Zeke may be an idiot. I don't doubt that. But 6 games is a joke. He was never charged with a crime. The NFL should not be in the business carrying out a witch hunt against one of their star players. It doesn't make any sense. No charges, no suspensions. The NFL is bringing itself bad publicity.

I have no problem with it, hate that he's suspended for 6 game but there's nobody to blame but Zeke himself and I'd bet most of the players don't either....most of the players who conduct themselves as professionals are tired of all these negatives that some of these players bring to the league, it's a black eye and big companies and heir money don't want to be tied to woman beaters. the league is about money, it's a business first and foremost and they're going to protect the NFL shield and business at all costs..
now its ok to be carte blanc with punishment as long as the crime sounds bad and to heck with truth? I mean you even did it to make this reply sound legit by changing "domestic violence" to woman beating because subconsciously we all can relate to wanting someone to be punished hard for a "woman beater", puts us up on some moral pedestal to do so, but it takes guts to stand up on what this nation was built on and that is a persons innocence until one can prove as valid any claim of wrong doing be it all equal, whether it be domestic violence or stealing a quarter. in a whole year of investigation have we heard even a wimper of anything that says Elliot is a woman beater? no, exact opposite with even her friends calling her out and her own words condemn her as a liar.
the only thing he has actually done that can be called under review for personal conduct policy is the lifting of that womans shirt, but i have yet to hear anyone say that this is what the 6 games is for and if so, quite excessive considering the woman in question was an active participant.

Good point that will get lost on a lot of people. In many occupations, it doesn't matter if you've been arrested or the police didn't press charges. My job has a personal conduct policy that can be enforced even if I wasn't arrested. The NFL is no different.

This is true legally. But it is still unfair and assuming you are just a peon like the rest of us, your employer won't face much PR backlash for firing you. The NFL on the other hand could, if enough people cared about these unfair policies and how it compromises the NFL product on game day.

Here is a tip, Jerry and the organization knew all about this suspension. They didnt just find out.

If you think Jerry would ever in any way shape or from side with the players you are crazy. Just like nearly everyone on this board sided with the owners and wanted their football back and players are greedy as I recall.

I feel bad for zeke's parents if he actually did this. They have stood up for their son and he has made them look bad. I hope he didnt do it.

I dont care what the woman did for a living, I dont have hangups about women who are strippers or work in porn. That is their decision and if they are an adult and made it that is fine with me. So I am not a fan of shaming a victim if she was assaulted because she may have been a dancer.

Today sucks and this organization is constantly in this situation. That is the real problem here. Why does this kind of thing keep happening to this team?
No shaming of a woman because she is a stripper or a porn actress...questioning the credibility of a person who would actually make up a profession and tell the police this was your job is not even close to being the same...there are no job titles called Sex Slave...this shows the person to be a low character witness who should have their credibility questioned..in combination with the sworn statements and text messages where she tells her friend to lie to the police just shows even more how flawed this case was.

Zeke didn't make his parents look like fools...the NFL hurt Zekes parents because a sex slave decided to do what she told everyone she would do when Zeke broke it off and ruin his career.

I'll feel sorry for the sex slave when I see evidence that points to her being a victim.

You just explained all the reasons why it's not a court. The NFL and many companies with a personal conduct policy don't allow you to cross examine the witnesses simply because it's not a court. They present you with the findings and then you can file an appeal. If Zek has evidence of his own that mitigates the circumstances of his suspension, then the company (NFL) can take that under consideration.

And the police may have decided not to press charges for many reasons even though the lady may have been assaulted in some way. Companies like the NFL don't have the same legal standard as the police or the criminal courts.

now she is a "lady"?

no one is claiming that they have the same standard but if a court process finds nothing on which even to arrest you, how the hell can they say you did it. They gave him the baseline suspension because they think oh you did it. They are just afraid of the backlash if they don't believe its story.

Are you serious?

yes I am, this is not a situation where it can just do what it wants without consequence

As far as I can tell Zeke is being suspended for pulling a white girl out of her car a little too forcefully. Never any mention of belligerent physical violence.

Maybe if every excuse for Zeke's behavioral issues weren't blamed on Mara then I wouldn't comment on them so much. Since you're such an expert of reading all my posts, you should have seen the one where I explain why I normally comment in the Drama Zone only. Lol, apparently I have all day to post here and on the Gints boards, you got me man! Busted!
When the mere mention of "Mara" evokes walls of text from you, what does that say? Once the regular season starts, we'll see less and less of you.

anyone that cries about this being some pro-NYG conspiracy are morons.

The NFL protects the shield, full stop. and that includes not being sued into oblivion by women's groups or boycott campaigns impacting the owner's bottom line.

This is 100% Zeke's fault. Not Goodell, not Mara.
Whoa, whoa, whoa...eaaaaaaasy there fella. Before you know it the pitch forks will come out and you'll be burned at the stake for being an alleged Giants fan. First commandment of being a Cowboys fan "Though shall blame everything on John Mara". Second commandment "Zeke, nor any Cowboy, can do wrong".

Just a fair warning from someone who may know from experience.

We can agree, disagree or whatever. The point is Zeke is going to appeal and much to the NFL displeasure is also going to take it to the courts which regardless of the opinions on the board he can. Exactly what his attorneys are going to sue on his behalf or ask for a stay, it will be in Federal Court and most likely in the one the NFL brass and owners hate. Minnesota anyone? This matter is for from over and could very well carry out over another year. So buckle up and hanker down, it's going to be a long ride.

They're the NFL.

They do not need them.

You guys keep confusing real life with the NFL...

No confusion here. I was responding to your quote that we don't know what "facts' the NFL has or doesn't.

Since there's no legal obligation to tell them the truth, and nothing is legal enforceable, they don't have any "facts".

What they have is hearsay and opinion. That's a big difference.

Now if they had people file affidavits, that's a different story.

The NFL is not some rogue state that can do anything it wants. It still have to follow some elements of fundamental justice. This isn't even a case like 7 in Pittsburgh who paid off a complainant. Zeke has never paid her nor was he even arrested. Robespierre nailed him for six games without any real justification.

The only thing that can force the NFL to abide by some standard of "fundamental justice" or "procedural fairness" (to use the Canadian standard) is a public relations backlash from the public and fans. Once that becomes more important than the backlash for not looking like they are tough on suspected DV offenders regardless of how weak the evidence, then they will be forced to develop fairer procedures.
