It's going to be one of these three at #16

There are signs that Barr is the likely pick. Fisher thinks the Cowboys have Barr rated higher than Donald. According to Advanced Football Analytics, Donald has a 3% chance of being available at 16, Martin a 21% chance, and Barr a 75% chance.

I'm not sure Jerry is as willing to go o line in the 1st 3 out of 4 years as most. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't see it happening. I think he would exhaust a lot of options before picking an o lineman. Then again, Martin could easily go before 16 to make this debate irrelevant

Broaddus and some of the others on the Draft Show indicated that Barr was the top pick if both Barr and Donald was there.

If that's the case, then I wonder if they are thinking about trading back into the 1st to secure Easley. Rumor is the Seahawks like him as well.

Can say the same about dallas

I don't know that I agree with this but I can understand the reasoning. The difference between Chicago and Dallas, at least in my mind, is that Marinelli's scheme fits Donald top to bottom. I don't think that Mel Tucker's scheme really fits Donald. Pasqualoni, Herring and Tucker are all 34 guys.

Have you gone through the scenarios about who's expected to be there?

No way Donald gets past Chicago.

The Bears are very likely in the midst of a change to 3-4 with their coaches and background....Donald doesn't fit that (Melton didn't either by the way) and they are in desperate need of a safety.

I think the Barr/Donald/Martin trio is well documented as the target group. For the record, Barr is #1 on that list according to multiple sources (Broaddus, Fisher).

The real questions are:
1) Are we willing to move up to secure one of them?
2) If all 3 are gone, who is the preferred "fallback" option (i.e., Beckham, Shazier, any of the S's, Mosley)

If these three are gone, the next option is a trade down. If the trade down isn't available, then I think Beckham or Shazier are the fall back options.

I don't disagree at all. I'd be hard pressed to trade away from the BIg Three, but if gone, sign me up for the trade down.

I guess the chances are a bit slim that none of them are there at 16 AND we can't find any reasonable trade offer.

You do know Chicago doesn't have a starting-caliber safety on its roster.

I agree, but it depends on how high they have both on their draft board, if Donald is their BPA, they will take him.

I am still on the kony ealy train if the top targets are gone and the trade back deals are not worth it.

Donald can slide by Chicago because they don't have a safety. Chicago also has a plethora of Dlineman that they can use. Would Aaron Donald be a great pick for them? Yes, but if Dix or Pryor is there I don't think they would pass them up. I also think he slide past the giants because I believe they take Martin to solidify that porous oline.

IMO Donald will either go to the Vikings or drop to us. If the Vikings take Bortles, Donald will be the pick.

This. The Bears signed Lamar Houston, paid him 35$ million too then draft a 3T to sit on the bench. Not happening. They go S or LB IMO. But the Vikings and Donald are a great fit.

I don't see how he gets past NY or certainly not the Bears. Donald is the one of these 3 that I think we can forget about being there. With some luck Barr makes it to us. If he is there we need to take him, if not I am ok with a trade down as long as we don't get screwed in a trade again. Martin is a good player, and if we take him because Barr and Donald are gone, I can live with it. I just think you can get a good lineman in the 2nd if you are so inclined that would not be that far off from him.

I think that we will have a choice of Barr, Donald and Martin to choose from. The Vikings are not taking Donald, they have bigger issues including QB, OLB and CB. Plus they selected Floyd in the first round last year and picked up the DL from the Giants.

The Bears DC played the Tampa 2 last year because that was the persnnel he inherited. But they let Melton go and his type of DL is the bigger guys like Henderson when he was at Jax. Plus the Bears are in desperate need of Safety help. The Lions have Fairly and Suh already, and Donald would fit their scheme, but they too have other more pressing issues.

Donald would be a perfect fit for Tampa, but they are hot for Evans and I don't think they will go for Donald in their spot. The beat writer from Tampa basically confirmed that this morning on NFL radio.

The Giants have more pressing issues than Donald, all they have at OLB is UDFAs. Theyare in desperate need of a TE and Ebron is likely to be there, if not Lewan will be their choice.

All tese teams have bigger holes to fill than DL, and they have a chance to fill them at their slot. Just because Donald fits their scheme, doesn't mean they will ignore a bigger need in favor of him. Its like the Cowboys taking Ebron because he fits their passing scheme, but does nothing for their DL.

After reading and thinking myself silly (I'm such a dork when it comes to the draft this time of year), I feel like I've got a pretty good handle on what's going to happen at #16.

A week ago, I was convinced they were trading up. Two weeks ago, I thought they were trading back.

But now, my gut tells me they like where they are because one of three players will be there, and they're just fine with any of the three.

In order of their liking:

1. Aaron Donald. He's the preferred pick, and he's built much the same as La'Roi Glover in style, motor, and body type. He could get to them or go early, depending on potential early surprise picks.

2. Anthony Barr. Kind of a scary pick because he's a bit of a project, but he's the guy who most looks and plays like Demarcus Ware in his style and strengths. That, of course, is a need, too.

3. Zach Martin. A really good lineman who is thought to be a good tackle, and a pro bowl guard. That would further solidify an young, improving offensive lineman, and Jernigan, Easley, or Nix can probably be had in the second round.

One of those three will be there, and if not, that means somebody completely unexpected fell their way. That, or none of the quarterbacks have been taken, which is highly unlikely.

I actually agree with this here but I would certainly not rule out a situation where we trade down. But, in the end, I think that is what were looking at here.

I disagree, but I hope you are right.
