That's what I mean. I don't recall Escobar or Dunbar ever being productive lol. Especially Escobar.

Dez would've had better numbers with Matthew Stafford and he sucks. Its not a Romo vs Aaron Rodgers type thing. I never felt like they took advantage of what Dez was in the prime of his career. He could've done more despite already being a great talent.
Escobar had few receptions, but 6 tds and ypc > 8 in 2013 and 2014. The last full Romo years.
For a second TE, he was looking like an NFL player.
Then his numbers crashed post Romo, then he couldn't stay employed in SemiPro - (though to be fair, I think he did get some knee injury sometime after 2014).

I never felt like salaries tied up to veterans stopped us from contending. It hasnt' stopped anyone.
Lots of people feel that the caps don't matter, and I think cap and draft picks are the fundamental resources you have to build a team in the NFL. Getting the most out of both is what most of the contest is about.
What you can spend outside those limits on staff is where we have an advantage, though we're also saddled with Jerry as GM as a deterrent to the best coaching talent.

I'll bite. Ungrateful for what exactly? All those playoff wins and SB appearances the last 27 years? I'm not trying to be a jerk, but we fans have earned every right to gripe. I think 90% are fine with Dak and think he can win. I think you need tio give the vast majority of fans more credit. We are informed. My issue has been the situational play calling. Lets see if we fixed it. We are lucky 2 have Dak because its hard finding even a middle of the road QB ,let alone, a guy that can flash at times like him.
I think the writer is a regular on CowboysZone. He might not post, but he definitely gets some of his ideas from us.

It’s a tough position to keep fans happy. Even Aikman was booed off the field in his last years.

“Those 61 wins are tied for 5th in the NFL since 2016 when he was drafted out of Mississippi State.”

This says it all about our cry-prone half of our fanbase. It’s that when anyone talks about win stats to show he’s a good QB then it’s a team game.

When you being up great individual stats (like when he was leading the league in passing that year for instance) it’s stats don’t matter.

Other than winning, I’d say, at least, two super bowls, some won’t be able to give him credit. Then they begrudgingly might.

I’m not even sure it a their fault though. There’s clearly some sort of real mental block that logic and reason can’t penetrate.

Couldn't agree more. It's incredibly difficult to find a solid starting QB. We got one undrafted and one in round 4. There are several franchises who STILL haven't found a franchise QB. You're not going to win a SB every year. I'd like for us to have more playoff success. That said, all things considered, Dak is a solid QB. Just a pity that he was stuck with Garrett for as long as he was.

You know damn well they ain't read the article lol. I'll keep reiterating, how we win games with such a bad Qb, such a bad Coach, and such a bad GM. We must have all pros at every other position

I think Mike is a better coach than he's given credit. However, Dak was kneecapped with Jason Garrett for his first 4 seasons. He's just now getting into a situation where he's no longer going to have any Jason Garrett -era influence in the coaching staff. I think now he is in a better position. As Mark Holmes was saying a few days ago, the trouble with Kellen Moore is that some games, his game plan looked like Kyle Shannahan, while some games he looked like he couldn't coach a high school team. Hopefully, now that we will have experienced playcalling and experienced coaching, we should be more consistent week to week.

Most of the ungrateful fans that claim Dak sucks and is a liability weren’t watching the Cowboys in the mid to late 80s and early 2000s.

Exactly, especially with the likes of Ryan Leaf, Clint Storner, Chad Hutchinson, etc

I get he’s not Patrick mahomes but they hate has reached silly levels imho

Let’s see what he can do without a 3 yard anchor in the backfield

And a playcaller who was world class one week, and couldn't coach a high school team the next. Mike McCarthy is experienced enough to know how to adjust a game plan.

yeah, I agree guys let's blame everybody but the guy Mike said wasn't elite and has to bring in another quarterback to train him so he doesn't keep choking. I like Mike, he knows what he has.

Whaaaa? And he didn't give us proper credits in his article?

CowboysLakerBamaFan might be a fan of the four greatest sports teams on earth...including the GA Bulldogs and Manchester United....but he's not a fan of using people using OUR collective genius here with not giving the legally required credits somewhere in the document

I was slow to come around on Dak. I was buying in, but the lack of progression in the playoffs is a real thing. He has to overcome that. I'm fully aware that the whole team didn't play as well as they should in our last games, but Dak's play is squarely on Dak.

I'm still hopeful. I still like him. But, he's not a new QB. His draft status doesn't matter any more. Whatever the rest of the team does in our last game of the season, Dak needs to BE the man, if he wants to control the narrative.

What has Dak done for the Cowboys in his seven years as QB or ever for that matter. He has not been to a championship game or a SB for that matter. He sounds like another
Romo to me. Just another Jag playing for big money in the NFL. If you want to glorify NFL QB's look at Mahomes, Brady, Rogers, or Burrow. Now those are actual winning QB's.
