I'm not sure he was actually threatening to fire them, but Jerry speak can be hard to understand. I think he was saying he'd take his interviews to some other hosts if these hosts are going to grill him over what he's doing wrong.

However, it's Jerry, so I could be wrong and he actually thinks he has that power.
Well, I understand Jerry-ese. He meant what he said. He may state something different in the future when asked what he meant. His answer will be his narcissism talking again. And it would be a contradicting lie if he states he did not mean what he meant.

While Jerry and Stephen are running the show, I've just found another 31 teams to root for!

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to @DMRussini on getting angry this morning during a weekly radio interview:

“I don’t know that I would go as far as (calling) the volume connotation as yelling. OK? But the facts are that if I’m going to be grilled by the tribunal, I don’t need it to be by the guys I’m paying. I can take it from fans and take it from other people. I take a lot of pride in how fair and how much I try to work with the media, we’re brothers and sisters. But I was a little frustrated there today. … The wrong ones were doing the questioning. Now, if those had been real fans sitting there or if there had been people that knew what they were talking about, football people, I might have had a different answer.”

he doesnt pay them so now he is just straight up lying...they were laughing about this on the show this morning..they get no money from Jerry.

Some people don't understand the relationship of The Fan and the Dallas Cowboys. Jerry Jones doesn't own the station. He doesn't sign their checks. 105.3 The Fan is owned by Audacy. Jerry doesn't pay The Fan, the opposite. The Fan pays for the rights to air their games. And receive a good portion of the ad revenue. If the Dallas Cowboys went elsewhere to air their games, The Fan would still exist and Shan/RJ would still have jobs. Over the last decade, The Fan has really gained good momentum in the DFW sports talk market. Shan/RJ are easily their biggest show and have a great following. Absolutely no way The Fan fires them over talking down on Dallas/Jerry. Shan/RJ don't answer to Jerry. He doesn't sign their checks. He can't fire them. We'll see what happens over the next days once this blows over nationally. Right now, Audacy/The Fan loves the exposure from the whole country.

The fans have the ultimate vote and that vote is with their wallet. Case in point is when little Danny Snyder owned the Commanders you could see the handwriting on the wall. All the Commanders stores were suddenly empty. No one was buying merchandise and the team stores were a ghost land. The team started to suck and the fans went away. The waiting list to get season tickets vanished. The on field product was so stinking bad the fans left in mass. He'll visiting teams took over the wreck of a stadium the Commanders played in.

Well a couple names changes later, followed by more stnk on the field, along with sexual allegations by team management and Danny boy was gone.

New owners with brains showed up. Better management and then better players arrived. Fans became optimistic again as the saw smart ownership arrive. The arrow is pointed up for the Commanders now. I suspect by next year they will be the class of the Division.

And back to the Cowboys. No arrow is pointed up. We are firmly in the rinse and repeat mode, saddled by massive salaries, poor coaching and entitled players.

The only thing to do is stay away and hold onto your wallets. Maybe for fans to wear bags over their heads will be the next step, if the wheels totally fall off.
Great post.

LOL, this just makes him look worse.

So Jerry is now saying that if he pays a reporter’s salary, they should be nothing more than a glorified pet of his?

What a turd.

Jerry wanted to be the guy; the guy with the final say….so who else should be held responsible? Jerry wanted the limelight…well now he is getting it and deservedly so!

Keep us up and relevant during our bye week, when the league will hopefully be focusing on teams that are actually playing football games???? Or was Jerry actually serious

I was actually just about to ask someone to explain the relationship, because it did seem that the station pays the team, not the other way around.

Makes his words even more ridiculous.

We don't necessarily have to root for another team, maybe just follow one or two. Back in the 1980's during my military days I lived just north of San Diego. I followed the San Diego Chargers since they were the local team, but I never considered myself a 'fan' like I did for the Cowboys. I got to see them play Dallas in a pre season game at Jack Murphy (San Diego won 20-0). When I moved back to Fort Worth in 1989 I still kept up with the Chargers, but didn't follow them as close as I did when I lived out there.

I wouldn't get mad at anyone who wants to root for another team, and it would be easier for a younger fan who has never seen Dallas have any post season success. For me, though, I have followed the team since 1975 and it would be quite a bit more difficult, but I'm certainly apathetic towards the franchise right now and don't really give a damn when they win or lose. Jerry doesn't care, so why should the fans?

Yep. Dallas Cowboys do have their own reporters and writers. Those he can I'm sure fire if he wants. With The Fan being the flagship station of Dallas, there are certain aspects they must adhere to which I'm sure is talking about the Cowboys. They have pre and post game shows. Have Jerry/Stephen on shows at their choosing. All of this I'm sure is laid out in their agreement. When 1310 The Ticket and ESPN Radio used to be the flagship station, the same thing. They talked much more Cowboys than when they didn't carry them. Bun in no way did Jerry control their hosts and they didn't answer to him.

I'm still surprised Jerry acted the fool like he did yesterday. He usually takes bad losses a lot better then that.

He alwayshandlesit better then i would if i were him. (of course I'd actually hire a real GM, qualified football people and only talk with the media after big PLAYOFF wins, maybe. )

Yep for as terrible Jerry is as a GM, he is usually great at handling the media. He's starting to crack. He knows he can't sell this snake oil any longer. He got taken to the cleaners by Dak and his camp and getting very little ROI on that deal and we aren't even into the high paying years yet. He knows there is very little hope with this current team going forward. We are staring into the first part of 2000s.
