In his video on DC .com he said he was happy with where we were at Safety TE, CB and WR. Citing injury issues mentioned by Jerry I think C.J. Mosley is a HUGE possibility in round 1 because he said the draft was deep on both interiors and not as much at LB.
We have the worst S in the NFL. yet this fool says he is good with the S. just pitiful. every time he opens his mouth i lose hope.

Church cant cover and Heath might be the worst player in league. So no, thry are no set at safety. They arent set anywhete on defense.

We closer to the bottom than we are to the top when it comes to safety play.

We already have close to $100 million tied up in corners. Last I checked, that hasn't helped our pass defense.

Just because we have MONEY tied up in corners doesn't mean they're playing at a high level.

So we shouldn't acquire more pass rushers because we're paying DeMarcus Ware as a top 10 defensive player in the NFL?

The draft is based on potential and getting people in the door. Once they're drafted, it's up to them, what kinda player they want to be. Dallas is getting better at drafting football players. Church is fine at SS. We don't need to have blue chip #1 rated players at every position to make the defense work. Church is real solid. Wilcox is very green, but he is a football player. If the play he made against Desean Jackson is any indication of what he could do once he puts it all together, we could be good FS. Wilcox was playing his 2nd year at FS as a rookie in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys, his mom passes at the end of training camp, AND he injured his knee. This kid's quick, strong, fearless and he's a fighter. There's a ton of potential there. Look at Dez's year-to-year growth once the smoke cleared and he could concentrate on playing football. Heath, I see STer and decent depth. Neither shouldve been starting last season. That said, I would still be looking at Pryor with the first pick. Whoever wins the starting FS job out of Pryor and Wilcox, I feel good about going into the season. And both could back up Church at SS as well. All hitters at the back of the defense.

I agree. There is no Earl Thomas in this draft. And there is still hope for Matt Johnson. I like getting a safety at some point, but 1st round is a lot to spend on a guy with question marks.

What hope is that exactly? Do you think he would even be picked up by another team if he gets cut?

But you do draft 2nd round TEs for depth!

Drafting a tight end in the 2nd round was no more drafting for depth as would be drafting a second defensive tackle in a 4-3.

But you can in the second round. We have made a living doing that lately.

Second round players are also expected to play significantly if not start.

Carter is on his final year, Holloman is the starter on the other side. If they draft a LB in the 1st, he will be a starter.

As I said you don't draft 1st round players to sit.

We don't need blue chippers at every position, but it would be nice to have ONE. Our defense was the worst in the NFL. We have maybeeeee three guys who could compete for PT on teams like Seattle and SF. Lee could, but he's 100% unreliable. Hatcher could, but he's gone. Carr could on about 75% of teams, but not the good ones. Ware is done. Nobody else is any good. JJ said he was good with our DL last year as well. Said the same thing about our LB's. Said the same thing about the OL the year before. He's an alcoholic, and he's killing us. Scratch that, we're dead already. He's burying us deeper. Our draft should look like this.
1) Safety Or DL
2) Safety or DL
3) DL
4) DL
5) LB or Guard
6) LB or Guard
7) DL, OL,

The only way it should be different is if a top QB slipped in the 1st or 2nd. And the only reason I say that is because I have a feeling Tony is done. Kyle is a good backup, but we might have to prepare faster than most want to believe for Tonys departure . Two back surgeries are going to be the start to the end of his decent career...

Barry Church is awful. He doesnt get near the ball. He was ranked something like the 49th safety in the league by PFF.

He is Keith Davis without the bullet magnet.

PFF Eh?

Only three of our starting front 7 had a "positive" grade by PFF. An average player in PFF's grading system is -0.5 to 2. Anything above or below is really good or really bad. Barry Church had a -0.5. But to understand that grade, you really have to think logically. Church's run defense was +0.4 His pass rush was +0.2. His pass coverage was -0.8. His -0.5 overall makes him look like crap... right? Wrong.

The biggest punisher to his grade was the -0.8 pass coverage. A quick glance at his d-line's pass rush grades: Hatcher +26.9, Ware +2.7, Hayden -12.5, Selvie -7.4, Rayford -4.1, Jones -3.8, Nevis -2.8, Vega -2.1, Long -1.9, (D)Carter -1.5... it's easy to see. Couple that with how bad of a season Carter(-9.8) had, Durant(-1.5), Sims(-22.5), Holloman(-13.0), ... it's easy to see that his front 4 got him little to no pressure and his linebacking core was a mess. He never had a chance. This is why I hope we go with the front 4 at least 3-4 picks in this next draft. It's clear that we really only need to keep 1 or 2 of our defensive lineman and completely rebuild. And those 1-2 that we keep should be gone within two to three years. I bet Church looks great once we get a decent front 7 in front of him.

I'll bet he doesnt. He is at the wrong place at the wrong time. A slow un-athatletic hitter like Church would have been vital about 15 years ago.

looked good in preseason action, if we can finally catch a break injury wise he'll be a player; and yes, another team would love to have him in camp.

Well when being efficient in passing offense and defending the pass is the most highly correlated stats with winning, that -.8 is not equally offset. His angles are bad, and he is slow to get to the ball. That said...I agree the DL is a wreck as well.

I think xwalker posted a stat last week that Church has 6 PD and 1 Int in his career.

He had one tackle and injured himself on the play last preseason. What specifically looked so good?

Those nineteen plays were glorious and spectacular though.

Check him out!

He is the one falling behind Sterling Moore.

“We didn’t see anything on the X-ray that would bother us,” Jones said after the game. “I thought he was playing well when he went out.”

I am 100% off. He has 2 preseason tackles in his career. Brandon Underwood had 8 and Sterling Moore 5 last preseason. I had to go 8 pages deep in the DB preseason stats to fact check
