So we are willing to have the sun take away plays from our playbook at certain times of a game because we love the look of sunlight pouring in on the eyes of our players?
EXACTLY - he’s a ******* IDIOT.

I saw the same thing, but in fairness that is a play Dak had to make an immediate, or even pre snap decision on to throw to the corner of the end zone because if he waited to survey the field Gallup would run out of the end zone before the ball arrived.

Good point. As somebody else mentioned, the Cowboys have to be aware of the stadium they play in and how to avoid pitfalls like throwing to receivers looking back into the glaring sun. I guess what bothered me aside from the sun issue on that play was watching their defense completely ignore our RB in the flat and us have to settle for 3. Hindsight is 20/20 but awareness of our stadium tendencies have to be considered

unpopular opinion I know: But Jerry isn't wrong here.
The stadium undoubtedly creates a major sun field challenge but who should have an advantage in that scenario??
The home team every time.

I would obviously be more than fine if they simply killed that glare but practicing playing with it 8 games a year should give you a very large advantage versus someone who does so 1 time a year at most.

Jerry just can't say he's wrong on this one. He will go to his grave believing he was right and everyone else is a fool.

Sounds to me like fans are probably more upset about having to sit in the sun on that side of the stadium then players are about playing in it. Every stadium has its advantages whether it be wind, cold weather high altitude.....ect. Coaches need to know this. Especially our coach. If it was reversed and the sun got ino an eagles players eyes that caused him to drop a TD everyone would be calling Jerry a Genuis.

what bothered me more was that Zeke or Pollard was completely open on the right side of the field where the sun was shaded. It was an easy 6 points but obviously Dak didn’t see it. Watch that play again and you’ll see that the RB in the flat had nobody within ten yards of him.
Thats the coaches fault for not switching the play to the other side. He should know field conditions.

The sun works both ways. I don't see how it puts us at a competitive disadvantage. You would think the home team would be smart enough to adapt.
To me it's not about being a competitive disadvantage and I would be surprised if anyone said it was. It's just about it being stupid. I mean why have that if you have a way to stop it? We can also choose to open the roof while it's raining because it would be the same for both sides, but why would we?

IIRC, it's only a problem for the 4pm EST games, right?

1pm games(at least early on) and night games the sun doesn't bother the players due to angle/it being dark out

Jerry had his billion dollar plus stadium built in the wrong direction and his scoreboard was built too low.

It’s was a horrible idea. Put up some curtains and sell the space on curtains when its daylight…. Problem solved!

I mean, this madness with the stadium's orientation, the sunlight, and curtains/no curtains, is what it is. It's either shoddy planning or a disregard for anything is not related to the overall aesthetics. I put neither possibility past this group.

That being said, let's say for argument's sake we are in the camp of just moving forward and managing the dynamic. Ok, fine. How is it that this bunch determines the best course of action on third down, coming out of a timeout, is to throw into the one area of the endzone on a trajectory that is sure to bring this issue into play?

There are those who take into account every conceivable detail and then there is this.

Funny to me that people are blaming Moore for calling that play there. lol

As if Moore has a play

"Corner end zone throw, but only if the Sun is 23.8 deg to the south of due west in the winter, for a total angular shift of 47.6 deg over the stadium"

How about just closing the curtains Jerry??

Watching our players (like Michael Gallup last Sat or Cedric Wilson last Jan in the playoffs) get blinded by the sun trying to catch a football when there are curtains available is just insane. I’ve watched several college and HS games at AT&T where those curtains ARE used so the sun is not a factor in games.

I’m hard pressed to think of another sports owner or executive with this kind of stubborn stupidity, who literally cares more about visual aesthetics than winning. It’s maddening.

AND…the multi-million dollar upgrades JJ is paying for aren’t designed to fix this.

It's really funny. I suspect that they will use the curtains when Jerry passes away.

Not sure why he doesn't close the curtains. What benefit is there for keeping them open?
Because he would have to go back on what he has said over and over again and admit he was wrong and that isn't how he operates. Doesn't have the character to admit it. Kind of like half this board after Zeke or Dak has a really good or a really bad game...

But you never know if a cloud will block the sun for the visitors, or who's going to be facing that direction when it's at its worst, etc. It's a stupid thing to have to deal with.

Sure, but that's about the same as having a gust of wind or whatever other elements.

On a whole it's football, and the weather is a factor. While you can't predict when a break in the clouds is coming I'd argue the vast majority of the time it's obvious when adjustments should be made.

To be clear, our coaches have never taken it into consideration, so I am all for using the curtains. I'm just disappointed we haven't found a way to use our home field to our advantage.

After being told multiple times by the stadium’s architects when it was being built that it was a fundamentally bad idea to have the field run East-West. He loves the look.

The stayjum was finished 13 years ago. Apparently he’s been senile over a decade.

Well they ARE in plans for renovations, maybe palm trees or something are being built
