It’s not necessary to pay Dak this season. He’s under contract until 2020. This is paying him a year early assuming we do.

I get what your saying but he would be completely free to test the market after this season. I know most of us think we are about to over pay Dak, but his price would only go up more if there are other interested teams in the mix

The Fan reported that Jerry was completed caught off guard by the Zeke holdout and is severely ticked off.

They pointed to the amount of support the team had given settle in numerous off-field issues, including perhaps some we don't know about.

This could get pretty ugly.

Jerry is negotiating with Zeke on a new contract, while he has the rights to Zeke for the next 2 years. And Zeke holds out.

Jerry showing good faith. Zeke pissing in his cornflakes in return. That is the kind of thing that makes a guy walk away from the table.

I can see Jerry getting ticked off about this.

Why did they make him an offer then?

Have we heard the numbers on the offer yet?

Making an offer doesn't mean you make a *good* offer.

I think Stephen's comparison to the Gurley contract was just a mistake. That was a bad contract. That should be a ceiling, not a floor.

What I think is happening right now is that the Joneses are going through a period of reflection.

They are not panicking. But they are conflicted.

And when that happens, we usually have not so good results.

We are about at the stage where if push gets to shove, we see another wacky idea.

Oh, we don't need the RB, we have the WR talent now.

I hate to say it, this OL is not built for a passing-centric offense.
Nope it was clearly built to run the ball and wear teams down. Ala 90s

This is all a game of chicken before the August 6th reporting deadline. If Zeke doesn’t report by then- he loses a year towards free agency. No matter what his agent is telling him - he can’t undue the collective bargaining agreement. The question becomes, is his agent willing to burn the bridge in Dallas and think he can force a trade if Zeke sits out the year?
If that is the case, they may find out just how much hard ball Jerry can play
That's not correct.

Hard to take reports like this as legitimate, but when Jerry starts talking in the media, it's usually pretty easy to see if it's his tail wagging or if he's baring his teeth.

I still don't get what Elliott thinks he's doing here. He's got not leverage, will have to report, and it just makes him look like a malcontent on top of being a player with little judgement at a position where careers are short. Makes no sense.

I think the reality is somewhere between. He has some leverage because the Cowboys didn't have a good Plan B and were focused on other contracts. But he also has baggage and is just giving the Cowboys another reason to consider moving on from him.

I'm hoping a reasonable accord is reached but if emotions are involved it could turn into a stalemate where both parties lose something.
Great points and I agree.

Zeke is a chump, always has been, always will be. Much to my dismay, I’m sure he’ll be around for years to come, I just hope he doesn’t get suspended, hurt or kill our salary cap on an expendable position.
We’ve hung banners with chumps, Thugs and criminals before .

Landry and Jimmy both tolerated this type of behavior because you need their talent to win.

It’s why elite college coaches are recruiting in the Hood for freakish talent to help them win. The NFL gets the cream of the crop.

Bring me your dog killers , drug addicts and domestic violence . We will tolerate almost anything if you’ve got talent. And make you rich and famous. Welcome to the NFL.

If Zeke had no leverage then why make an offer at all?
If our quarterback was Elite I can understand not needing a Bell cow running back but he's not so we do need Zeke.

I've not seen any numbers anywhere as of yet,but it's been hinted as to being comparable to whatever the Hell that Doofus #21is snivelling on about.
