I saw another draft for need code word in this thread. They are constantly re-packaging and wrapping that awful idea.

"Luxury" pick. The Cowboys can't afford those.

What is a "luxury" pick you ask? Well that's drafting a player at a position where OMGHECANTSTARTRIGHTNOW!! Totally different than draft for need. Don't be silly.

Avoid those "luxury" picks if you're one of those teams (not necessarily needy!) that can't afford those.

100% pulling for Smith.

It's just frustrating how we keep handling our 2nd rounders....which should be borderline locks to be big contributors by year 2.
I know it's cheating to look back but

Just 2 recent examples:

  1. When we took Escobar, we passed on :LeVeon Bell and Jamie Collins right after him
  2. When we threw away an extra 2nd to take Claiborne, there was Alshon Jeffrey, Bobby Wagner, and LeVonte David all sitting there in Round 2 (not to mention our 1st rounder we gave up as well)

It just gets old
Here's hoping we at least get 75% of Smith's rookie contract.

What a shame. Regardless of whatever team these guys play for, I always wish for a successful career,

Did you read the whole thread or just the first post with the tweet?

At least find the post with Werder's other tweets in it.

Jaylon Smith is the "next black Luke Keuchly"

Irvin discussed Dallas' second-round pick with 105.3 The Fan's G-Bag Nation.

"I'm telling y'all right, I'm telling y'all right now, and I need all the people talking about this Jaylon Smith kid -- I'm gonna tell y'all right ... now. I kept his card; I got the card right here next to me. ... I'ma hold on to this card, and when I see this kid in Canton, Ohio, I'ma have him sign it for me. It was one of the greatest thrills of my career to sit and announce that pick, and when he made that pick, when he picked Smith, oh my God! Oh my God! I was off the wall, off the wall. ... I know he has adversity in front of him, but I know the kind of dude he is. He'll come back. ... The baddest man in the league right now, the baddest linebacker in the league right now, Luke Kuechly, I call Luke Kuechly 'the white Ray Lewis.' I said it myself, Jaylon Smith is gonna be the next 'black Luke Kuechly.' That's what we just got, you understand what I'm saying? ... This dude is bad, for real. This dude would've been a top-five pick also, had he not been hurt."

Yeah I understand the optimism.....no trying to sugar coat it.

What did you sugar coat (or not)? You said what a shame, as if it was a foregone conclusion that he will not recover. That isn't settled yet.

It is no different than if I said, it is great that he is all the way back. He isn't.

It is still wait and see. It is how Dallas got a top 5 pick in the second round.

Please, your so in denial it's hilarious. A 2nd round pick who is suppose to make an immediate impact is not playing this year (possibly). Do you think Tony Romo at age 40 is going to effective? Your time is running down. The time was now. Your entire fanbase included in this thread isn't happy about the 2nd round pick. Again, stop trying to sugarcoat it. It's a shame.

From this fan's two cents worth...I love that man and his heart. He's not stupid in the least, although.

Read what I said. I said there is no way to tell. That isn't in denial.

I also said he was available in the second round because of the risk involved. How is that being in denial, there Bob?

I understand what your saying. Denial or not, your time is dwindling with Tony Romo. He is a great QB when healthy, I won't shy away from that. But your team should of had a different approach. Not quite a "win now this year" approach but in all reality you have 2 seasons left with Tony. Plenty of other 2nd round picks could of helped your team much more than a flyer. And stop acting like I'm the only one playing devils advocate here, your fan base on the last 7 pages isn't happy about the pick either.

I never said you're the only one questioning using a second on him. In fact, that isn't even what my initial post to you was about... which explains why I didn't know you were talking about that.

You didn't think Dallas should have used a second on him. Congrats. I said I didn't like the decision earlier in this very thread. Like I said in my first post to you... you should read the whole thread if you're going to comment.

That term has been used more with Zeke than with Jaylen.
