Interesting Question: Who is the "Worst" Dallas Cowboy Ever?

Were Goodrich or Dixon starters for enough time to be considered?

People that were starters...

Rafeal Septien..child molester
Ryan Leaf
Quincy Carter
Hutch
Dat Dud

That was accomplished through great coaching, and great players . . . Who, in your opinion, was the worst Dallas Cowboy ever? [QUALIFICATION: To qualify, the player had to have spent at least 1 year on the roster, and despite their "talent", was a starter . . .]

I wouldn't give my opinion -- believe that some threads are more appropriately labeled for "internal" use ...and should only receive Cowboy responses. Hoeever, the general question could be applied to any franchise.

However, if the question were directed toward my franchise [Philadelphia Eagles], I would need to clarify some key points to help me make a decision.
such as ...

Are coaches/owners eligible?

or ...by "worst" Dallas Cowboy ...ever, do you mean on the field performance, or off field behavior?

or ...by "worst" Dallas Cowboy ...ever, do you mean someone who has tainted/lowered or soiled the image of the Dallas Cowboys Franchise?

finally, do you mean worst criminal record?

I ask because some of the above components could apply to others, while some do not apply to any of the others.;)

Tony Dixon.......

Great guy and all.

Probably not the WORST Cowboy ever. But the sting of taking Carter was made worse by drafting him over Rogers (I was jumping up and down thinking we had him).

QCarter
Stepfret Williams
Shante Carver
Tony Dixon
Shane Hannah
Kavika Pittman

All these players are the reason why I've changed draft philosophy. NEVER reach for a position. Always take the best player on your board. It was players like these that caused our freefall from the NFL Elite.

We're still paying the price for those guys.

I remember all the hype over Shane Hannah when he was drafted. He ws supposed to be the cure all for the OL and an instant plug in at center.
What we got was a turn sty in the middle of the OL.
Sorry, but after reading this thread Im really depressed on how many wiffs we made with 2nd and 3rd rounders.
I know every team has their share as well, but thats alot of wasted pics... :bang2: ... was Anthony Wright drafted? cant remember, but if so I would add him to the list as well.

Quinthy
Alexander Wright
Wane McGarity
Dwayne Goodrich
Elvis Patterson

There's tons more but it's too early.

I don't understand how Ryan Leaf makes the list. I don't like the guy and really didn't like the signing, but he was hardly around to make a difference. Plus that was a bad team, so how could Leaf be singled out as that bad on that mess that was the 2001 season. He started only 3 games that year. Clint Stoerner was a worse QB that season than Leaf and Wright and Carter weren't much better than either. If I were a San Diego fan, then Leaf tops my list of worse Chargers, but he was just a lowly blip in Dallas.

Danny Noonan, Phil Pozderic and Ron Francis come to mind when I think of worse Cowboys. Somehow they managed to stick around a few years without contributing.

That's pretty contradictory. If they were good enough to start, how could they possible be the WORST in team history?

Goodrich was a second round pick that couldn't of started for my semi-pro team. Therefore he IS the worst cowboy in team history, by far.

LaFleur the worst ever? At least he could run block and started a few years. He was actually decent till his back gave out. A bust? You bet. But far from "the worst" in team history.

I want to add Jerry Rhome to the list. He did nothing as a player for Dallas in the 60 or as a coach under Jimmy Johnson.

let us not forget our # 1 pick from 1978

larry bethea...was gonna be the next stud on the DL.....

never really was a "starter"...or a finisher !

couldnt quite get to Montana before "the catch "

arrested for stealing....from his mother

wanted for 2 armed robberies and then committed suicide.

couldn't even find him listed on http://www.pro-football-reference.com/

The starting running back in 1989 after the Walker trade. Was it Paul Palmer? Whoever was back there was horrible.
