He signed a 1 year 1.75 million deal with the Bears last year, I can't imagine it's that significant of a contract to negotiate. Holdup likely around guaranteed dollars or the Cowboys hoping they could stretch this out to after game 1 so they don't have to guarantee anything. :)

That $1.75M deal was because he was 39 years old and coming off an injury-plagued 2020 season with Philly.

After having a very good 2021 season with the Bears and with the Cowboys probably needing him to be their starting LT for much of the year, I’m guessing he’ll ask for a lot more than $1.75M.

Maybe like $5M or more based on incentives. We’ll see.

The NFL is an offensive passing league for the purposes of TV entertainment. Defense is controlled by the Commish and his officials to ensure that eyeballs
keep watching and buying tickets and other goodies. The NFL is an entertainment business.
So your saying Parsons and Cowboys defense is worthless?:facepalm: The 49ers went to the NFCCG because of their defense. Cincinnati went to the Super Bowl because of their defense. The Rams won the Super Bowl because of Donald and Miller.

What we know:

1) The Cowboys met with Peters on Friday and Saturday and all indications are that the meetings went well.
2) His agent has said nothing indicating that they were leaving or were open to exploring other options.

I think the chance of Peters staying in Dallas without some sort of arrangement in place are about zero. I think this because of how every other UFA visit at an NFL club has gone. The UFA leave if they cannot come to an agreement and I can think of a whole slew of reasons why they would not want to announce it until later.

... I'll be a Buffalo Bills fan and forget the Cowboys as Jerry has forgotten us.

After my passion for the Cowboys I am a Bills, Vikings and Seahawks fan.

Also a part of me as an NFL fan wants to see the Lions, Browns and the Bengals get their first SuperBowls before I expire.

The Cowboys would likely be OK with 5M if they knew he would remain healthy all season; however at his age health has to be a concern.

They could do a Greg Hardy contract where he was paid per game.

1M salary plus 250K per game would total 5.25M if he played 17 games or 5M for 16 games. Playoff games would increase the total.

Who cares...Lots of sports media sources expecting Dallas to fall off a cliff by mid-season and finish 6x11. Wholesale scrubbing and
rebuilding after this season.

We have 17 rookies. There’s nobody saying we will be rebuilding. We’ve been rebuilt.

I frankly don’t care anymore, he’s not playing week 1 he’s a depth signing at this point

time to get excited about the team we have
That is a bummer, meaning he was not in shape and he might take 2-3 weeks to get in playing shape, meaning we have Ball as Backup . Hope Tyler and Terence hold the fort and Dak survives. Fergussson and may be even Farniok will be the extra blockers ? ( in pass plays)

My question is;

Would he be here to play lt or lg?

What's a better line until the other smith gets back ?

At Jason's age, it would be easier for him to play inside as he's lost a step. I think it is evident by how he played for the bears last year.

Hey, Jason Peters said the Cowboys are arrogant.

Makes me lose respect for him. Either he was just talking nonsense to appease the fans or he's willing to sell out if the money's right.

As “early” as Monday? Seems like this saga has been going on for several days. If he does sign on Monday he’ll have less than a week to prepare for the season opener. The Cowboys may have to go with Tyler Smith in the opener.

There are lots of ways to keep the faith. Yours is fine...and I've had mine since year one. Believe me, I've seen it all. Yet I love them and the game of football even yet. Good sport and an interesting team, to today.

Thanks, Cowboys!:starspin:

There are similarities between Jerry's Cowboys and a casino slot machine,,, it's all random and the odds are always against you, but it's still fun to play and hope that occasionally the planets will align,,, or cherries or lemons, etc.

The Rangers have been in Arlington 50 yrs this season and no WS . So 26 yrs in between SB trophies is a piece of cake ….old cake but cake .
