Well, see, there is the guy named Jerry rice and this other guy we might know even better named Michael Irvin.....

Treadwell will run plenty fast and then he will go physically take the ball out of the air much like Dez and he'll seem really fast as he runs away from guys he left on the ground.

Treadwell is a complete WR and there are maybe 15 in this entire league.
Any scout that knocks him is a complete idiot.

I just talked to my college buddy who is a scout. He said he knows he is an idiot but he still thinks Treadwell is slow but will still drafted in the top 20. BTW, he said he may be an idiot but he is a happy idiot doing what a lot of us would love to be doing and getting paid a well to do it.

The top 5 NFL WRs by yardage are all over the map for speed.
4.6x for Rice, 4.3 for TO, 4.29 for Moss, 4.5 for Tim Brown, 4.53 for Isaac Bruce. Our own Irvin was a high 4.5 or 4.6 guy.

YET ALL were considered speed players in that they took catches and scored.
Body control, leaping ability, hands and getting off the line quickly are far more important than 40 speed.

The NFL has largely begun to ignore 40 speed and focus on 10 yard speed at most positions.

How many guys get free releases and allowed to run 40 yards without pads or helmet?

I don't disagree. There are different types of speed. Some receivers are flat-out fliers. Others are so quick and smooth in and out of their routes that DBs can't keep up. Some know how to battle with DBs to create separation or make big plays without breaking the rules.

Long as he knows he is an idiot that works for me. He's not that big an idiot if he knows Treadwell is going top 20.

We'll see how slow Treadwell is at the combine....


No, most of us wouldn't love to be a scout. It pays for crap and is a tedious job with insane travel.
My high school coach retired to go scout for the Cowboys.
