It’s fascinating how hard the Eagles try and hide Hurts’ deficiencies

He doesn’t turn the ball over and drives the bus…. why couldn’t our “ elite “ defense stop this so called college offense. I swear we are looking for all
silver lining in a loss….we have to make changes going into Detroit.
.....we weren't ready for the position the Eagles placed Micah in with A.J. Brown....he was in no man's land and there was no DB in sight to defend. No adjustments made on that.

Now don’t get me wrong they are pretty good at it thus far, but the amount of smoke and mirrors and lengths they go to to avoid putting him in anything remotely resembling an obvious drop back passing situation is crazy. Even Baltimore didn’t do it to this degree with Lamar in his first full year.

He had 34 drop backs tonight and only on NINE did he not have a designed RPO, roll out or a single read quick hitter. On two of those he was sacked and on three more he scrambled. He threw the ball FOUR TIMES on traditional drop backs and had two completions.

I’ve never seen anything like it. It looks like a college offense. This is not sustainable.
Then why couldn't we shut down the run??? You double Brown and make Hurts throw!!

Great analysis from the OP, I have noticed the same thing from Philly all year.

They're 6-0...I'd say that it is working. They also can damn near run at will against an opponent.
We had a rough time stopping their run game.

It’s not sustainable because in the playoffs they will run into teams with defenses capable of containing it and offenses of our scoring them when contained.

With good QB play we win and probably by a couple scores tonight. And we aren’t the best offense or defense they will play in the NFC.
Who has a better defense than us in the NFC?

I think the point is that this type of offense won’t work long-term (see Kapernick)
I don't see a Kap type quarterback with Hurts. His play reminds me a lot more of Russell Wilson. Kap couldn't read a defense, and was dumb as a rock. Hurts does read defenses, and takes what they give him. I am really impressed with Hurts play this year. I have never seen him play with a big deficit that will tell you a lot about what kind of quarterback Hurts is. He hasn't really been pushed yet this year. Dak has had big comebacks so he's a proven commodity. Rush is a backup.

The chiefs are the same way, their offense is almost dependent on Mahommes scrambling and throwing 8 yards to a wide open tight end. Mahommes is not a legit pocket passer either, and throws a below average deep ball. I agree with you on Hurts, if you watched him at Alabama, he was not good. The big 12 doesnt play defense like the SEC so it made him look alot better at Oklahoma.

They still have NFL caliber athletes running it, with a great OL and skill position talent. So it’s going to have some success. But it won’t win in the playoffs.

Philadelphia has a better offensive roster than either KC or Buffalo. If Philadelphia had a top 5 QB it would be curtains in the NFC.
Just guessing you haven't seen Buffalo play much this year. I do agree Hurts is very limited, the Phil roster with a top 5 QB would be very difficult to beat. But you can probably say that about half the league. A top 5 is a huge difference maker.

I have often felt that the best approach for the NFL might be to permanently run an offense like this and draft a suitable QB every 5 years (or sooner if needed) to run it. It works all the time. Dak is an example, RG3, Hurts, the list goes on and on. You just gotta commit to it 100% and be prepared to draft a new QB when yours gets broken.

Hey. Good for them. It work for them. But it won’t work long term or throughout a season.

Everything the Eagles did last night worked for them. There were the first two drives that the defense couldn't stop and the lone drive in the second half that was the back breaker for the Boys. They just ran the hell out of the ball and the Boys had no answer for them.

They are peaking too soon. And they’re really really healthy. Let’s see how they do when adversity hits.

Yeah they should have lost a few games on purpose to "not peak too early", Also they lost multiple lineman so the whole very very very healthy comment is null. How about you just admit our OC could not scheme a game to save his life last night, and we almost beat them still with a backup QB.

I agree. This is a gimmick offense and will be figured out. Do they play the Patriots this year because Bill Belichick is awesome at figuring offenses like this out? BTW, if we didn't turn the ball over 3 times, I wonder what happens.
This 100%

Hiding deficiencies is what they should be doing. All teams have them, not all teams are good at hiding them. I can't fault them for going to great lengths to hide theirs.
