Really? Name a successful coach on any NFL team that worked under those conditions.

Pacman and Tank never played under Parcells. They were here under Wade.
Nice effort though.
That assistants under contract are kept by incoming Head Coaches?Doomsay;3686016 said:Pretty clearly delineated, I just don't think that you have an answer.
Yes, Jerry has said that.Dave_in-NC;3686018 said:No way Parcells wanted owens. I said Jerry brought in what Parcells was trying to get rid of. I should have worded it better. Jerry brought in what Parcells rid the Cowboys of.
Again has Jerry ever said I give coaches the freedom to run this team? Please show me if he has, I missed it.
Hostile;3686021 said:Yes, Jerry has said that.
This year in fact about Wade. It's in he video section on dc.com.
Parcells 100% did say he signed off on Owns coming here.
Hostile;3685719 said:There is video, right on this site, of Jimmy Johnson saying Jerry never interfered.
Barry Switzer has never said Jerry interfered.
Chan Gailey has never said Jerry interfered.
Dave Campo has never said Jerry interfered.
Bill Parcells has never said Jerry interfered.
Wade Phillips is never going to say Jerry interfered.
Now, either the media and the fans who claim this are dead wrong, or all of these guys are stone cold liars. Which sounds more reasonable to you?
In the PC yesterday two things stood out to me. Garrett was asked in the very last question how much persuasion Jerry needed given Romo was gone, tough schedule, 1-7 record, etc. His response, "no persuasion was necessary."
You're going to sit there and tell me that he witnessed Wade the puppet for 3 1/2 years and didn't need any persuasion to take the job when he can basically have whatever job he wanted for the last 3 years? Man, that's quite a stretch in logic.
The second thing that stood out was he said, "Jerry is a very good listener." To me that sounds like he isn't directing, he takes direction tries to give his staff what they want. Wade himself said that when he lost the DL Coach last year that he went to Jerry and told him he wanted Paul Pasqualoni and Jerry and Co. got the job done in 2 hours. He listens. You cannot simultaneously be a "good listener" and a puppeteer.
Every one of our coaches will tell you one thing. Garrett said it yesterday too. "It's Jerry's team. he can do whatever he wants." I can tell you exactly what he does want for his football team as it pertains to his Coaches. To listen to them, and then give them what they want. That is not interference, that is support.
Jerry has flaws, but the idea this man who is a self made billionaire is an incompetent, bungling, meddling overlord has no basis in fact that can be supported by any evidence beyond opinion of people who do not work for him.
Players and agents alike talk about how much easier it is to reach contract agreements with the Dallas Cowboys than it is other teams.
I understand the guy has said 2 things that give off this perception. He was "going to be involved in everything from socks to jocks," and "any of 500 guys could coach this team." Jerry is hands on, no one is saying differently. But he has never called a play, coached a game, insisted on a roster change, or in any way told one of his Head Coaches that they could not have what they want.
Two prime examples from recent times are Drew Henson and Terrell Owens. A member of this site overheard Jerry talking to Drew Henson's Dad at Training Camp the year he was released. Jerry assured his Dad that his time would come and he just had to keep working hard, and improving. Two weeks later Bill Parcelsl told Jerry that Henson did not have what he wanted and that he wanted to waive him. No fight from Jerry. Henson was gone. He loved the kid.
The Owens situation was more involved. Stephen Jones was the impetus behind him being gone. Jerry did not want to waive him. When the Coaches wanted to move on, we did. No questions asked. Millions of dollars down the drain for Owens contract that season. Jerry did not force it at all.
The idea that he is a puppet master is exactly what I said, patently false. There is no evidence to support it. Just fan and media opinion. Great sources of truth.

Name a team, any team, and I will give you an example. 31 other ones to choose from. Pick any one team.
Hudson Houck was not forced on Wade. Dan Reeves is a liar?Doomsay;3686097 said:Sure, some are kept some are released. Wade wanted Reeves, didn't get him, don't buy the back story on that. Had Hudson forced upon him.
Don't know any successful coaches that are brought in to season their replacements and that aren't allowed to talk to the media at the combine. Do you?

The last question doesn't even make sense. I couldn't begin to answer it.

McLovin;3686061 said:Every year he had a coach he liked and would klike to hang around with. It wasn't that he told them to let him call plays, but they treated him as an equal in football knowedge when he wasn't.
He finally realized that he needed a alpha football guy as opposed to 10 beta guys running around. He got that in Parcells. Again, I don't think he worked bad with Parcells, but Jerry really wasn't the Alpha football dog he aspired to be. Bill was sullen, more pessimistic and kept his foot on the throat of the operations. The team was trending up and Jerry 's answer was.
Campo part deux - Wade.

The people that hate him seem to still hate him, but even those that just disliked him are willing to wish him the best because he's now the guy.
