Allen had 12 sacks, 19 qb hits, and 49 qb hurries in 2012 (1149 snaps.) In 2013 he had 13 sacks, 18 qb hits and 34 qb hurries (1083 snaps.)

Ware had 14 sacks, 13 qb hits and 32 qb hurries in 2012 (896 snaps.) In 2013 he had 6 sacks, 8 qb hits and 34 qb hurries (648 snaps.)

I hope we sign him. I would think a 3 year deal that is really meant for 2 years would be the way to go that his camp would actually agree to. The thing is it's gonna have high figures - we have painted ourselves into a corner and don't have much in the way of options.

I do understand how highly unlikely this is but if the Cowboys could get both Melton and Allen I would feel a little better about our D-Line going into the draft.

If we get both guys..

I'd think it might shift the draft priorities away from DL for the first couple of picks..

I think he would be a great vocal leader for the defense. The Cowboys need that

Good point, Allen is definitely a leader on defense and would be very valuable. As amazing as Ware was he wasn't necessarily that vocal leader for the team, he led by example. Allen is nasty, high motor, never stops and is passionate. Not sure why anyone would be against having him short term while we rebuild the defense.

I wouldn't give him the money Ware got but it wouldn't be terrible, he's worth it and if its short term, it won't hurt us. That being said, they'd have to restructure or backload the deal to give him that much which is a bad idea for older players obviously but if its two years, it's worth it.

Give Allen 15M guaranteed on a 3yr/30M deal and be done with it already Jerry. Do not let this guy fly out of Dallas without a deal. Allen provides more ON and OFF the field than Melton does, age be damned. Allen may be old, but he is healthy and still producing at an all-pro level.

Ware had 11.5 sacks in 2012. Allen had 11.5 in 2013

Allen + Melton and call it an off-season.

Glass would go from half empty ------> half full

Healthy Allen/young Melton is an upgrade over injured Ware/old Hatcher. And we'd be saving money, too. If we somehow sign these two guys, I'd be pretty excited about our offseason so far. And if we could somehow still land Donald in the draft, oh man.

Might not be Melton and. Might be Melton or Allen.

Either way, before we cut Ware I was speculating swapping him for Allen at a two year deal that was straightforward with a club option on the second at full market rate for a ten-sack player. It makes some sense since we desperately need a stopgap there. Thought it was a more likely option than asking Ware to take the same cut. And Allen is maybe less risky for injury (if not as good against the run at this point).

If I had to choose I’d go for Allen.

There are more options at DT in the draft than DE and the likelihood we’d have a shot at the guy most suited to our needs (Donald) is quite high.

And to think that all the jumpers were out on the ledge with those couple of rotational depth DL signings last week.

Let the PROCESS unfold and see where it goes!

Seems that they'll throw a lot more money at Allen that Melton is gone
