Jerry Jones: Cowboys won’t initiate trade talks to improve roster before deadline

1:06 - 1:14 Someone please play this for Booger, Chuckles, Mickey, Fish, and Brad the Sham....just makes me sick....and jealous as hell....seeing how beloved and trusting Eagles fans are of Roseman.

I

jerry is terrible at working out trades. He doesn’t follow the nfl closely enough know what players can be had for cheap and who can come in and help right now. He is not a GM and that bites this team in the butt every year when our NFC rivals are strengthening their teams.

Then perhaps he should let McClay try to make trades work. He can still take the credit. But it's annoying seeing our rivals make moves to fix their weaknesses during the season, and Jerry stares thinking.....well, who knows....he is also probably just counting his billions while we are frustrated seeing what could have been if we could at least take a chance once in a while.

No but it means you will likely pay more. And who is this player?
It means no such thing. It's be reported up here in Philly that Roseman peppered the Titans with calls trying to work a deal for Byard. But using your logic, Roseman should have overpaid for him since he was the aggressor in acquiring Byard.

The rationalizing that goes on defending Jerry here is pretty awesome.

This is the right approach from Jerry. We do not want to give up our R1-3 draft picks. We would be paying top dollar if we go asking. We are not one player away.
We are 2 or 3 though

He’s not a good GM. Idk why anyone is surprised by this.
Mike Fisher disagrees. He told us this morning that we should go be Carolina fans or Cardinals fans if we don't like the winning in Dallas last 27 years. Talk about a smug human that wants us to sit here and tow the line...wow.

Considering we haven't had playoff success to show his genius GM work, makes perfect sense he'd sit still and do nothing to get better. Eagles are trading for all pro safeties and we think we are good where we are.

And it's why the season will have the same predictable end.

The fact some here were expecting the inept old clown to do something at the deadline is hilarious, almost 30 years of the same crap and and you still think he cares about winning? :lmao:

Oh, I'm sure he doesn't. And he will prove it again if he doesn't do anything at the deadline. I just have concern that the likes of Parsons and Lamb, who have higher aspirations, will opt not to stay here. What does Jerry do then? Assuming he's still alive when that happens. He can't take his wealth with him when he dies.

You don't know perhaps he had to keep calling back upping his offer. In the majority of cases a buyer will have to pay a premium when there is a reluctant seller. Plain Economics

Which is why I made the thread that I wrote. I'm particularly annoyed that we have a roster that can compete IF Jerry would have the guts to take a chance on player(s) that would excite the team and can move the needle. He's going to blow a golden opportunity to earn even more opportunity by winning a championship if he doesn't act soon. Parsons and Lamb will not be here forever. I wouldn't blame them if they want to go elsewhere when their contracts are finished.

Way to go Jerry another year closer to you moving into your new condo your coffin and no friggen Super Bowl!!

Basically saying he wants other teams who are shopping players to come to the cowboys with opportunities-not the other way around, which basically every team in the league wants to happen and does regularly happen with teams who are having fire sales.

I don’t take anything jerry says too seriously at all, big problem I see here is people do. He could say they’ll be very active and then no trades happen and vice versa. Whatever Jerry says positive, negative, or indifferent it really doesn’t matter because he says one thing publicly and does the other behind the scenes often.

When people realize this they’ll be better off imo
I'm not a fan of this approach because sometimes you don't know what a team might be willing to accept if you don't ask. But I'm sure the approach here is if teams come to us looking to unload a player, we can get him for cheaper than if we ask about trading for a player.

It is sad, though, that Jones talks about not being sure the team belongs on the same field with San Fran and Philly, and then pretty much says we're not proactively trying to do anything about that.

I am pretty sure a certain GM of a certain team leading our division wouldn't wait for people to call him to try to improve the club.

There is little doubt Jerry is not being proactive here.
It is AMAZING....AMAZING...how naïve this fanbase is. In fact, Jerry was probably amazed at one point...but when he realized that he can establish the richest NFL franchise without having to win....that set us on the course we've been on for over 25 years!!!

He's changed his approach ONCE over the past 25+ years...when he turned the football team over to a REAL football man (Bill Parcells)....and ADMITTED he was not having any fun...so he "ran" Parcells out of town. Does Jerry want to win? I guess. Does Jerry want to have fun and be the primary architect of this franchise? You better believe it. If we win in the process, great! If not, oh well.....we made lot's of money and most importantly, we did it MY way!!!!!

This actually isn't a bad comment from a strategical standpoint. It says that the Cowboys are willing to consider trades, but it keeps alive the reality that the negotiation is more favorable if the other team comes to them wanting to make a deal.
