No, now if he played for an actual team, or the Cowboys of old, then the answer very well could be different. With the cards he's been dealt, he has absolutely zero chance unless we somehow make a Super Bowl run within the next couple years.

His talent level is definitely capable of reaching the Hall, but fair or not, he's not worthy of it due to his atrocious playoff success.

Fair reply and you may be correct. I don't really know. He's on the path. They're still paving the road. Whether it goes to Canton or across the street to the Hall of Very Good I know not.

Hell..

Danny White has had better career stats than Romo and he's not in.

I'm not at all advocating Romo for HOF.

But Danny White's individual stats are not anywhere near as good as Romo's.

White had.....
  • less yards,
  • less TDs,
  • worse QB rating,
  • worse completion %,
  • more int,
  • much higher int %

Worse in all measurable areas.
His teams were better though, so that helped.

If Big Ben ended is career today 2 SB wins and another loss he wouldn't get in how do you think Romo would fair? Romo has zero shot at hof even if he would win. A SB he isn't going to the hof unless he buys a ticket that's fact.

Funny yet sad fact of the day, when discussing our very own players, if you swapped the background colors to the Philadelphia team colors you'd have no way of knowing if this is a Dallas Cowboy forum or not.

Try it. :(
Don't look at it that way. Consider this instead. CowboysZone is a stress reliever. It is a place where folks can pound their chests and scream "STELLA!" all day long. This site is a real asset for angry cowboys fans. Just think. If it were not for sites like CowboysZone, you would be hearing about this instead:

The criteria for HoF is fluid. Either get a bunch of championships like Terry Bradshaw or great personal stats like Dan Marino.

But the thought everyone has on a conscious/unconscious level is: when a game is on the line, a great QB will strike fear in opponents because he will find a way to win. In that regard, Romo not only comes short - he is the AntiBrady.

While I think Romo is salvageable if he were on a non-dysfunctional team with a coach like Jim Harbaugh, excellent is not great, because great would mean winning inspite of the things going on in Dallas.

As of this moment, yep. Same boat legacy wise, sort of. McNabb was the 2nd overall pick in '99 (which can be argued as a positive, or a negative, when compared to Romo), is arguably the best QB in Eagles history, 4 NFC Championship appearances and got to a Super Bowl. Still, very similar careers, though legacy wise McNabb is likely slightly greater than Romo at this point.

Similar careers? Romo has not been to the Super Bowl, has not even sniffed an NFC championship appearance, and he only has one playoff win.

Right now, I say no. That could change depending on the rest of his career.

You're tight, and I think it's important to say that he is on the path, and it is very difficult to even be in that position. To not even start your first full season until age 27 and have a chance to be in the top 10 all-time in yards, TDs and passer rating... it's very tough to do. Obviously, the Elway-like finish he will need to muster is becoming less and less likely thanks to Jerry's yearly paper-thin roster. But it's important to remember to get in the HoF you have to have a lot more going for you than just good teammates. You have to be pretty good yourself.

Well when threads like "Is Romo a Hall of Famer" are started, what else do you expect? Facts are facts, regardless of the player or team you root for.

It's not just Romo, it's other guys like Witten, Ware, and our other players. People here bash some of these guys as if they've been scrubs here, but really they're the only reason we've been competitive over the past years and not a team like the Browns. I just think it's funny how some fans are so quick to turn on it's own players, and they show no hesitation to knock them. Of course not all of our fans are like this.

I do think Witten is a HOF player. Tony no way.

I don't know if this has ever been debated, but is he or isn't he?

hAIL NO!

If so, he'd be the only QB in the HOF with ONE playoff win. Yes, he is still playing. No, he will never return to the playoffs with his chokidness and the bad cast of characters surrounding him.

The cowboys with Romo at qb are far closer to the browns stature in the league then Seattle GB or the giants

Romo gets credit for individual stats and gets hammered for team results....but just a reminder....

Dallas has a record of 63-45 with Romo as QB and has never had a losing season (4 winning seasons, 3 .500 seasons) when he was QB for most or all of the year.
Only a small group of QBs can say that.

Well yea, that's wrong to knock some of our better players like Witten and Ware, simply because they're not the same players as they were a few years ago, just because they've aged. I just think that the Cowboys fanbase is just so fed up with the lack of productivity that sometimes, the negative will outweight the positive, but at the end of the day, we're all here rooting for the team when the games are on.
