I've always considered a luxury pick to be for a position you don't need. Another OL or TE would be a luxury pick for example. We need LB with coverage ability.
That term has been used more with Zeke than with Jaylen.

He said last week that they test the news every week and that last week it didn't show anything. People just acknowledged it and moved on.
Fast forward to this week where they again test it and it has not activated and people freak out.
I guess because it was in a tweet and set expectations. Don't let an ESPN tool wag you. It's embarrassing.
hey fuzzy, been busy for a while.
thought jaylon said he could feel different sensations before, though it sounds like no one can speak to him.
you said they are testing every week?
when did you see that?
the only bleep i remember is jaylon saying when they are testing again?
thanks
Still stand by my draft day comment. Not worth the risk....
So you would go against the advice of the team doctor, the guy who is possibly the best knee surgeon in the nation?
I saw another draft for need code word in this thread. They are constantly re-packaging and wrapping that awful idea.
"Luxury" pick. The Cowboys can't afford those.
What is a "luxury" pick you ask? Well that's drafting a player at a position where OMGHECANTSTARTRIGHTNOW!! Totally different than draft for need. Don't be silly.
Avoid those "luxury" picks if you're one of those teams (not necessarily needy!) that can't afford those.

If he can't make an impact for possibly 2 years, then I think it's a luxury pick. We need LB depth now, not a year from now. A healthy 2nd rounder would provide quality depth at least.
By the time jaylon is playing at a meaningful level, romo will be gone, hence our chance at a SB will most likely go with him.
Regardless, I feel like our d-line is much weaker than our LB core
So on June 29th, we're ready to proclaim this kid is not only a "wash-out" for 2016, but is a likely bust...
Amazing.
Jaylon Smith is the "next black Luke Keuchly"
Irvin discussed Dallas' second-round pick with 105.3 The Fan's G-Bag Nation.
"I'm telling y'all right, I'm telling y'all right now, and I need all the people talking about this Jaylon Smith kid -- I'm gonna tell y'all right ... now. I kept his card; I got the card right here next to me. ... I'ma hold on to this card, and when I see this kid in Canton, Ohio, I'ma have him sign it for me. It was one of the greatest thrills of my career to sit and announce that pick, and when he made that pick, when he picked Smith, oh my God! Oh my God! I was off the wall, off the wall. ... I know he has adversity in front of him, but I know the kind of dude he is. He'll come back. ... The baddest man in the league right now, the baddest linebacker in the league right now, Luke Kuechly, I call Luke Kuechly 'the white Ray Lewis.' I said it myself, Jaylon Smith is gonna be the next 'black Luke Kuechly.' That's what we just got, you understand what I'm saying? ... This dude is bad, for real. This dude would've been a top-five pick also, had he not been hurt."

Do you know anything about Prescott? He could be the poster boy for the RKG.
What is a tight end in the 2nd round, 3 separate times, while we have a HOF'er at that position called? I believe it's called a luxury pick. Were they drafted for need? Obviously not. Luxury =/= need. FYI.
I agree that it has been frustrating to see how our and other teams second rounders have worked out in recent history. I'm not sure that you can fault the FO for how they have selected players in the second. I believe they treat the first and second rounds exactly the same, BPA. Obviously the players that are hurt will have better tape and be assigned a higher board position, barring injury, than a healthy less talented available player. Now we can make a perfectly legitimate argument that they do not factor injury enough into the evaluation for players at the top of the board. I cannot pick too many bones with a BPA approach. They do seem to fall away from this philosophy as the draft progresses.100% pulling for Smith.
It's just frustrating how we keep handling our 2nd rounders....which should be borderline locks to be big contributors by year 2.
I know it's cheating to look back but
Just 2 recent examples:
- When we took Escobar, we passed on :LeVeon Bell and Jamie Collins right after him
- When we threw away an extra 2nd to take Claiborne, there was Alshon Jeffrey, Bobby Wagner, and LeVonte David all sitting there in Round 2 (not to mention our 1st rounder we gave up as well)
It just gets old
Here's hoping we at least get 75% of Smith's rookie contract.
Expected. It's only been two months.
