You guys act like his visit being over means that he's completely ruled us out. These guys are making career decisions, give them some time

We went 8-8 two years ago with an average defense because Our offensive line sucked. The offensive line has been fixed. The defensive line has to be fixed now. How long did it take to find Tony Romo after Aikmen left? Do We want to have a great defense with a scrub Qb? 8-8 at best and We are right back to where We are now.

id rather be 8-8 with a healthy cap than 8-8 with an unhealthy cap and nothing to show for it.

Don’t expect a final decision today from top free agent defensive end Jared Allen.

The plan all along has been for Allen to fly home today after his visit with the Dallas Cowboys is finished and discuss all of his options with his wife, according to a source.

Allen’s visit with the Cowboys was for him to get a feel for the team and the coaches, the source said, before ultimately making his final decision on his future. The source said Allen is expected to make a final decision “over the next few days.”

Being here in Chicago, I've always wondered if he was always wanting to see if the Bears came back around. I know he is a Texas kid but once you settle in, some people don't like the moving around.

If You rebuild now,Romo will be gone before the defense is competitive. You can not win without a good quarterback. Do You not remember Quincy Carter? Sign them both and draft defense in the first 2 rounds of the draft and We can compete this year. We won 8 games last year with a historically bad defense. With a average defense, We could win 11-12 games next season.

Which is why it was a mistake to resign Romo to the contract we did. This is what people never seem to get when you discuss Tony. It's not personal and it's not that we think Tony is a terrible QB or a bad guy or whatever else. It's that anybody who understood that you can't win with what we have, also understands that Tony will likely never be able to win either. The contract just limits Tony and the team, long term.

Doesn't really matter. We are in it for the duration now so lets just let it play out.

Nope. It just turns out the wifey poo makes the decisions in that family.

Which means she actually likes the mullet.

This.

That said, I have zero interest in Jared Allen. Planning on retiring if no one pays him enough? Yeah, I saw enough of that last year with Lance Berkman.

Jones: "Come on now Jared...we want to sign you, and uhhh, have you be a leader on our defense. You have that fire that we need."

Stephen Jones: "Yea what Daddy says."

Allen: "Thanks Mr. Jones. I would like to be a part of it too. I just need to talk it over with my wife first and I'll get back with you."

Jones: "Now come on Jarren...this is the Dallas Cowboys! We want you to be a Cowboy! We're willing to pay you a lot of money here."

Garrett: "Jared - your the right kind of guy we need on this team. We'd be delighted to have you join our ball club."

Allen: "I definitely appreciate that Mr. Jones and Mr. Garrett. I just would like to evauluate all of my options with my wife before I make a decision."

Jones: "Jarney, come on now. Who is wearing the pants in the family now? Uhhh...why talk with your wife? She make all your decisions?"

Allen: "Ok now. It's not like that. And my name is Jared."

Stephen Jones: "You're a girl Jared! Daddy says you're a girl!"

Allen: "Ok, I'm out of here. Good luck going 8-8 again."

Jones: "Whatever Janet. Go Cowboys! Now someone call up Keith Brookings. Let's bring him in for a look."

.....Wow I'm bored, haha.

Frankly when a free agent leaves without signing ... that means hes not going to sign with that team at all.

Is he signing with nobody then? How do you know he's not just thinking over his options?

For better or worse We are tied to Romo the next few years. We might as well go all in and try to win now. This includes improving the defense with quality players. We can go in full rebuild mode when Romo leaves. We can cut dead weight then and hope to get lucky and find a qb with a hight first round pick.

I would really like to have Allen but maybe he wants to much cash. He has some wear on him and maybe wants a deal for more years than our FO thinks he can play.

I would like him but not break the bank on him. I don't think he is worth it at this stage of his career.

Oh well, he isn't going to be a huge difference maker one way or another. Let's be honest. Solid, maybe.

yes, the division is goign to lay down again and its going to be easy to just win it all with what we have. I see nothing wrong with that blueprint.
