Actually it means change...as in, he could have experienced something similar in the past at the college level, so experiencing it again wouldn't be "new". But experiencing it from one team to the next would constitute change.

At any rate, established vets getting their own room is hardly spoiling them. It's a perk given for continuously producing at a high level. Much like a company handing out a Christmas bonus isn't "spoiling" the employees or "catering" to them.
