Am i the only one aganist Romo coming in ?Im being honest after Weeden put 10 for us I cringe and shook my head when I knew Romo was coming back in. Im not taking anything from Romo and I do believe with out him this team would not have 6 wins. But i just felt like this was not Romo's game to win. He wasnt seeing the blitzes, no audibles, shaken up, injured. With 1:57 left in this game I would went with 10 carries by Murray and 3-5 throws from Weeden to set up a field goal.

What suggests that Jones "FORCED" him back into the game? Because he came on to sidelines?
According to previous comments on this thread, it was the implication behind Jones' words when he informed Garrett of Romo's condition.
You think Garrett would rather have Weeden out there than Romo if he's okay to come back?
Any coach will want his best players on the field if the risk of (further) injury is not too great.

There is a difference between what normal risks there are for a player and putting one back in a game where one, he just took a heck of a shot to an already injured back. And two, putting him back in when he was already getting killed. No one at practice is touching him, I would bet the farm on that.

Not even about touching him. The guy can hurt himself throwing the football. My point isn't of the greater risks. Chances of Romo getting hurt are slim. Well....Sean Lee did get hurt for the season during practice but that's beyond the point lol. I'm saying that you can't be scared of his chances of getting hurt because it can happen ANYWHERE. It can happen next game. Or the game after that. He's at risk of getting hurt everytime he steps on that field.

He and this team has to learn how to read and blitz and what to counter it with. The disappointing thing about that is they still didn't figure it out once he got back in so its like it twas a waste for him to be out there. The best play they ran was the missed block by Murray that ended up being a solid play. Those are things you have to do against that blitz. Either with Witten or Murray or any back. Fake the block and go out for the pass.

I would have went with: The risk of further injury was that great. He would have been on the bench.
I'm not sure what game JG was watching.

If the doctors gave the go ahead, there is no reason to not put Tony back in. Dez hurt his back on the SF game but came back. That is a normal thing to do. You don't put in Street, you stick with Dez, or in this case Romo.

Even when the back-up has performed well and in this instance out-performed the starter in this game? Two drives, 10 points. Should have been 14. The Cowboys sure have some blind fans.

I think those are assumptions by fans. There's nothing that we on the outside looking in know what happen.

I agree with you. What I don't agree with is that THIS game was all that meaningful at that point to risk my starting QB with half a season to go.
At the very worse Weedon would have lost the game to.

I think we're splitting hairs here. :) A friend of mine, who is a Cowboys fan, asked whether I would have put Romo back in the game. I did not hesitate in my reply. I said if the doctors said he could go, I would put him back in.

You can safely remove "I think" unless facts state otherwise. Did you catch my first post on this thread? :)

Not so sure about this. Read Strums blog. He has some interesting historical data on this.

That is a good point. I personally would've left Weeden in there. Now you leave yourself wondering what COULD'VE been with Weeden. You don't know how good or bad Weeden is but he surely looked good enough. For the record I don't agree with bringing Romo back in. I had confidence he could come in and win that game which has proven to be wrong but I wouldn't have brought him back.

Its still assumptions though even with historical data. I'm not even saying its not true. I hope its not true sure but I'm not even saying its not true. But at this point in time unless Garrett and Jerry admit it its simply assumptions.

I agree, you have to base things on unknown outcomes but you have some statistical basis on it. That's the point I was trying to make. Still, if you haven't read it, it's worth the read IMO.

Let's say...they had rode w/ Weeden. And he won.

Then your opening yourself up to a QB controversy. It's a no win situation really. I think @ least that thought crossed some peoples minds last night. Wouldn't want to open that can of worms.

No , there would not be a qb controversy, with Romo and Weeden, You think Romo and that contract sits on the bench, backing up Weeden? Cmon man.

So you want Weeden to guide you for a game winning drive from your 3 over Romo? Who would you rather lose with?

Absolutely. He guided them to a tie didn't he? Romo was CLEARLY not 100%. If he was, go with the starter but Weedon was better than Romo at 50% on this night.

A healthy Weeden than a doped up broken multi million dollar starter with half a season left.
