Romo made steak out of a lot of hamburger.

So many players that Romo got production out of simply evaporated w/o Romo throwing them the ball. Escobar couldn't make it in semi-pro ball. Dunbar. TWill. Hurd. Austin.

Dez is not Dez w/o Romo. Certainly was never Dez with Dak.

I think Robinson had something before and after Romo. But under Romo, that something turned into a pace for pro bowl production.

The only guy who looked decent post Romo was Crayton, and that for Rivers, a largely equivalent QB in terms of elevating the players around him.

Robinson is a great example. Miles has talent, but he wasn't willing to go all in and had a rep for refuing physical therapy rehab if I remember correctly.

The rest of the guys I don't see much argument. Escobar and Hurd weren't anything at any point. Dunbar was just a talented player who stayed injured.

I'm pretty sure Beasley had his best season under Dak though.

Another huge problem is his coaching hires. I even say McCarthy was technically a bad hired that turned out to be a good hire. But they hired him so fast....they had their eyes on him and stuck with him. I think thus far its worked out. Cant' be upset about two back to back 12 win seasons. Jerry's coaching decisions have probably been the most criminally thing he's done. More so than trading for Claiborne, Roy Williams, Joey Galloway...whoever. Coaching goes a long way.
Post Jimmy was pretty much Jerry learning how to run an NFL team without adult supervision.
Things got better with Parcells and then Will McClay putting a real football guy near the top. I think even Stephen has helped give a more long term view to the cap and provide some support to McClay vs. Jerry.
Management is a real job. Who knew?
A shame that The Team That Parcells Built was frittered away by Jerry's management of coaching, all centered around Garrett as Jerrystein's Monster. Wade had his own limitations, but Jerry hamstrung him by picking HC in Waiting Garrett before he even hired Wade.

Beasley's best season was 2020. Gross yardage and yards per target.

Yeah Wade was a terrible hire but yeah you hired Garrett first. Wade never stood a chance. Campo either.

Ah Parcells, the coach that continued to use the qb as the holder when nobody else did.

I thought it was because Drew didnt' want to do it? But I mean there were other options. That mistake probably cost us and Romo more success. I just feel like that had a chokehold on Romo's legacy.

Wade was a great DC. That's bringing more to the table as a HC than a lot of other HCs. Maybe just a bad HC too, but as you say, he wasn't given a real chance here as a HC.
Too bad. That was a team with real possibilities.
And then the Roy trade. Ugh. So brutal. It cost picks, cost money, *and* put an inferior player on the field.
Jerry gonna Jerry.

It did bring something to the table but he should've never been given a team. He was a DC. Even his voice as a DC doesn't last very long.

Eh. Once we were going for the kick, I thought we were already doomed.
Seattle had a great long range kicker and The Biscuit was a massive liability in coverage. Just throw it at the Biscuit and march down the field for the game winner.
The bobble gave me *hope*.

Recall also that the "chokehold" was actually #SlickBallGate, prompting a rule change the next year.
Much as the #UnCatch prompted a rule change.
And if Grammatica doesn't completely whiff, Tony makes a 1st down and we're headed for a TD a victory.
And then if Crayton doesn't pull up on the winning TD pass against the Giants, good chance we're headed for the SB.

People like to scapegoat Tony, but his supposed "chokes" were mainly getting robbed by the league or hamstrung by his teammates.

Poor Wade was a 'country boy' in Jerry's Dallas. Loved and respected the man, boo Houston.

That site says he only started 6 games in 2016. With a rookie Dak and being behind Witten, Dez in targets...pretty impressive.
2016 was a great season for Beasley, but some of that was just teams not knowing he was more than just a guy yet.
Once they figured that out, they held him back in 2017 until he upped his game again in 2018,2019.
But still, In Buffalo, he was a #2, and still had his best numbers. He was a guy who just improved year after year until his body ran out of gas.
And didn't he quit the team during training camp as a rookie, but the team cut him slack and let him come back?
Game of inches.
Management should be given some credit for that one.
I was always a Beasley fan, but was ok with letting him go relative to what Buffalo offered. He did better than I expected.
A true Rudy story.
Maybe they're make a movie someday.

I was a big fan of Beasley. Somebody here pointed out to me that he was only averaging about 35yds a game. Not sure which year that was, but it surprised the heck out of me. He sure had a great knack for moving the chains.

They had to actually talk him in to coming back. They do deserve credit for recognizing he had something.
