Vaughn he would say absolutely not! The Cowboys are going to be heading into the toughest part of heir schedule after JAX and they have no chance of staying alive with an inexperienced rookie QB who hasn't seen the field since preseason. Anyone who knows football will echo the same thing.

Kitna was one of my favorite people who played here, but I don't see him being interested. His one week contract last year was between semesters and even though the money is obviously better he didn't become a math teacher because he needed the money.
