How many of you "Bledsoe bashers" were surprised at the numbers and the performance of the past season?? Honestly, I want to know. How many of you saw doom and gloom when he was signed, only to change your tune when we were 7-3??
Granted we were one win from the playoffs, but to put all the blame on Bledsoe for missing the playoffs is ridiculous. Bledsoe's not a kicker. He put us in position to win about 3 more games, and Cortez/Cundiff blew it.
And as for the NE roster in their Super Bowl, yes they had some good players, obviously they were in the Super Bowl. But 1996's roster was much different from the roster in 2001.
As for his performance in that game, two of Bledsoe's interceptions were in the 4th quarter when they were trying to come back. He really didn't have that bad of a game, he was forced to throw a lot because Martin wasn't doing anything, and because they were playing catch up.
The premise of our argument for how Bledsoe could be considered a first ballot HOF and regarded as a great QB depends on some IFs. I said if he wins a SB or two, he will get consideration. We're not arguing that he's the greatest ever.... I mean the Cowboys are being considered SB contenders this year, so is it so far out of the realm of possibility to suggest what will happen if he wins one?
You guys are quick to blame Bledsoe for his shortcomings as a QB, but don't give him any credit. You soud like a bunch of mediots. So sue us for being optimistic about our QB.
