Impossible to win unless the QB takes a discount

1. Never would have given a no trade clause.
a. You are basically saying we will resign you.
2. Draft a QB with legit College experience.
a. I like Parcells QB requirements.
b. Similar to what GB did with Love.
3. Tear it down rebuild.

We got nothing when Zeke left.
We got basically nothing when Cooper left.
Getting a late 3rd comp pick for Dak is basically nothing.

GM Jethro needs to hire a real GM.

fish just said this in one of his shows. He criticize jones boys for not going all in during the years dak was on his rookie contract.
The jones boys did not spend the extra money on good FA, during that time period.
Which shows they dont know what they are doing, and why it would do no good for dak to sign for less.

Thats why I say anyone taking a paycut for a team to do better, they should get to spend that $ on the FA they want.
You cant leave it to the GM or owner. Esp the 2 scrooge's aka the jones boys.

Brady had millions, so he wanted to win and signed for less than market value.

They should be greedy. Contact sport. Average NFL career is only 3.5 years. I don't see the owners negotiating to find a way to make the average carry 5+ years.

It’s not a discount to avoid overpaying. It is what the player is worth.

Only way to know what a player is worth is to have them test the market.

Discount won't matter. Stephen has no intention on signing any free agents above the minimum. They let hankins walk over a measley couple million. Dak could be free and it wouldn't matter to these fools.

Charron I think there's more truth to that statement than some might think. Common sense says if you overpay the QB to such a degree as is Dak, quality at other positions has to suffer. Arithmetic is arithmetic. So says common sense. But you're right, when has our FO been accused of having/using common sense?
While we the fans argue over signing this guy or that and for how much etc, ultimately like you said.......it wouldn't matter how much they paid Dak, they'd screw it up even if Dak was free!

This is how the Jones boys fool people. They could have opened up 40-50M in space and been plenty active. But that would have required a Dak extension. For those that don't want to see Dak extended, they can't complain about little free agency action.

I'm on the fence with a Dak extension, and leaning no. But I'd be all for it if they were actually going all in this year. Just to see it happen once!

Granted, it'd be interesting to see, if they were actually going "all in" this year, like you said. But they're not. Hard to tell what they really are doing, but it's not all in.

You're separating Jerry being a bad GM, from the Dak situation.....THEY ARE ONE AND THE SAME. Just as Dak is on the field, France easily identified and took advantage of Jerry's disposition of...'I like our guy's and i'll do anything to keep them'.

I agree about a real GM, however, I think we'd still be in this scenario, regardless of who was in charge as there's a large discrepancy between WORTH and MARKET..... there WILL BE, one GM that closes his one eye (and brain) to the play-off difficulties and can afford to take a chance, especially as Dak will probably take a short 3 year contract.

We do have a replacement, Trey, Dak fans were losing their mind on trading a 4th, how would you have reacted to us using anything more useful on a QB.

As much as I want to blame Dak’s contract on everything this isn’t true. I’m not sticking up for Dak as much as I’m bashing our horrible FO. Take a look at all the FA moves we made in 2017. If I’m correct Romo’s dead money was offset by Dak’s 4th round rookie contract. We did nothing in FA in 2017. Our FO is inept and likes to save on the cap and “roll the money over” and they did that in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

That’s the past behavior of our FO. Moving forward I strongly believe making Dak the highest paid player in NFL history and Micah the highest paid defensive player in NFL history will be terrible signings because Prescott and Micah disappear in playoffs and against strong competition. But I’m starting to believe if Micah and Dak took a veteran minimum contract the Jones still wouldn’t sign FAs.

They approach it like a business and they want a business investment that will only work out in their favor. That doesn’t equate to wins in the playoffs.

Agree, apart from the "wouldn't sign FA's"...... I think the FO issue is that we are obsessed with the 'star' contracts and then just fill out the roster with sub-JAG's.
The Jones' cant evaluate talent, so they do the easiest thing....spend on contracts to ensure their 'Stars' dont his FA. We overspend on the elite players, more so than any other team....compounded as they are unable to perform a trade.

Jerry and now Stephen still think they are Fooball Genii, but anyone can spend......until the CAP has to be paid.
