While I hate losing, as I love my favorite sports team to be on the winning side and love football. What would be the boards feelings at this point knowing we would have all these high draft picks and possibly a new franchise QB?

Would your outlook on the future be the same? Would you be enjoying this season more?

Talk amongst yourselves…
I would be much more optimistic about this team if Dak WASN'T resigned. It would signal a commitment to a full rebuild. With cap money to do it. I know lots of people say it would be the Jones' doing the rebuild (very bad) but it has to start somewhere. Right now, we have to tread water for a minimum of 2 additional seasons after this one. Pathetic.

Hate Dak all you want fans, but all he is doing is cashing the checks that Jerry is giving him.
Dak could care less about his legacy, he getting paid.

I think Ben Johnson is a mad scientist who is a genius at what he does. Having said that Detroit is loaded on offense. Top tier WR, TE, and two top backs, plus the Oline. I don’t know his personality however and I just can’t see a young guy being able to work with these two old fools and have them at each and every meeting. It would be weird and uncomfortable. Unless he has moxie like McVay.
Johnson has done an Andy Reid type resurrection in Detroit.

For the other 31 teams it would have been the opportunity of a lifetime to land a top 5 Qb pick AND having dodged the poison pill of paying an aging Qb the top salary in the entire NFL

But here? This owner/GM would find a way to screw it up somehow

The timing of it hours before the Cleveland game? Like what?! Now we’re strapped to him and this is also with what is a 6-8 injury. He can’t even ride a bike for the next two months at minimum. The hamstring tore completely off the pelvic muscle!
He was signed in March. They only announced it on that day.

You could tell Dak was not worried every single time that question was brought up. Jerry's marketing. Keep the Cowboys in the headlines.

Where are all these high draft picks you mentioned coming from had we allowed Dak to walk? We couldn’t trade him. Had he walked it would have forced us to use our top pick on the best QB available even if they weren’t worth the pick. The chances of them becoming a franchise QB are slim. The team has tons of holes and blowing our top pick on a QB that goes bust would have set us way back. Re-signing Dak allows us to address other needs. It would have been terrible having to pass up a great DT prospect or another impact position because we needed a QB. No QB is going to have success with this bad team. We have gaping holes everywhere and will have more of them once we lose more players after this season.

If only Jerry listened to Steamin Willie Beamen four years ago. The time to move on from Dak was after the broken ankle in 2020.

And I dont want to hear about the draft being a crapshoot for QBs anymore as the excuse. This year has proven that you can sign a vet for the cheap and get similar results (Baker, Cousins, Geno, Darnold, Wilson)
In no way shape or form am I backing Jerry. Drafting a QB is a crapshoot however if Jerry actually did something during the offseason in regards to free agency for glaring needs at multiple positions (I'm not talking about dumpster diving even though that's what they like to do best) you can have a bus driving QB and still go deep in the playoffs with the likes of Cooper Rush and Trey Lance.. Dak is so overrated by Jerry and (unfortunately) half of the CZ fans. I'm not saying go after Derek Henry but if you found someone with his type of ethic and physicality and talent at a cheaper price tag, by all means go after it. The same goes for any position of need... Don't dumpster dive just to say "We have a running back." or dumpster dive just to say "We have a wide receiver" etc. Our offense isn't even mediocre.

I would enjoy the Season more if Dak Haters leave the Cowboys like the Tom Landry Fans did in the 80s ...

It will be Okay :laugh::lmao:
Dak Haters don't really exist. We only hate the Dak Davidians and their constant keyboard diarrhea.

You aren't going to enjoy this season or the ones to come. Your boy's career is headed for the exit and nothing you can do about it. Enjoy!!

It's okay to leave when he does or even before.:lmao:

Yep, that is why NO franchise has given Cooper Rush a chance to compete for Starting Job .....it's pretty common....oops Uninamous for ALL 32 franchises
You seem to enjoy having conversations with yourself.

Is Jerry Jones the GM in this fantasy scenario of candy land rebuilding?...Again like Dak dont like Dak how does Jerry Jones the GM having cap space (like he hasn't the last 30 years) mean we are better off? Until the GM changes the results will not change.....

Sadly the fan base does not understand why the Cowboys extended Dak. It was a business decision more than anything. Jerry didn’t want to get caught without a quarterback. As much as Dak has struggled in the playoffs he would almost guarantee a playoff appearance every full season he played. The Dak signing had nothing to do with trying to win a Super Bowl. It was about keeping the Cowboys relevant and in the national conversation. Dak’s pluses is he is a good quarterback and face of a franchise. The guy is the ultimate CEO of a franchise.

Well LISTEN HERE, if he DIDN"T get paid, he wouldn't be hurt right now because he's trying to get the big money, he would have been a hero and played through the pain!!! He's got the money so the fight isn't there like it would have been if he didn't
Now injuries are based on being paid or not......Is that what Trevor Lawrence did too? C'mon Coogiguy03....you're better than that.

Certainly...
I embraced the 1 and 15 1989 team because I had hope for the future.
I have no hope while Jerry is the GM, because he has proven he cant get the job done.
So, I have backed off my fandom quite a bit and hope they lose to force change.

Same problem that has plagued the Jerry/GM regime from the word go. He and his kid are poor talent evaluators even after all these years. So while the Dak contract is another in a long line of horrendous decisions, these are the same two decision makers that will be under taking their umpteenth rebuild. Give anybody else confidence?
NOT AT ALL !
We are doomed until we get a professional GM...... PERIOD !

i believe in time.

So ok, we re stuck with Dak and our future is bleak, but id feel a smidge happier, if we already had our next HC and he was able to see and determine what we have, but no, JJ is hard set on ham stringing the next HC as well.

All roads must be owned by JJ and SJ

Would we be able to score and stop the run? Because insane the GB game and they could’ve scored 70 if they kept starters in.
I think so, ya. If you keep Biadasz, you're able to use that 3rd to add a RB or strengthen the DL, and you have a proven pro bowler that knows how to make the right line calls. You keep Fowler and Armstrong, DE isn't the problem it has been this season, and you strengthen the interior. Maybe that 2nd spent on Kneeland could've been a WR. You keep Pollard and the offense isn't so one-dimensional. I was fine with letting him go, but nothing was done to replace him, because there were so many other needs elsewhere.

Instead, we went with a big contract for Dak, and without a great team around him, he fell flat, and then got hurt. People didn't seem to understand that we let a bunch of contributors walk in the offseason. What we're seeing right now, I called it back in May, and it doesn't get much better moving forward unless a bunch of guys step up. This was all avoidable, yet here we sit, staring down the abyss of mediocrity.
