14 Dak threads on the front page of this board...
Sorry not everyone agree with you. Dak contact within 3 years will not even be top 5 money, the cap will continue to grow., Evidently you see only 1 year in front of you. If you told me the cap will never budge then I would be more willing to agree but these contract are not some 1 year thing, and guys who looked to be making league high 3 years ago is not even top 5 money and considered a pretty damn good deal. So claiming if we do this deal that our window is 1 year? BS
Why so many assumptions? No one knows what Dak and the Cowboys have discussed or what either is thinking. And why is it ok for other QBs to get paid and not Dak despite him performing at a ridiculously high level? I don’t want to see him just get paid for the heck of it. I just want the forces of supply and demand to kick in and he get fair market value whatever that may be.
So in 3 years the contract won't look so bad?
So you agree with me that we may open a 1 or 2 year window in about 3 years if we're lucky...?
no.
gives everything he's got on the field.
he does everything the right way off the field.
not sure we could ask or demand anything else from the man.
he handles business.
too my knowledge....he didnt even hold out of camp before his deal was up.
not holding out now.
he wants the best deal he can get.
thats what he should do.
on the flip side...Dallas is doing exactly what they should do....get the best deal...long term...or short term...they can.
no bad guys on either side.
turn the tube off.
Yep, so why keep doing the same thing?Romo got paid elite $$$ while not achieving top tier success on field..
well, he is producing top tear, offensively which is his responsibility...team wins and losses are on offense, defense, special teams, coaches....but seemingly you are trying to put the entire win losses on Dak and only Dak, and holding nobody else responsible or accountable...why?All of the pundits and former players on the NFL shows say that the Cowboys are disrespecting Dak by not caving into his demands. Well, it can just as easy to say that Dak is disrespecting the Cowboys by holding out for a contract that will put him in the top tear of QB's pay wise while not achieving Top Tear success on the field. Along with not seeming to care that meeting his demands will hinder the teams ability to field a team necessary to help them achieve post season success.
No chances are the 1st year of the deal will be cap friendly with much of the money pushed towards to tail end, as the cap grows and as we restructure contracts they will be able to free up money. So no I don't buy into this false window BS
This is the problem. QBs who are on 4 year deals aren't extending contracts. They are looking to hit FA and do another record deal. The old way of doing business is not longer how it's done. Teams are going to agents and asking them to extend and they are telling ownership to pound sand. That's the problem IMO.

First off it's not all the pundits and really what side are former players going to take, the players side or managements side. Those former player remember what it was like getting paid. Next, contract negotiations is the business side of the NFL and the players know that teams aren't just going to take whatever demands they throw out. Players start out high, teams start out low and they negotiate to somewhere in between. Unfortunately with Prescott his agent France really didn't negotiate and just kept repeating the same demands. Prescott finally realized that and back on July 15th in the final hour or so Prescott was doing his own negotiating but they couldn't get the length and guaranteed amount done in time.
I seriously don't think Prescott thinks the Cowboys disrespected him and I seriously doubt that the Cowboys think Prescott disrespected them. They all know it's just part of the business side.
