Sure, but that's about the same as having a gust of wind or whatever other elements.

On a whole it's football, and the weather is a factor. While you can't predict when a break in the clouds is coming I'd argue the vast majority of the time it's obvious when adjustments should be made.

To be clear, our coaches have never taken it into consideration, so I am all for using the curtains. I'm just disappointed we haven't found a way to use our home field to our advantage.
In an outdoor stadium, you can see the clouds coming across the sky, but that's not really a big thing. What is a big thing, I think, is that the glare through the glass is probably a lot worse than just having the sun shine through open air, especially since your eyes would adjust more to the brightness outdoors, than they do inside the stadium, which magnifies the effect, like stepping outside on a sunny day, from a mall or something.

Jerry could get an even more beautiful effect with sheerer curtains that let some light through, but no glare.

The sun works both ways. I don't see how it puts us at a competitive disadvantage. You would think the home team would be smart enough to adapt.

That is the biggest issue given his intransigence on it. How many years should a coach need to be here before they use it to an advantage or at worst not create a disadvantage for yourself by running your WR directly into being blinded.

Watching our players (like Michael Gallup last Sat or Cedric Wilson last Jan in the playoffs) get blinded by the sun trying to catch a football when there are curtains available is just insane. I’ve watched several college and HS games at AT&T where those curtains ARE used so the sun is not a factor in games.

I’m hard pressed to think of another sports owner or executive with this kind of stubborn stupidity, who literally cares more about visual aesthetics than winning. It’s maddening.

AND…the multi-million dollar upgrades JJ is paying for aren’t designed to fix this.

Open curtains are code for "I fired Landry".

The open curtains should be an advantage like the Packers playing outdoors.

Both teams have to deal with it.

Texas stadium had the issue where the sun shifted from one sideline to the other based on time of day.

Texas stadium had a 1.5 foot crown in the middle of the field relative to the sidelines.

Some cold weather teams still have outdoor stadiums. Packers think it is an advantage.

I remember how noticeable it was when I toured the place and they took us out on the field. Seemed like it would take some getting used to during warm ups, especially throwing out routes from the pocket.

Brett Favre always struggled with it. I remember he would always overthrow his receivers until he got used to it each game. Some QBs told John Madden that you have to throw at your receiver’s knees to hit them in the numbers.

In this case it is not on Jerry.

Hey coaches. Let's throw the ball to the only spot on the field that has the sun blinding the players eyes -

That's just a great play call right there!
Having to game plan against the sun is idiotic

The theory was that Farve struggled to adjust to it back in the day in a big game when Aikman made Farve look silly in comparison.

Evidently Kellen Moore didn’t know where the sun was or he wouldn’t call a fade to that exact corner!

It does work both ways
And our OC has been in the stadium long enough to know at the time of the day don’t call a fade in that corner of the endzone
My first reaction was why call that on that side of the field? The other side had shade

That was my thought exactly
The stadium is the same for both teams. Our OC should have thought about throwing to the back of the other side lol
I’d expect our guys to know the sun was shining in our players eyes better than a visiting team

Even Eagles fans get it.
From: Trolling the Nation for Cowboys vs. Eagles
(1:49) B.Maher 21 yard field goal is GOOD
DAL 17 - PHI 17
Eagles: Damn we stopped them without a penalty
Bleedgreen93 | 17:33 EDT
Eagles: The sun blinded him. The divine took pity on us.
MustbeaVulcan | 17:34 EDT
Eagles: Eagles got a huge break there. Gallup should have had that catch for a TD. May have lost it in sun

We suck at situational football, and I blame that squarely on our coaches.

cowboys should know where the spots are and not throw to those spots.

Dak threw it to the read he thought had the best chance.

Maybe don't call a play that puts the wr and qb in that position?
Lol, you want him running into another route?

Don't understand this either.
My guess is that once Jerry is gone they will fix this.
Also put Jimmy in the ROH.
Just hope he lives to see it.

:hammer:

I don’t mean to dog our coaches because I give them credit for a lot of great things.

But damn man, you’re making millions of dollars a year putting in 20 hour days, have a giant staff, all the latest gadgets, no one has enough attention to detail to think about this?
