We have one WR.....if you think a one-legged 35 year-old Glenn, two undrafted wr's and an unknown fourth round qb-turned wr is better than the Jags depth of Reggie Williams, Dennis Northcutt, Jerry Porter, Matt Jones and Troy Williamson than you are wearing your blue and silver coloured glasses a little too long.....not that there is anything wrong with that.

LOL... i don't care where they were drafted. It matters not.
Would you take an Undrafted Tony Romo over a 4th round pick Garrard?

From what I've seen of Porter and his stank cancer to a team attitude, Northcutt and his inconsistency,
Reggie Williams and his disappointing career,
Troy Williamson and his.... not even worth mentioning...

Yeah - I'll gladly roll with the question mark of 35 year old Glenn and Crayton over any of those guys.

At least you got an outside hope that TG can produce.
I KNOW those receivers at Jacksonville suck.

And I'll gladly take Stanback's and Hurd's potential over Williamson's.
At some point - you have to trust your draft picks.

Matter of fact - I'd put Miles Austin and Williamson on the same level.

Hurd and Austin are much better special teams players than Williamson.

This guy wouldnt be a bad pickup for a 4th WR,he is tall as heck and decent hands when i saw him play.

he wouldnt have a prayer of making our team, and even if he did he'd never see the field

but I'm sure the local Wendy's or Micky D's will be happy to hear he's "available"

I'd be willing to take a chance on him b/c I wonder if it's the Jaguars coaching staff that is maybe to blame. In the past 10 years, they've failed to develop a decent receiver. I realize that WRs bust on fairly consistent basis, but they should have been able to develop at least one into a pretty good player.

We also have Witten, you know, Pro Bowl TE, 1145 receiving yards last year, massively dangerous receiving threat, only 25 years old, etc...

Over Miles Austin?

Sam Hurd?

Please.

Jones has been a disappointment, but he's head and shoulders better than those guys.

And Crayton as well.

He would double Crayton's numbers opposite TO and Witten.

You want to count on Terry Glenn getting better, feel free.

Not me.

Agreed.

I really like Hurd and have visions that Stanback will be a stud, but Austin has yet to prove.

I'd like to see if new coaches, scenery, and motivation could pay dividends for Jones and the Cowboys.

Yeah, he probably wouldn't actually 'double' Crayton's numbers but I think he would put up better ones and be a bigger threat on the field.

Jones gets a bad rap and some of it is deserved, but Jacksonville's coaching staff hasn't done him any favors either.

I think a great coach like Sherman could work wonders for him.

And I'm not interested in counting on Terry Glenn.

Yes, he's available. In fact he squeegeed my windshield when I stopped at a red light.

So why is Matt Jones available?
Wouldn't you say we're more loaded at WR than Jacksonville?

And wasn't Matt Jones like a starter?
lol 41 catches? Wow.
Thats amazing for a starting receiver!

Matt has started 5 of the 42 games he's played thus far in his NFL career...

His numbers are pretty decent for a qb convert (it usually take a few years for a college wr to develop)and I agree that he probably isn't in the greatest situation there.

2005 36 432 12.0 42L 5td (1 start)
2006 41 643 15.7 49L 4td (4 starts)
2007 24 317 13.2 48L 4td (0 starts)

His 2006 numbers are really not that far off Crayton's numbers this past year as a starter.

Here's Hurd's numbers, I think he's shown some promise. This next year he needs to take it to another level, but so does Austin and Stanback. Somebody may have to go.(not Stanback)

2006 5 75 15.0 33 0
2007 19 314 16.5 51T 1

I don't know about Hurd - just seems like CBs are always glued all over him.

I don't know what your watching but Hurd's done well with his opportunities. His average is rather impressive. Here's Crayton's numbers, they compare pretty well in the second year. Hurd has a little bit more speed than Crayton also.

2004 12 162 13.5 39T 1
2005 22 341 15.5 63T 2
2006 36 516 14.3 53T 4
2007 50 697 13.9 59T 7

Crayton's second year was hampered by a pretty bad ankle sprain. He was also playing with Bledsoe at QB and he had a tendency to favour Glenn alot. At same stage of their careers I still think Crayton showed alot more ability than Hurd.

I still think the Boys are going to find a vet and getting someone like Jones for a conditional fifth is more than fair to me.

T.O, Jones, Crayton, Stanback and Hurd works fine with me. I just think they need more insurance in case of injury.
