My issue with bringing in Eifert, is he'll end up being a progress stopper. Do I think Jarwin or Shultz will ever be as good as Eifert was in the past, when healthy, no. Do I believe one of them can eclipse what ever Eifert will do in the future? Yea, I think that is possible. And that doesn't even include a TE that we may take in round 2 or soon after (hopefully). With our luck, he'll do just enough that the younger players miss valuable reps and then he goes down when we need him the most.

One guy was a 1st round talent. The other guys were undrafted and a fourth rounder. Personally, I'll take "talent" over the talk of a "progress stopper".

I'm glad it doesn't, because that 2nd round or later TE isn't doing anything for this team in 2019 anyway.

With our luck, he'll do just enough that the younger players miss valuable reps and then he goes down when we need him the most.

Or he actually plays and we get Pro Bowl talent on the cheap. It can go either way.

I doubt they care. They also likely know Smith and Eifert are friends back from their ND days.
Swaim has a job that pays him $700k per year. Having a coworker publicly lobby for a guy to get hired that will be inserted into you position and will instant put you either on the bench or out of work isnt something you just cant care about.

Now I am not expecting fans to care. But I can't see any scenarios where a player who may have just gotten put out of work in a job that pays 700k per season wouldnt care. Especially cosidering how much rehab work and time Swaim has been through this season.

I'm not sure if guys know which guys are friends around the league. We dont even really know if Eifert and Smith are really 'friends'.

That said I believe we need real help at TE and I hope we get it.
Im still mad at the Eagles for jumping us and drafting Goedert. (if we would have even drafted him).

Boom.

Progress stopper.

Surprised it took 4 pages for someone to utter than inanity.

You overestimate how much players care about stuff like this, especially a guy lobbying for someone he's friendly with and went to the same college. As I said above, Eifert was one of Smith's hosts on Smith's college visit (side note, Eifert almost got into a little bit of hot water with the NCAA because he tweeted something about Smith and that was considered a no-no by NCAA rules).

You are lamenting a story that doesn't really exist.

Swaim is a free agent. Do you think he's worrying about what's best for the Dallas Cowboys? Or what's best for Geoff Swaim?

They claim they wouldn't have anyway.

And you are underestimating how human players actually are.
And its tough to say I am overestimating something when I never made any brash proclamations about it. I just simply said the other TE's must feel real special reading this. You claimed they dont care. I claim they are humans and humans care.

Of course he is worrying about whats best for Swaim. This does nothing to make me think he wouldnt feel a little something about Smith lobbying for us to spend large amount of TE money on someone else.
Where is the debate here?

The debate surrounds the fact you've made a mountain out of a mole hill here.

Show me where I did this?
You can't. In your typical fashion you feel the need to disagree with everyone and now you are called out and prefer to pretend I am the one reaching.

Weak.

I'll save you the searching drama queen.

Here is the mountain I made. So scandalous

I always find it interesting when a player publicly lobbies for another player not on the team.
It has to make Jarwin, Swaim, and Schultz feel real special

The "debate" is who cares what Geoff Swaim thinks about it, when Geoff Swaim is only worried about Geoff Swaim? He wouldn't waste a second thinking about what's best for the Cowboys, and neither should the Cowboys waste a second worrying about what's best for Geoff Swaim.

You do what's best for this team, at all times. And maybe if they focused a bit more on that and less about someone's feelings, they might get better results?

Swaim might want to see what we have to offer him. He might be more valuable to us then other teams.

So you brought it up? That's where the "drama queen" came into the equation. Worrying about how a potential move to improve the team might make someone "feel".

Odds are 5:1 Eifert and Lee collide in practice and both go on ir.

You need to pull ideas into the debate (if thats even what this is) that were never apart of it in order to pretend their was a debate.
At what point did I say the organization should care about Swaim's feelings? This is weird. Its like you have a need to argue so you start putting words in others mouths so you can argue. Yikes.

So what then were you saying? Why did you bother to bring it up then? You want to project all of this on everyone else, when the genesis of the whole conversation is you - and worrying about what poor Geoff Swaim might think about all this? And then you have the nerve to call anyone else a "drama queen" about anything? That's hilarious! Go look in the mirror, at the guy all caught up in Geoff Swaim's feelings.

Are you pencillin Eifert in @Hawkeye0202? IDK, 43 games played in 6 years says he's injury prone to me. Could be the Sean Lee of TE's ;)
I agree with your post. However, this is Eifert's 7th year vs. Sean Lee's 10th year in the NFL.

Eifert is elite at 6-6-255, 4.65 40 yd time, 35 1/2 vertical, and his short shuttle and cone is WR elite. So basically you can not coach what God gave him. He is also a very good in line blocker. Basically he is an injury prone Jason Witten. The seasons he completed was all rookie TE 2013 and Pro Bowler 2015. He was hurt in the 2015 Pro Bowl which is why the 2016 season was lost.

If we are not going to resign Swain, and move on from Gathers, then Eifert is worth the signing because he is better than anyone on our roster...when healthy. Emphasis on the word "when".

Eifert's brother in law is Zach Martin. That's the Cowboys connection

Again what are you talking about?
Please tell me what I am allowed to think about. I never said I was worried about anyones feelings. This is you needed to add words to someone else to keep an argument going.
So I read a tweet from Jaylon and I wonder how the current TE's feel about this. I am not Jerry Jones. I dont make decisions for who we sign. You are one of those guys that seems to get lost in football message board talk and reality.

The initial comment was just in good fun.
You launch into a debate pretending we somehow impact what happens to the roster. Which role are you playing today? Stephen? Jerry?.....can I be JG today? Gotcha.
