Jerry is PO'ed

Actually this OL was built to protect Romo. We stumbled onto the dominating running game inadvertently while trying to take pressure off of Romo. And it presented Romo’s most Effective season in 2014 .

Then in 2015 we became so arrogant with the OL we let Murray walk and platooned a RB by Committee which failed miserably placing the pressure back on Romo. The OL couldn’t protect him and he never started another game again and it abruptly ended that season.

So letting Murray walk is why Romo got hurt in 2015? What were the reasons for the other times he got injured?

That the Cowboys finished in the top 10 in rushing WITH garbage QBs starting 13 games does not support your position. It undermines it, no matter how many times you repeat it.

I’m not sure they knew until after their meeting with the Commish and their decision not to suspend him.

I kinda doubt he holds out if he’s suspended:)

I’d add we do need one of the best RB in the league to be good enough to contend for a championship. It’s tough enough not having an elite prolific passer.

I wouldn't argue that we need the one of best backs in the league to contend because I don't know.

But I think more importantly we need a good offensive coordinator, Dak isn't going anywhere and at the end of the day this team will go where he takes them, a guy who can call plays around his strengths to open up the run for Zeke (or whoever is there) is a necessity. Do we have that on the team? That's up in the air right now. I'm not holding my breath for Kellen to be that guy but I am cautiously optimistic, regardless he can't be worse than Linehan.

..dont we love Dallas Drama...Bwahahaha....!! Well then, I'd be pissed too. Someone is throwing tantrums.

Linehan was fine Daks Rookie season . Defenses figured out our QB weaknesses and we had to scale back the offense and play calling to protect Dak from making mistakes.

It sounds like Moore’s offense is going to encourage Dak to “ let er rip “ according to Kitna so it’s possible the passing offense will open up a little. Unfortunately it might also expose Daks weaknesses more creating additional turnovers. We shall see. I’m not as optimistic especially if Elliott is out.

I said it left Romo more vulnerable without Murray and a dominating running game.

Linehan was forced to go to a very basic O due to having a raw rook to work w/. There was nothing "fine" about it. He ran the ball prolifically because he had no choice. As soon as he could, he put his craptastic O back in.

Amazing how teams have lined up out the door for a chance to sign Linehan to their staff.

That’s true. But most had an Elite QB or defense which we don’t have.

The point is our dominating Running game has been our strength without an Elite QB. If you take that away or even lessen it without an Elite RB presence, who’s going to carry the team? Our QB or defense??

I’m fearful it reduces our ability to contend as strongly.
And if you pay a RB as much money as zeke wants then there's no chance of having an elite defense.

Dak is a great young player. His only problem is stupid Cowboys fans. Much like yourself who don't really know football.

He's had 3 winning seasons since starting in 3 tries. Winning is all that matters right? Well he wins.

The defense has a good chance to become elite. Especially if they can start creating turnovers.

But they won't stick around long if you pay a player at a position that's difference making is minimal at best, a ton of money and leaving next to none for any other players

He has all the leverage the offense runs through him.
He's got leverage right up until the point that he realizes 1) the FO doesn't have to do anything 2) no play = no pay 3) he can't accrue toward free agency & 4) ownership & fans P.O.'d doesn't bode well for his future.

In other words if he gets stubborn he is taking a short walk off an even shorter plank.

Difference making is minimal? You should never claim someone else knows little about football.

Jerry should be PO'd at his son for telling the world Zeke had Gurley+ money headed his way, apparently assuming Elliott would just wait for it.

Stephen the hostage negotiator:

"The kidnappers say they want a million dollars. We think we'll give them two million just to be safe."

That’s a legitimate concern but you’re more concerned about it than I am. I think would be fine going RB by committee this year and drafting a RB next year and save the money to keep our D together (which I think is very close to being elite) and maybe even pick up a defensive FA or two.

Two questions. If he's pissed, why did his son go on the radio and bring up a new contract and why did they start negotiating a new contract with an offer?

I think his anger and some here have it misplaced. Do you think any agent is going to let the COO saying in public that they are considering a new deal and it starts where the highest paid RB's ends slide by?

If there are more instances of Booger running interference for extracurricular activities for Elliott than we know about, then he's dumber than I thought. His family needs to sit him down and read him the story of the frog and the scorpion.

Booger should really ask himself if this holdout isn't a good sign and one that he needs.

Next year will be a good draft for RB's, deepest one in years.

Zeke's winning percentage is better than Dak's.

Yep

Jerry often reacts to the pulse of the fan base. Which in this case is very ANGRY at Elliott for holding out.

Fans then rally around him while he’s secretly looking to sign Elliott. Once he’s back on the field and our FO justifies his contract assuring us it’s manageable within the Cap they will move forward.

No one plays the media and the fans as well as Jerry.

That’s fine as long as your prepared for the consequences of this season and potential fallouts as a result.

How many times has Elliott hit 1800 yards in the NFL?

So Murray is "elite" while Elliott isn't then?

And many believed there was no chance of a holdout at all too.

Murray had that year because of this offensive line. The same reason that McFadden did after him. And Zeke after them. You can try to ignore the facts and the pattern if you'd like, but everyone else can see it.
One good season doesn't make you elite. Ask Dak.

Can’t back it up? The 2016 O line was arguably the best in the NFL. The past two years it’s been top 5-10. That’s not opinion.

Lol, ask Irvin how many league leading rushers have won a Super Bowl in the past 20 years. This offense was built to run behind an incompetent OC which we no longer have.
He knows the answer is three cause he played with him.
