I understand, was just saying because I can't stand Texan fans and some of those fans sound like Texan fans. I don't know the schedule yet but do the Cowboys play the Saints at all this year?

Not unless they meet in the playoffs, which would be fine with me. :D

Until we stop fading down the stretch and have to keep "talking" about winning a playoff game, all the criticisms of other team's fans, are warranted.

I took the article to mean that Payton is using a similar blueprint to the Cowboy's offensive blueprint. So much so that they have been acquiring talent in many of the same key positions. No surprise since Payton took part is the original sketch here.

The loss to the Saints in the playoffs did not make me hate the Saints. It just made me VERY comfortable with Parcells leaving. He made a tremendous difference for us, but he was so rigid in his philosophy that we couldn't beat teams with less talent.

Shockey has talent. Hurray for the Saints. It is still our job to beat them and anyone else on our way to the SuperBowl.

I think the writer makes very good points regarding the Saints offense. But I think you make very good points too -- while they are quite similar at the skill positions, you have to give a very big nod to the Cowboys offensive line versus the Saints, and a big nod to the Cowboys defense, although the Saints are vastly improved on that side of the ball from a year ago.

But yes, these are my two teams in the NFC championship game, Saints at Cowboys. Cowboys win. In the other, less important conference, I have San Diego vs. Jacksonville, with San Diego getting the nod. Unfortunately, there are too many juicy story lines in a Cowboy-Chargers Super Bowl, so it will probably wind up being Jacksonville.

I wouldn't count on Jacksonville too much. They lost Matt Jones and Reggie Williams(?) to season ending knee surgury. They lost some key defensive starters as well. I wouldn't put Jacksonville in the playoffs at all.

Try to keep in mind that a few posters on a particular thread may not truly represent the feelings of a board with over 18,000 members. Throw up a thread asking which team you hate more, the Cowboys or the Falcons, and anyone with an ax to grind with one of those teams will show up to state an opinion.

Not quite the same. Quick quiz: When was the last time the Cowboys beat the Saints? Unless I am wrong, it was 1994. The teams haven't played that often in the last 15 years, but the Saints have won the last five, even a couple when Ditka couldn't get more than six wins in a season.

But all of that isn't relevant to the 2008 teams. Each season and each team stands on its own.

Hos??? Is that you in disguise? If not what are you doing being all rational and stuff. Don't you know you can't do that on a fan board?

OMG!!LOL!!+11%^!$&#!#NTTAWWT!!HAHA!!

Is that better? ;)

Don't know Hos. I mostly lurk during the season if I have time, peek in around free agency or draft time, but rarely post. I only have 30,160 posts to go to catch Doomsday101.

Saints have a good QB who is accurate and not really known for having a cannon. Ditto on us with Romo.

They have a RB (assuming he is healthy) that is a pounder in McAllister. Ditto on us with Barber. They have an excellent complimentary type player that is versatile in Bush. Ditto on us with Jones (hopefully).

They have a good #1 WR. So do we.

They have some intriguing young guys in Meachem, Arrington, etc. Ditto on us with Hurd, Austin, Stanback.

They have a good TE in Shockey. So do we with Witten.

They have a nice OL (pass blocking wise) anchored by their LT, Jamaal Brown. We have a nice OL too (pass blocking wise) also anchored by our LT.

They are led by H.C. Sean Payton, who many consider to be a good offensive mind. We have Jason Garrett, who many many consider to be a good offensive mind.

Yeah. There are a lot of similarities in that regard.

Yes, each team has its owns strengths and difference. But if you look at it pretty generally, its easy to see why the comparison is being made.

And we should be happy. A) That teams are being compared to us. B)That the Saints are being compared to us.... they have a good, young team that is one year removed from being in the NFC Championship game.

I agree. I dont see why people think our line is superior to theirs.

This thread is already linked up to the saintsreport.com board. They all mostly say were bitter because the Saints killed the Cowboys the last time they played. They remind me of Texan Fans thinking they will always beat the boys anytime they play just because they won the last game:rolleyes:

yeah I read the saintsreport thread. Im a saints fan and that sight is bogus as hell. they said you guys were just "flaming the saints" I have not read one post here that I would call flaming. Most are logical educated points that only a Saints homer would consider a flame. Then again I got banned from that sight for mentioning that Peyton was to pass happy and abandoned the run to early. I compared him to Martz and got flamed for being, of all things a Cowboy fan. Then I was promptly banned. If you guys want to talk smack with some intelligent fans go to www.whodatzone.com. Anyway good luck this year guys. Until we meet in the playoffs that is!

Good, because they bore me. Is Reggie Williams now out for the season for sure?

Matt Jones wasn't worth spit anyways, but maybe you're right -- they might be too weak at WR to do much. The way they manhandled the Steelers in last year's playoffs still burns in my mind though, they are a physical bunch.

The Saints secondary blows, they have no running backs. They have one receiver.

Right, really looking like the Cowboys.

The same secondary, running backs and receivers that bested the Cowboys 42-17? If you are going to post something on the internet, think about it first, then think again, then if it still seems appropriate, type it. Then read it again before sending and think to yourself,"Will I look like a complete uninformed moron for typing this?"

You might want to change your calendar. This isn't 2006.

:welcome:

That was good advice you ignored.

I agree. Think before you post.

Like, for example, 2006 isn't the same thing as 2008.

And... for example, we swept the Giants during the regular season with Jacques Reeves getting valuable playing time. He must be good then, right, to play as much as he did and sweep the Giants in the regular season?

Right?

ROFLcopter.

Your logic is fail.

I suggest more win in your next post.

This fool better be glad we don't play them next season because Troy Aikman would've beat 'em to death with the deep ball to Drew Pearson for the insult. Don't even get me started as to what the Randy White / Bob Lilly combo would do to them! :p:

The trolls on the board always keep me laughing throughout the day.

Did I post something about the year it is? Is there some sort of code I am supposed to use on this forum to view that in the post? I merely stated that the three positions mentioned were the same ones that drubbed you the last time the two teams played. Does that makes sense or shall I dumb it down for you?

What I think he is trying to say is that the 2006 Dallas Cowboys are nothing like the 2008 Dallas Cowboys... regardless of how many players were on todays and '06 roster still. Our team is way better than it was in '06

Don't get too carried away with past glories... they have nothing to do with today.

Go soil yourself to your 3 divison titles and 100 games below .500 record.

Oh, and the fact that you missed the playoffs last year, AGAIN.

So says the Dallas fans who regurgitate their Superbowl wins and gloried past in just about every other post on this forum. Please state that "past glories" thing to your buddies so everyone else can come here to discuss football and not read it over and over again.

"Go soil yourself to your 3 divison titles and 100 games below .500 record."

edit: see. One post later and another mention of the past 40 years worth of memories. Let it go. Let it go.

I never implied that either of the teams are the same as they were in 2006, merely that the personel listed put up 42 points on an 8-4 Cowboys team that was high and mighty going into that contest. I think the Saints believe their squad to be better today as well.

No, I said something about it not being the same year. I said it. That was me.

Do I need to dumb that down for you?

Apparently you are unaware of the fact that teams are not the same 2 years down the road.

No, that does not make sense. Thank you for asking. There shouldn't have even been a need if you had taken your own advice.
